Polar Leasing "hates" their customers

I run a little organic farm in SW Michigan and contracted with Polar Leasing Company for leasing extra cooler units for our cider this season. It is my first time renting from them and I just had the below forwarded email from them, including my response. I do not want to do business with them any longer. I spoke with the owner, Bart Tippmann, this morning and explained that I do not want to do business with them or have their units in my parking lot advertising their services (their name and phone are on the units) and here's why: my request to process my tax exempt status was an opportunity for them to be a hero or a zero - a customer touchpoint where they had a choice on how to respond and an opportunity to help a customer and provide amazing customer service. They chose not to- the owner then did not listen to me, he said that one person does not the entire company represent, that he "didn't say it" but that he knew it was "***" and "wrong" he said all kinds of things about how he had spoken with the responsible parties, this has never happened before, etc.- he went on to tell me that I was bitter and intolerant if I stuck with my decision to not want to do business with them any longer. Fact is, if I inconvenience them as a customer with a small request for the accounting department, how am I going to be treated when it comes to service in the future? I feel belittled. I feel disrespected. As a business owner I realize that this mistake should not have happened- the whole "don't get caught" notion - but the fact is that it did happen and how I feel as the customer matters and if they don't want me to discourage others from using their services they had better make it up to me in a way that matters to me, the customer. How would you feel and what would you do?

Emails received from Polar Leasing:

"Please complete a Michigan Sales Tax Exemption Form and send to us. Polar Leasing collected Michigan Sales Tax not Indiana Sales Tax.

I also feel that since Polar Leasing has already remitted the sales tax collected from XXXXXXXXX to the state of Michigan, that a credit memo is not warranted.

I believe you should submit a request for refund of the Michigan sales tax directly to the state of Michigan.

Once we receive the Michigan Sales Tax Exemption form from you, we will stop charging sales tax on your invoices.

Please feel free to call me and we can discuss this further.

I have attached the required Indiana form ST-105 for your records.

Would you kindly forward that to your accounting department and request they credit any sales taxes already paid?

We will deduct the tax from payments going forward. Thank you kindly for your assistance."
