Verified ReviewerDishonest and incompetent
- - -Do not sign up for Point Broadband; giftcard promises change, installs require multiple trips, lines cut, outages frequent, and extenders cost extra.
Abingdon and Washington County residents, this is a PSA to avoid Point Broadband at all costs. This company is as incompetent and dishonest as they come.
They will promise you a gift card to try out their service but then keep changing the rules on what you need to do to qualify for it. I have been told something different each time I have called. After I told them there was no line from the access point to my house, they still sent a technician to turn it on, which he couldn't do. They then had to send another crew to run the line and then another technician to install it in the house; three appointments where I had to set aside my time to accommodate.
They left the line lying in the yard, and it took multiple calls to get them to send a crew to bury the line. They didn't bother to have the underground utility lines marked, and while they were burying their line, they cut my Xfinity line. That crew just left without notifying anyone. I had to make multiple more calls to get it reported and ended up having to work with Xfinity myself to get my cable restored.
The service drops out frequently, and they bring WiFi extenders to your installation but don't inform you that you are charged extra for these; it is not included in the quoted price. They did offer a partial credit of $50, but it took multiple calls to get it applied to my account.
TL;DR: Do not sign up for Point Broadband service. It is most definitely not worth it.

Verified ReviewerConstant outages and tampering of service
- - Frequent outages from Point Broadband, lasting hours.
- - The reviewer alleges signal tampering and fraud; seeks more providers in Clintwood, VA.
Since at least 2023, Point Broadband, an internet service provider which serves most of Southwest Virginia and Dickenson County, Virginia, has had numerous internet outages on its system. This has caused a lot of frustration amongst its customers.
The internet keeps going on and off constantly. Sometimes it's out for hours, sometimes it's out for a few minutes. There is no break in the fiber or no wires down anywhere. It just keeps going out.
This is becoming a major problem. Point Broadband has had a history of intentionally tampering with its internet signal in some way, shape, or fashion. This has been the cause of some of these outages. They purposely manipulate their signal in an attempt to cause frustration with its customers.
This has caused a lot of frustration. They are committing an act of scamming and fraud by tampering with their internet signal and causing these outages. The worst part is, like where I live in Clintwood, Virginia, is that they are the only internet service provider in the area and the only one on the street I live on. There needs to be more options for more internet providers where I'm from because these despicable acts of tampering that Point Broadband is doing to its service won't stop anytime soon.
People aren't gonna put up with this type of nonsense anymore. And they've gotten too lazy, too stubborn, and too incompetent to even fix any of their problems. So many people in the area, including me, have become victims of Point Broadband's tampering of its service and constant bullying of its customers. These acts of tampering and acts of bullying need to be stopped.
People deserve better internet service in Southwest Virginia and in Dickenson County, VA. We need more options for internet service instead of getting our service from scam artists like Point Broadband.
Preferred solution: Stop tampering with your internet signal and stop bullying your customers. We are sick of the abuse we're being put through.
User's recommendation: Boycott Point Broadband and demand local leaders to work in bringing in new internet providers to the area.
Refused to help and answered questions!
I explained it to her (them) basically said nothing about they can do! Same ol crap every time this happens. Im over this
User's recommendation: Nope
Slow speeds, unstable, unreliable service.
- - There are slow speeds, high latency, and packet loss.
- - Outages occurred with little explanation.
- - Avoid Point 'Broadband'; use other wired options.
I, as well as many others in the greater Bristol, VA area experience on a daily basis, slow speeds, high latency and detrimental packet loss. Add to that lately they've had several major outages with no explanation or real info.
You can look up at utility poles and see the poor craftsmanship that went into building their network.
They've added way too many customers onto their network without increasing capacity to their upstream providers. If you have any other wired internet options definitely stay away from Point 'Broadband'.
- Available in areas that previously had no internet services
- Unwilling to fix issues
- High latency
- Packet loss
Preferred solution: Fix your service issues. I know your network engineers aren't dumb. Give them the equipment and budget to actually build out a robust FTTH network.
User's recommendation: Pick any other wired ISP if you have the option
No internet for a week
- - Struggling to reach someone to fix my internet service.
- - I have rebooted but still need assistance and want in-person support to avoid long holds.
I have been trying to get ahold of someone to come and fix my internet. I have rebooted and rebooted but I need to talk to someone in person. I dont want to be put on hold with 10 or more people in front of me.
Landline phone not working
I can't get in touch with repair service to get landline reconnected . It shows it been connected but on my end, line is totally dead. Would appreciate you checking it and reconnecting it please.
Abysmal communication between customer, sales office, and tech crew
- - There were repeated no-shows for fiber install over two years.
- - No one showed for appointments and there was no follow-up.
I had the fiberoptic cable laid almost 2 YEARS ago. I have called repeatedly to try to set up service, only to be told it wasn't "hooked up" yet.
Fine. This month I called and was told it was available. I set a date for the technician to come out. I set aside 2 hours to be home, have the dogs put up, etc.
No one showed. I called. They couldn't imagine what happened. I set another appointment, and they no-showed again.
I called the sales office and was told "it hasn't been set up yet." No call to let me know, no e-mail, just let me sit at home for 4find hours when I could have been doing something else. They had my email and my cellphone.
HORRIBLE customer service. Don't use them, if this is how they treat potential new customers, I can only imagine how they treat existing customers who have already forked over cash.
- Great price
- Fiberoptic cable service
- No customer service
Preferred solution: better communication with potential customers
User's recommendation: use another provider

Verified ReviewerPoint Broadband internet has constant outages
- - Four outages in the local area since Jan 2023 and frequent disruptions.
- - Accuses Point Broadband of laziness and dishonesty, considering switching.
I am having some major issues with Point Broadband's internet service. They have had four outages in my local area since January 2023, and their internet service is constantly going out all the time.
These service disruptions are becoming more and more frequent. They say they are upgrading their service, when in truth, they are too lazy, too selfish, too sorry, and too incompetent to even fix it. They won't even get off of their sorry, lazy, and pitiful rear ends to even try to fix their garbage internet service. I am getting extremely angry with them, and extremely tired of their service going out.
It's as if they have a fetish for watching their customers get angry over service disruptions. Their internet always goes out at the worst of times. They feed people a bunch of lies while they just sit on their butt and do nothing to fix their garage internet service and do absolutely nothing, and just wait until it comes back on. I have had it with Point Broadband.
They are absolutely disgraceful, shameful, and disgusting, and they oughta be ashamed of themselves. This company is run by a bunch of scam artists, psychopaths, and pure retards. People should have Point Broadband should switch providers immediately. I'm beyond sick and tired of Point Broadband's laziness and pure garbage internet service.
Maybe they need to just merge with another company and go out of business. Point Broadband is a scam, and they love to upset their customers with their constant outages and service disruptions.
NEVER buy internet from these greedy, selfish, lazy, and purely stupid psychopaths. EVER!
- Internet that constantly goes out
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: DO NOT buy internet from them If you have service from them cancel and contact another service provider
