Pima Pet Clinic - Pet Medical Service Review from Los Angeles, California

Horrible beyond belief. It was all about the money.

Cared nothing for my dog or me. Threats. Blame. Shaming.

All part of the program there. Tried to squeeze as much money out of a panicked 70. Year old lady who was so frightened and scared about the poison my dog injested. Stephanie the receptionist enjoyed my fear and even refused to let me use the restroom for several hours in the middle of the night which only added to the horrible horrible experience.

These people care nothing about animals or their owners. I took my dog to my regular vet later and it was the difference between night and day.

Do your pet a favor and NEVER. GO THERE!

They are terrible liars there. If you call with a question about a cat UTI they will try to convince you your cat will be dead in two hours if you don't bring him in, but then send you Home to collect your own urine sample if your cat doesn't produce *** on demand for them.

If you can't make your pet *** on the *** black pellets you get talked down to by the arrogant tech. I have never met a rider clinic in my life and they lie to get as much money out of you as possible.

Worst Clinic Ever

This is the absolute worst vet clinic EVERY!!! The care only about money and absolutely nothing else.

I took my dog in for a possible obstruction. They took two x-rays and did a cbc. All vital signs were normal, cbc was normal, x-rays showed absolutely NO obstruction (they showed them to me AND explained this), yet they wanted to keep him overnight at the tune of over $1500, put die in him, x-ray him again in the morning and then do a possible exploratory surgery. Really???

Even though he wasn't dehydrated and everything came back normal, they wanted to give him 3 bags of IV fluids (at $110/bag....for saline solution!! Salt water!!!), just under $100 for the IV catheter (the needle and tube), $69 for a pump to pump the IV (could use a drip???), and the list goes on. I told them I had a vet appointment with my vet in the morning and just got off the phone with him. He wanted me to have them give IV fluids for 1/2 hour (dog wasn't drinking) and he would see him in the morning.

THEY WOULDN'T DO IT UNLESS HE STAYED THE NIGHT!!! Worst experience ever. Will NEVER go back there for ANY reason. They will take you for everything you got, put anything they can think of on the estimate to raise the price, and care nothing about your animal.

RUN anywhere but there. I called two vets and they were astonished at the care suggested and the cost estimated!

I took him to my vet in the morning, he kept him all weekend (this was a Saturday morning) and charged me $85!!!! I love vets that care about animals and people!

Why even take your dog in to the ER if you didn't want to treat it? Emergency care isn't cheap you *** bag.

Last I checked, there was no Medicare for dogs. Being able to walk into a vet clinic at any hour of the day with no prior appointment and get top of the line veterinary care for your pet is a LUXURY. Let me say that again; a luxury. Not a right (hence it costs money).

You sound like an entitled ***. Also, as evidenced by your prior statements regarding how an infusion pump works and what IV NaCl is, you clearly don't know *** about medicine. Let me guess, you're a chiropractor. Or a CNA.

Let me drop one more knowledge bomb on your *** *** before I go. The reason your vet recommends those tests is to make absolutely *** sure your dog doesn't have an obstruction. Because if he/she has any doubt that your dog is obstructed but says, "Don't worry about it bro, no need to do tests, your dog will be fine" and they are wrong, your dog dies and you sue them. If they say, "Do these tests I want to make absolutely certain your dog doesn't have a life-threatening surgical emergency," and you say "No thanks, *** off, I'm going to write a scathing review on the internet instead," and your dog dies, you have no one to blame but your own *** self.

But I'm sure the subtleties of medical malpractice and medical ethics are way over your head, so I'm probably wasting my time here.

In conclusion, *** you, you're the kind of cheap *** that is ruining the health care system (both veterinary and human) for the rest of us. Crawl in *** and die.

Well put (all but the last sentiment, a bit harsh for me). People are very unrealistic about healthcare, human and animal.

It is a business, and people get mad about that, but it is abuses of the system, insurance issues and ambulance chasers who have made it so. Why so judgemental of cna's?

I've met some who are great and some who are jerks, just like anybody else. On the whole, you got all the issues spot on.

You sound like a REAL D BAG, I took my pet in there and $2000 dollars later they told me yep your vet was right he has cancer. Now it's only another $400 to put him down... Thats what I was there for in the first place but they refused to do it till they ran tests.

Horrific Incident

I can relate.

A while back my beloved family pet was bitten by a coyote. It was around 2 in the morning when I was in Pima Pet Clinic on Speedway. Long story short, I thought we may have to put her down because she was old and my main concern was that she didn't suffer. She really was just an old lady that was pissed off and agitated that strangers were touching her. Dr convinced me that the prognosis was good, so 2500 dollars later "I'm sorry she didn't make it."

I can understand having surgery and not making it but what bothered me was that they wanted 2000+ dollars before they would do anything! So, I got to here her agitated barks the whole time while I paid this bill. No payment plan, no give us 500 and the rest tomorrow morning, nothing.

And all the ones in billing, they pass you back and forth between different girls all seem to have a bit of an attitude.

I'm sad to say, they remind me of a collection agency but before you owe anything!!!

Over charged, didn't help my dog at all

My dog was hit by a car, and so I took my dog to Pima Pet Clinic in Tucson, AZ. They were going to charge me 2500 dollars just to keep him overnight, not including surgery for his fractured pelvis.

I opted to take him to my family vet the next day for a second opinion, because I didn't have 2500 dollars. My vet said he was fine, and that surgery would be dangerous for him. She also said that 75% of pelvis fractures heal themselves (Pima failed to mention this because they just want you money, they don't actually care about your pets). So you would think that would be the end of it.

Oh no, Pima then proceeded to call animal control because I opted out of their ridiculous overnight fines for something my vet didn't deem necessary. They said taking my dog home for the night was considered animal cruelty. So now I have to go to court with my vet's second opinion, to prove that I'm not abusing my dog. Thanks for the added fees and inconveniences, as if my dog being hit by a car and 500 dollars wasn't enough.

DO NOT take your pet here, if you cant afford something, you are considered an animal abuser. And on top of everything, after I paid 500 dollars they left his wounds open and bloody. They didn't clean them, or dress them, or anything.

I even asked and they just ignored me. Seriously, take your pets anywhere but here.

If you have to go to court file an injunction against harassment. I might have to do that against another clinic.

People in Tucson think they are better than you. The injunction goes on their record if someone runs a check.

There's a lot of shady pet clinics just like this. Not long ago, I went to one here in MI after my dog and a family member's dog ingested full stomach loads of poison in a family member's basement. They actually made us wait so long that it was too late to try and make them vomit anymore up.

BTW, sorry for your dog.
