- - A rude receptionist said I was not a patient.
- - The office dismissed me and calls went to voicemail.
- - I filed a UHC co-pay refund.
On 2/28/23 and 3/31/23 a rude receptionist incorrectly explained that I was no longer a patient. When I explained that was untrue, because I told Dr.
Puri that I was going to speak to my primary doctor before scheduling a sleep study. The pulmonology office dismissed me and has engaged in negative bias during my attempts to follow-up with a manager, Andrew. Each time I call I receive voicemail options or get ignored. I have disclosed Generalized Anxiety and the office is aware that I am under treatment and take medication for it.
I have also verbally disclosed this to them. The discrimination that I am experiencing is both subtle and overt in nature more subtle because they are avoiding me based on the false assumption that I am mentally unstable when all I have done is simply advocate for myself and stand firm in my refusal of the mistreatment by rude personnel. Generalized Anxiety is a protected disability under ADA and the treatment I have received is in violation of my rights as a disabled person under ADA.
I have filed a grievance with UHC in the form of requesting a refund of my co-pay. I am in the process of learning fully about my rights under the law and if this warrants litigation.
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Use another sleep study office
