Performance Audio= scam

NO STARS. They were terrible to me.

The owner John sold me a subwoofer which was nice... Until the whole cone blew off. When I took it back to get it replaced they said they would. However all they did was refurbish it.

To this day I am on my 3rd and only because they refuse to fix it. They told me it is not under warranty (regardless of the "Life-Time Warranty" sign they have hanging up... Don't let it fool you) because of scratches on it (which were actually there from it being refurbished so many times). I beg you to never go to this store.

They wouldn't let me get my money back, replace it or anything else. After they had told me this, the oh so nice John who would do anything to satisfy his customers stayed in the back of the garage and couldn't even look me in the eye and tell me this himself. Worst business and customer service I have ever experienced in my life. They sell good products, but if something goes wrong, you are SOL.

I am out $2k because of this store. Please don't make the same mistake!!!!!

I have dealt with Jon and Performance Audio for many years. This is one of the top shops in the country.

Based on your rant and the response from the shop offering to take care of you to the best of their ability this seems like a confused consumer who is simply not getting his way rather than a retailer who does not take care of their clients. Jon won Installer of the Year not long ago, just expanded his store, and has had countless more-than-satisfied customers during his extensive career. That doesn't happen if the proprietor of a shop makes a habit of doing his customers any wrong. A shop can only offer the warranty that the manufacturer offers, which does not include any shipping or removal and reinstallation labor costs.

If the woofer was reconed and had scratches, then why did you accept it and have it put back in the car numerous times? Give us the WHOLE story when trying to bash someone rather than just the parts that benefit you.

I used to work with Jon when he was back in Georgia and we still talk every day. I also work at a stereo shop so I understand both sides.

A lot of people don't realize that us as a shop can only offer whatever warranty the manufacturer offers which does not include any shipping or removal and reinstallation costs. Its just like the warranty on your new car will not cover rock chips. What I do know is Jon has accomplished more in his 3 years of business than most will in their lifetime. I and many more of his peers consider him one of the best in the business.

He might be a little more expensive, and take a little longer than most but your eyes and ears will be rewarded by the cleanest looking and most ear pleasing sound. From the basic radio/speaker install to the most elaborate custom a/v system he puts just as much time and effort into tuning and perfecting the sound and making sure everyone received a flawless install. I promise it will be an experience you will be able to keep and remember for a lifetime.

I know I wouldn't trust mine with anyone else. They say you get you what you pay for, but with Jon you get a whole lot more!

i don't know how the subwoofer was damaged the way it was but like i said in the shop i have never let anything in my trunk because like i said i dumped my entire savings in to that subwoofer and it didn't last long at all. I'm looking at the receipt just for the amplifier and i paid $690.76 and i have NOTHING to use it for.

Im selling it and i'll probably get $200 at the most for it because apparently you don't do returns either. Sorry that i expected more from the type of money i spent on that *** thing. Im done with going back to your shop and waiting 3 hours to pay and get this *** thing fixed or having to pay to ship it to the manufacturer to pay them to fix it and finally get the subwoofer back in the next month.

And I'm also sorry but kris never told me you offered to help with it. So because i feel like this is a waste of both of our times arguing about this i plan on taking this review down and letting you guys continue to do whatever business it is that you do.

Shane, It's very unfortunate that you fealt you needed to leave me a negative review like this. I do appologize that I was not the one that talked to you about this situation. Perhaps I should have talked to you instead of my helper but as you could see I was very busy that day in the office & the bay. You are correct that your subwoofer had been sent into the manufacture for a repair, But the subwoofer was not repaired at the manufacture. I believe a better description for repair would have been if they simply glued the dust cap back on & shipped it back to us. The manufactures typically recone the drivers & everything except the basket & magnet would be brand new. Because some build houses are not in house, manufactures often ship out a brand new speaker. I do know that when your subwoofer was reinstalled it was in perfect condition & did not have scratches or gouges in the surround as it did the day you came in leading up to you leaving this review. Manufactures like the ones found in our store are very reputable & would not damage your equipment & send it back like that. It would be fixed there! Because of the gouges in the surround of your subwoofer (That appeared as if something was in the trunk of your car that damaged the speaker), I called the manufacture & sent pictures of the damage to find out if they would warranty the product. Because the product was damaged & did not fail on it's own, The manufacture would not warranty the product. They did offer to recone the subwoofer for you for the price of shipping to them, the cost of the recone, & shipping back to us. So as you can see, I did not refuse to warranty your product. The manufacture did! We were just in the unfortunate position to be the ones to explain this to you. As for warranty of the labor done at my shop, All of our labor has a lifetime warranty on the work that we completed!

On a side note. Right after you left that day I called & spoke to your friend Kris (because I did not have your number on hand) and asked him to tell you that if I could help you by repairing the subwoofer myself I would be happy to do so. Please feel free to swing by the shop anytime & discuss this with me personally. If I can repair the subwoofer myself I will be happy to do so!

Best Regards,

Jon
