To obtain a Harris Teeter VIC card they require a drivers license

I completed the application for a Harris Teeter VIC card minus giving my driver's license information. When I submitted my application, the cashier informed me she could not take the form without my drivers license information.

I spoke to the customer service manager and explained I felt requesting this much information was too much and opened the door for identity fraud. He indicated he had several customers express the same concern, but the requirement came from corporate. I can not think of any other food chain in the area requiring the drivers license to be copied.

I am not desperate for a VIC card to point where I am willing to compromise my privacy by supplying this information. I live 12 miles from the Harris Teeter. I have used them on my way from work to home since the store opened. I started using them because of the organic items they carry. Prior to the store opening less than three months, I often traveled about ten miles from my home to Whole Foods. I find with this policy, my last visit to Harris Teeter was today and I will now resume my twice a week visit to Whole Foods.

Harris Teeter is not a store I would recommend to anyone as long as the requirement to provide a DL is a provision to obtain a card

I am a VIC card member, but I cannot change my password on your website. I click on Forgot Password, but it does not allow me to change anything.

there is no submit button.

What is going on here? How do I change my password?

There is nothing stating how Harris Teeters (HT) will use your data, how it will be protected, and if HT has a breech thereby loosing your identity (PII) how you would be compensated. I find it ridiculous and will spend my cash elsewhere as well as advise family and friends to. Everywhere else uses your phone number, they want to sell your data - not confirm the correct people get the savings.

I wholly concur. This is a ridiculous policy. Would trump be required to submit his drivers license?

The exact same happened to me with license & I only live 45 seconds from store. Luckily, I also have an Ingles & Publix to choose from.

There is no need to provide a license. Its ridiculous & it made me feel the male manager was being ***

Wouldn't recommend this but heard of some people asking the cashier to use their VIC card at checkout without any problem. On the occasional time the cashier doesn't provide a card to use the customer walks away leaving the bagged groceries at the register.

Which means the frozen foods and perishable items will go bad if not put away immediately. And it is time wasted shopping for groceries.

Similar problem. Asked about getting a "VIC" card, their loyalty program card.

They told me that they needed my drivers license to do so. I told them that no other store asks for a d/l, they just hand you a card.

Not going to be shopping at Harris Teeter any longer. I'll give my business to a company that respects my privacy and security.

i agree an application for a vic card should not require DL INFO!!!!

I just moved to the area and came across this same event happening to me. The customer service rep stated that your d.l.

is needed if you write checks.

Well, I don't & haven't in years. I then questioned why don't HT ask for it when I use my credit card (at the store or gas station) but she told me it was not a requirement or mandated by home office.

I agree. I had a VIC card many years ago but it must be connected to an old phone number. Searched and cannot find an online link to reapply as informed in store.

I was pissed they asked for this, but given that the store is less than 100yards from my door, I reluctantly provided. Then when the kiosk promoted for the "Alternate ID", I discovered my phone number of 20 years was already "in use".

Problem solved! Abandoned the submission of the app.

Apparently, I have a number I can already use. :) Talk about *** poor security.
