Apparently, you either used a debit card or gave them your bank info as you stated "they took money out." Big mistake using either of those two methods of payment for anything, anywhere. Contact the bank or card issuer and tell them you have been paying for something you never received. This is called a "dispute." Good luck, and apply for a credit card---that's the thing where you charge it but don't pay it but once a month---after verifying all your saved receipts, etc.

Over charged credit card practice

Pilot Flying J #1691075
I have been aware of Pilot's practice for a few years now and suspect that, instead of doing as most others do and put a temporary $1.00 charge on your account but charging an exorbitant amount, they do so because of the large quantity of fuel a large truck/tractor trailer can take and subsequent dollars due for it. A dollar temp charge just shows the account is open and theoretically good, but does nothing to tell Pilot that a fuel charge of a couple of hundred dollars will actually go thru. Upset me the first time this happened to me at a Pilot but common sense prevailed and Pilot is just protecting themselves from people who put hundreds of dollars of fuel in their tank, charge it and then it turns out the charge is denied for insufficient credit, etc. Now you know. If Pilot hired decent computer programmers they could change this and put a percentage of the total fuel you bought on as a temp charge instead of a charge of three times your amount as you stated. But, that would take an attitude change by Pilot management. Good luck on that. There are other gas stations out there.

I guess the key to buying appliances or any other larger amount things at stores is to use a credit card so that when these problems occur you haven't paid for them yet and can dispute the charge if need be. That particular Lowe's store seems atypical from my experience, but local management has alot to do with how employees behave. D105 john deere tractor

John Deere #1690531
I have had John Deere tractors of all sizes for decades and always found them reliable. However, I have never had one turn "blue" after only 6 years old. That being said, the D105 is a cheap tractor made and sold for small parcels of grass. Engines go bad, whether after one year or twenty, but John Deere made far better lawn tractors than any of the other brands out there----my personal opinion, of course. I find it hard to believe a John Deere salesman at a dealership would actually tell you their tractors are made to break and that you are lucky to get 3 to 5 years out of them. The key thing to remember when buying a John Deere is to never buy one from a big box store like Home Depot but directly from a dealer. You will get much better service, under or after warranty by doing so. The last JD I bought is an S240 last year and it comes with a 4 year warranty. It is a great addition to the other two models I own, both 10 and 15 years old now and going strong. Buy a cheaper brand and you will notice the difference.

The key fact to remember with all these "trial" offers is that unless you cancel in within the time they describe in the offer, you are signed up for auto deliveries until you cancel. The problem comes when people do not take their time and thoroughly read every sentence on every page before hitting that "send" button. It would behoove people to be very, very suspicious of any company offering you a free trial of anything for a dollar. The solution to these tactics and when they play fast and loose with the auto shipments is to cancel your credit card and get a new one. Pity the people who use a debit card and who don't bother to verify each and every debit on their monthly statement! Amora has alot of complaints on this site about their auto deliveries.

They then contact that person offering to help them resolve the problem---for a fee, of course. Your situation sounds like this is what happened. You should know that you owe money to someone or agency(IRS, etc.) and instead of paying some unknown firm to help you, just resolve the situation yourself by talking to whomever you owe the money to. Never understood why anyone would buy these extended warranties. Your situation proves my point. The best way to buy appliances is to purchase a basic, no bells and whistles model for a cheaper price and if it breaks during the manufacturer's warranty, get it fixed thru the manufacturer. If it breaks after the warranty, toss it out and buy a new one. This comes out cheaper in the long run as most appliances will go bad in the first year and after that, as you found out, you will get a runaround as no one will want to replace it but keep messing around with repairs that don't fix the problem(s).

New fried chicken

Cracker Barrel #1687930
Restaurants change the ingredients in the food they cook for a number of reasons. Either they get rid of something because it is not selling or they do it as a cost-cutting measure----using different and cheaper ingredients. Or, they do it in response to governmental rules and regulations, eg., omitting certain oils used in deep frying and using the new mandated oils in order to be more "healthy." This changes the taste of the food, but you must be grateful because they are looking out for your health. Potato chip manufacturers now follow government mandates for the oils they use and, as a result it is extremely hard to find a brand of chips that taste good. Best thing to do is cook your own fried chicken at home and follow one of the old-time recipes that use lard or similar----any recipe prior to the year 2000.

Green potato complaint

Kettle Brand #1687136
Green potatoes are not uncommon, especially if the chip manufacturer does not mandate the best potatoes---which few do nowadays. Back in the day potato chip manufacturers insisted on strict quality control in the potatoes delivered to them by farmers. That is no longer the case---all you have to do is look at the size and quality of the chips in the bag you buy. Lays brand seems to use very high quality potatoes----again, look in the bags---but other brands like Kettle apparently do not. I have had the Kettle brand and wasn't impressed by the quality of the chips nor the taste, which is determined by the oil(s) they use. As for the solanine in green potatoes: look it up. One study suggests that doses of 2 to 5 mg/kg of body weight can cause toxic symptoms, and doses of 3 to 6 mg/kg of body weight can be fatal. Thus, unless you eat alot of green potatoes, and I mean ALOT, you are safe and won't keel over anytime soon from your potato chip habit.

Whomever told you to rub Sensodyne on your gum to relieve a toothache is mistaken. Potassium nitrate is the active ingredient in most of these products for sensitive teeth and it works on the tooth, not the gum. If you have a toothache, the best bet is to see a dentist and find out why. For tooth pain, you can find extract of clove or a tooth pain reliever(probably with clove in it) at a drugstore. The clove oil or medication will work temporarily until you can see a dentist. There are many reasons for tooth and mouth pain and just stopping the pain does not cure the primary problem. As for Sensodyne causing your mouth problems the cause is some chemical in the toothpaste----not the potassium nitrate----that they are using now in an attempt to sell a newer version of plain old "sensitive" toothpaste.
