Microsoft scam game

Where to start, well I have now call 1-800-4MY-XBOX hot line about 9 times now. And I have been through 10 Xbox 360's. The first four I pretty much cut my losses and bought a new one. Then I heard that Microsoft was extending the warranty for the Red Ring of Death and another hardware error. At first I was really happy, here I had a brand new 5 month old 360 die on me, so I sent it in. Mind you the system was made in 2007 which was the year I bought it. So I called and set things up for it to be repaired. Well, after a few weeks I got my system back. With a 1 month live card for my troubles. (retail value $7.99) Imagine my surprise when I checked the date and seen it was made in 2006. Not only that, it was also a refurb. which lasted me 3 months this time. I sent that one, again, I got back yet another refurb. back. Again it was not the one I sent, and while it was for 2007 this time, it yet again lasted a few months. To make this short, I have went through this process 6 times now. The last time it was a so called "Elite" that was made in 2009 not even 3 months old before it too died on me. Again I sent it in, again I got a different one back. The last few times I made a big deal of it, and was able to get them to send me a wireless controller for my troubles. This took place 3 times. All I can say is I love my Xbox, but if you wanna buy one, be ready to get the free game called Xbox to repair center soon after you start using your system. Just make a huge deal about it when you call, and insist that they do something more for you then send you a $7.99 1 month live card. Ask for more, and don't take no for an answer.

Walmart - Wal-Mart/Pleasant Hills, PA

I bought a webcam from Wal-Mart. I got home and found that it was defective and after some thought, decided just to get a refund rather than exchange it. I went to customer service in Wal-Mart and asked for a refund after explaining what was wrong with the webcam. Well, the Wal-Mart associate decided not to refund my money because of their "software policy". This basically states that any software purchased that has been opened and determined to be defective may be exchanged for the same product. This policy is understandable due to pirating and copying issues but I hardly think this should apply to proprietory software included with hardware. Most hardware you buy has software included to enable the hardware to be used. In this case, the webcam was defective, now what could I possibly need with the disc that was included in the box? It's not like it is something that could be copied and used without the webcam. Based on this, Wal-Mart is really irritating me. I have had to take this up with corporate who incidentally, has not responded to my complaints. Buyer beware..

Best Buy/Pleasant Hills, PA

I recently bought a dvd drive from Best Buy, and paid a hefty sum for it. When I got home and opened the box (which was sealed) I found an ancient cd drive. I immediately returned to Best Buy with my receipt and guess what? After arguing with the salesperson at the return desk and demanding to see a manager, it was determined by them that I switched out the product with an old cd drive in order to scam Best Buy out of money. Well, go figure. I am SO pissed! With this current situation, I have no idea what to do or even what my rights are!

Sounds to me like you bought a new DVD drive and thought you could pull a fast one by putting your old one in there and trying to get a refund. Nice try.

Bestbuysucks also tried this scam and was unsuccessful. His kids cannot eat because he was counting on the money he was trying to *** Best Buy out of.

Don't get mad at Best Buy for not falling for your *** job. Try being an honest citizen.

Bestbuysucks T

The same thing happened to me with a sealed Laptop Hardrive. Got the same treatment at BayShore, NY Bestbuy.

After getting no call back from BestBuy customer relations "Tina". I decided to report to my credit card co. and attempt a chargeback. I'll let you know the outcome in 30 days.

Meanwhile, please post as many complaints on line as your free time allows. I promise I will do the same. Thanks to Google search technology I'm confident that Bestbuy will feel it in their pockets sooner or later. Please pass the word along..

"Don't buy at Bestbuy..." there are many options online.. Newegg.com, Microcenter.com, Even Costco.

Yeah unfortunately there have been times where enough customers HAVE switched stuff out and claimed what you are claiming that Best Buy will almost never do the exchange and will direct you to the manufacturer because if it came that way from the manufacturer, they should have to take care of it.
