Twelve South - AirFly Pro Volume doesn't work - company wont resolve the defect

Received the AirFly Pro as a gift and the volume doesn't work when sync'd up with two wireless AirPods - customer support acknowledges that it is a known issue but since mine were manufactured after they corrected the issue, the only resolution they offered was for me to buy a new unit. With Covid, haven't been going to NFL games and traveling but now when we are, the warranty period expired. Apple offered to replace AirPods that have a known static issue regardless of when they were purchased, not 12South - they say - "sorry you are going to have to buy a new product nothing we can do since they are past the warranty period" - but it is due to a known defect that they fixed so another $60 down the drain, they don't care about customer service!
