Kia Motors - Engine failure

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a used 2016 Kia Forte in July 2019. July 2021 the engine failed, it had under 90,000 miles.

Kia said sorry your car wasn't included in the engine recall. We paid $5300 for a motor to be put in the car. In August of 2021 we received a Product Improvement Campaign letter from Kia asking us to take the car to a Kia dealership to install a Knock Detection Sensor because the kind of motor in my vehicle is known to have excessive vibration which can cause complete engine failure. I again called Kia because this happened just a month before this letter and I had to pay over $5,000 for another engine.

I requested reimbursement for the repairs. They requested the documentation from my mechanic which I provided. Then they asked for proof of ownership and all maintenance records for the vehicle since the day I bought it. I sent everything I had , I didn't keep receipts for the times I did my own oil changes.

Kia told me my claim was denied because I didn't have enough maintenance records. Kia sent me a letter about an issue that is known in the engines in these vehicles but then tell me they won't reimburse me for my repairs because they feel there aren't enough maintenance records.
