We had a wonderful cruise trip scheduled to see the tulips in Holland but Gate 1 cancelled it because of Covid. Fine with that, and it took quite some time before a similar cruise was offered by them.
Signed up for it, me and my wife, for April 2022, but I need a knee replacement before the trip. At age 76, cant wait till after so I talked my wife into going with a friend on that trip. Gate 1 say they have to check to see if there is room on board to change passengers even though there will still be just 2 passengers. They say they cant change me out for my wifes friend, there is no space available.
Duh!
We will probably cancel, this is what they want, they get to keep the down payment and use a higher trip price. Ironically, they have the same trip with space leaving two days before which includes two days in Amsterdam and Travelers on that cruise will be on the same exact cruise ship that we would be on. Why not offer us that cruise and allow my wife and friend swap.
Well, the answer is that Gate 1 never returns money, uses any means to squeeze funds, will do anything for a buck.
By the way, we have used them before for several trips. Spain was good, but the fall colors in New England sucked so I suspect maybe good we are dropping them and moving on to other companies.
