Aafes Exchange - Guarnteed one full carat. Not true

My husband purchased a "one carat diamond ring" at the local AAFES military store in the jewelry department. It came with a guarantee in writing to be a full carat. My husband died suddenly in December 2009. I wanted to combine his wedding band with my diamond. The Jeweller measured the diamond to find out it was NOT a full carat. I wrote and complained AAFES said send the diamond to them where they would check it out. I said no, I want an outside opinion when the ring was checked it was .95. I asked to be refunded for cost of appraisal they refused. AAFES stated return the diamond in original ring or accept a $25.00 gift certificate. If you buy a diamond from AAFES be careful very careful. How could I return the diamond given to me by my late husband. They were counting on that one..Management is not in touch with the consumer. We are military families who are being preyed on by a agency that falls under the heading of AAFES.
