Drapery Affair - Gave horrible service and substandard product for a high cost

I used this company a few years ago and spent $2,000 on roman shades. From the very beginning they were badly made, and the cords seemed too weak to pull the shades up and down. I had them come out and replace the string cords with metal instead, but despite this within less a few months things started to go wrong with them, curtains wrinkling up, because they had not been made correctly to start with. Getting them to fix things was like pulling teeth, they would not return phone calls, then would make appointments and not show up, and leave me waiting around half the day. Because this is a family run business there's no point in complaining to anyone about the shoddy service, since they are all in the same family! Now I am trying to make them take care of the legal recall as we have the old style cords that can cause strangulation and they are legally required to provide a fix for it. I have 2 small kids and I told them my daughter had got her neck caught in the cords and actually bruised herself. Luckily I was in the room to help her, but it could have been bad. They sounded really concerned when I told the receptionist, and promised to call me back, and I have been waiting for 3 months, having called them 3 times about it. I am at a loss as to how a company can treat their customers like this in an economy where it's difficult to survive at the best of times.
