Complaint against Carwash Manager Rey and Cashier Victoria. Valero Carwash/Gas Station 1097 East Duane Ave., Sunnyvale Ca. 94085

Customer Service Department

Valero Gas Station and Carwash

Sir/Madam:

This is a complaint on the attitude and unpleasant customer service rendered by Carwash Manager and Cashier at Valero Carwash/Gas Station at 1097 East Duane Ave., Sunnyvale Ca. 94085, both only gave their first names as Rey and Victoria refusing to give their last name.

1.

I was a regular customer of this carwash when this was Chevron and I came here a few random times after this station became Valero.

2. All my previous experiences here were very pleasant and I never had any trouble.

3. Today June 18, 2021 at around 12:15 P.M. I took my Sienna Van for a carwash.

4.

I've been a small time Youtuber since 2007 and it has been my hobby to film my vehicles when they are having a carwash.

5. After Manager Rey finished his turn vacuuming his side of my vehicle and another employee started the other side, Rey told me that the interior of my van is very dirty and in a reprimanding tone said that I need to clean up my vehicle. I responded casually telling him "that's not nice for you to tell that to your paying customers". At this point he realized I was filming.

So I said this is for my Youtube Channel.

6. The car went through the automated carwash and emerges to the other end. I continued filming.

7. While I was filming my car being wiped dry by other employees, Rey came to me and told me to stop filming.

I said you can't stop me since I'm filming my onw vehicle. He turned around and walked towards the cashier so I followed him. The Cashier took his side and told me to stop filming as well. I went back outside and concluded my video and I went back to the cashier.

8.

I told the cashier Victoria that as far as I know according to current precedents and rules I can film everything that can be seen by the naked eyes on public view even in a commercial gas station because it is rendering service to the public. The only restriction is that I cannot publish my footage in a manner that put any person in a bad light of a scandalous or a libelous insinuation.

9.I asked Victoria if there is any policy from Valero that prohibits the owner from filming his vehicle while in a carwash since there was none or I wasn't aware of any in Chevron or of the 3 other carwash companies that I have been going to. In fact the managers were always very friendly and accommodating sometimes even suggesting for me to have a good angle from a shade.

10. Victoria couldn't point out any policy and at this point she has now shifted his contention falsely accusing me of filming employees.

In this regard I'm hereby asking Valero Customer Service Department to review your Security/CCTV/Camera footage so you can see I was only filming my vehicle and consequently the people who work around it. I wasn't filming any particular person.

11. This is the first time that I as a customer have left any Carwash unhappy, disappointed, disgruntled and angry at the management.

12. But please take note that All the Rest of Your Carwash Crew were very hardworking and very good at their job.

13.

It is only your Carwash Manager Rey and Cashier Victoria that have condescending attitudes. It is my opinion that they looked down on me because at that time I came from repairing my other vehicle and was wearing dirty shirt ang pants and holding my cell phone camera with a worn out cover.

Not to mention my very apparent Pacific Islander appearance although I've been a US citizen since my youth.

In conclusion I am respectfully asking that Valero Customer Service Department should remind your Carwash Manager and Cashier to be polite and pleasant rather than antagonistic, condescending or insulting to all customers regardless of appearances and to be furnished with Valero policies on public matters such as filming a car wash to settle matters of this nature and avoid future misunderstanding with disgruntled Customers.

Sincerely;

Marlon M. Apsay
