"Better management reaction" What does that mean. Hit the Big Red button and summon additional personnel into the store?

Have other store members abandon their current work and come up front to the registers thus sparking another whiny complaint about you about no help on the floor? Listen, to supply the low prices you DEMAND, they have to keep costs low. This includes cash register staff.

If you want additional lines, tell them you're willing to pay more for everything. If not......
