Sheehan Cadillac - When you have to tow your car they have you...

My 1997 Cadillac Seville wasn't starting good and I'm close to being able to get a new car so I was hoping it would be OK for a while. I was outside Aldi's Grocery and getting back in and it wouldn't start. I called my road rescue to get a jump, but that didn't work so I called back and ordered a tow. The tow truck came and I went with it to the Cadillac dealership. It was a Saturday so they were getting ready to close early and they gave me a ride home(that's the "nice" part). So it was with them a few days and they called and said it was a starter and that it would be ready later. They called again when it was ready and said it was going to be $747. I said $747? You must be getting it confused with a passenger airplane. Why so much? He said(Keith, service writer)it was a real pain in the *** Now how much trouble could it be to replace a starter motor, they must do that 100 times a day? So I looked up the job online and it gave a wide range of price, something like $300 to $527. Now I could have decided to order another tow and have it brought somewhere else but I still would have owed them $100 for a diagnostic test. So I bit the bullet as I needed my car and let them do it. Now the reason they call them "service writers" is that they write up the paperwork as high a price as they can so they get a high commission. I have had good luck there in the past but it comes down to who you get to wait on you. I asked for my old guy but he wasn't there anymore. Maybe they fired him for not writing high enough. The killer is the part was rebuilt and was itemized as $250 so the labor they charged me was about $499. I sent an email to Cadillac(not Sheehan)and they responded very professionally and sympathetic but I know nothing will ever be done.

Sears Auto Center - Seras ruined my car

Sears Auto Center - Seras ruined my car
Sears Auto Center - Seras ruined my car
I brought my cadillac seville to them for air-conditioning. I finally got it way after they were tecnically closed . I paid $1,080 and got in my car and drove home. The AC worked but I noticed the trunk wasn't closed tight and I just had that fixed at the dealership. I opened it to see if I could shut it better and it had been tampered with as if the parts fell apart and someone tried to reassemble them without success. I looked behind the wheel to see if anything else was wrong. Thew signal arm was stuck so now I wasn't able to signal. I went back to the trunk which I left open and noticed my tool kit was missing. I live in a security community so I know I didn't have any break-ins. The next day I called them and they denied everything so I asked to speak to manager. He said they wouldn't fix it and that it was an insurance issue and that I'd get a call. I got a call in about three days and some fast talking wise guy started making threats and issuing ultimatums and when i asked his name and company he wouldn't tell me. I later found out it was Segwick of Chicago. We had words and I finally raised my voice and asked again and he hung up. I nprbably am going to have to buy a new car now and surely won't ever do business with Sears in any shape or form. They are on the *** of bankruptsy anyway. Gee, I can't imagine why.
