Servicemaster - Fire cleaning and restoration

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They would not listen to anything my adjuster, or I said. They were doing what benefited Service Master the most that would have included astronomical storage fees.

I asked over 10 times at least the cost for transportation, cleaning, and storage because it was an hourly rate, they couldn't even provide me with the hourly rate.

I feel like I was taken advantage of in a disaster situation, if your insurer uses Service Master as a preferred contractor, ask for a different company.

Not only that, but I got more info from the company contracted under my landlords insurance company.

It took them over a week to even get started, it was a disaster in itself, they even left items because they apparently didn't have time. The amount that needed completed when I left was minimal, this was around 11am (if not earlier), their finishing time was 3pm, 4 hours would have been adequate to complete the job

Cons:
  • Cannot complete in adequate time frame
  • Defective work
  • Way i was treated

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Stay away in disaster situations, there are better companies out there!

I am dealing with the same company up here in Surrey, BC Canada and they do not "Restore Peace of Mind" as advertised. They have taken away a year of my life from a house fire last December 5, 2020.

(Not started by myself) It was supposed to be restored in no longer than 6 months, and I am still renting. I have photos of damage they did, but will not accept responsibility for.

I think it's time to get the big leagues in. Like you I intend to get a refund for their ridiculous/destructive service.

I never received a contract with service master. No itemized materials used.

Incomplete workmanship. It's like having someone take over you home & personal property remove it to a unknown place then charge you for storage shed/& cleaning of What? They threated me with taking me to small claims court also.

I say go for it. My home is worse off now than before the house fire.
