Good morning. I am a past customer of yours as are some of my friends and associates. Recently my daughter who happens to be bi-polar visited one of your stores. Though I was more than willing and able to purchase any furniture she required, she wanted to do this on her own. As I mentioned, she is disabled and on a fixed income of roughly $800.00 per month. I was fairly certain she would not be financed as her income is too low and she would have to most likely do a lay away type scheme. In which case I could just step up and make the purchase and everyone's happy. I had no idea that the salesperson would (1) misrepresent her income (knowingly inflate it for approval) and (2) sell the item that she wanted to purchase to someone else. I have attached a copy of her email to me explaining what transpired. This is a courtesy correspondence. I am very disappointed in the service that my daughter received. This should not have happened. Below is a copy of the email she sent me about this matter: Saturday, Saturday, January 23, 2021 I was greeted by salesmen Ivan Brignoni. I told him that I wanted a sectional couch. He said I had 3 options. There were 1. to apply for a value city store credit card and if approved I wouldn't have to put a deposit down. 2. apply for a limited amount where i would pay the couch off in 4 months. 3. and a layaway. I chose to apply for the value city furniture credit card. Ivan gave me an application to apply for the credit card. I used turquoise ink and put I can only pay $800 a month. He smirked like I wasn't going to get approved and passed me on to salesmen Kelvin Jennings. He said he could better help me out. Kelvin looked over the application and said I don't know why he didn't just put your information into the computer. Kelvin said I'm going to put that you make $1,500 a month and that you are retired. I was approved for $2,800. Kelvin had me sign two receipts. A copy for me and a copy for him with a 2 piece sectional Camila gray and a LAF Conner Sofa/RAF (1 YR Limited). I looked that couch up yesterday and I believe it was an additional $800 don't quote me on that. So I told Kelvin that I did not want Ivan to be put on the receipt so that he could get paid for the transaction. So he said, "are you kidding me I'm not going to tell him that you got approved because of the way he treated you--handing you over to me. The next day I came to the store to take a picture of the couch that I picked out. It was gone. Ivan was working that morning shift on Sunday and said that the receipt I signed was for a totally different couch. At that point he did not mention that I was signed up for two couches. I thought I was only signed up for one sectional couch but when I got home I realized the couches were separate. He didn't say a second couch was included. He also mentioned that Kelvin wasn't coming into work and that he didn't know what happened to the couch I originally picked out. In order to look up the receipt he had me ask customer service for another receipt which is how he found out what I ordered and that's when I saw his name was on the receipt along with Kelvin so they both would get paid for the sale. Also, Kelvin told me to divide 12 months by my total $1,029 to find out how much money I was to pay on the couch each month which was to be $85 a month. Later on Sunday I spoke to Ms. Joyce she said I was responsible for $86 a month she rounded off to the next whole number and that I was also responsible for paying the minimum payment that the value city furniture credit card told me to pay. I asked her did I have to pay interest she said only if I miss a payment would I pay 29.99% interest for synchrony bank. Kelvin also offered me to pay a warranty fee of $140 but I said no thanks. The address where Kelvin and Ivan works is: 2100 River Oaks Dr Calumet CIty, IL 60409 708.862.0224
