Where do I begin. Went to one Mariano’s and after one minute of entering the store I observed 10 customers NOT wearing any masks!! Here in Chicago, it is mandatory to wear a mask inside a place of business. So I turned around and left. I was so infuriated after driving there, parking, cleaning a cart with my own wipes because the company doesn’t provide them, only to have to leave because I am not going to risk being exposed from selfish jerks not complying. The following day, I tried again at a different store. This time at the store on S. Ashland and Archer Avenue. One guy was stocking the beer shelf. Don’t know if he was a vendor or just a customer but I think he was a vendor. He too didn’t have a mask on at all and he was yappin away on his mobile, not a care in the world like it was 2019. Then another employee who was wearing the Mariano’s employee clothes, he had a mask under his chin and kept cutting right in front of me without saying pardon me or something. So after the third time of this nonsense, I said to him please put your mask above your chin so it covers your mouth and face. In which he did. Then a minute later he returned and cut in front of me again and without wearing his mask. I told him again to put his mask up over his nose and face. He did but laughed then walked away. Next, after checking out, I noticed on my receipt I was charged the bag taxes of .28 cents and sales taxes along with two other taxes. I used my EBT link card to pay for groceries and you are not to be charged for any takes on regular food items. I went to the service desk and the very rude female greeted me with “What do you want” with such attitude. She wouldn’t refund me and was arguing the fact about sales and bag taxes on regular food items. I finally just walked away. The stores are always filthy, the customer service is deplorable and the food is not fresh. Everytime I go to get something out off the freezer section, either there are no price tags, everything is placed in different places than where it should be and are a mess, the freezers always looked like they are over frosting and chunks of ice are all the packaged foods and the shelves. Packages are all over and not where they are supposed to be. I will not give my business and what very little money I have to Mariano’s, especially when there are other grocery stores.
