Express Scripts - FOLLOW-UP: Unauthorized Charge and Withdrawal from Bank Account

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is a follow-up to my previous review regarding an UNAUTHORIZED prescription being sent to me, payment demanded and ultimately service suspended until paid.

The accounting department had previously dismissed the 3-year-old $50.00 I "supposedly" owed but had contested for over a year. Three years later, I received an invoice for the exact same prescription I never approved, requested, or was aware of.

I was told repeatedly in order to receive the many necessary medications I need daily, I had to pay the previously dismissed $50.00.

As a Military family and TriCare member, I have to use Express Scripts or else I'm threatened to pay the full price of Walmart medications after the fact. After months of consistent phone calls, always initiated by me, I had to succumb to their threats and pay the $50.00 to resume service.

I received notification from the accounting department, that my account had been settled and service could continue.

HOWEVER!! My prescriptions were IN FACT being held hostage, because several customer service reps. failed to submit the notices to accounting....even though I had a receipt from accounting.

After many more phone calls, and finally a raised voice by me, a helpful gentleman notified me of their failures, offered overnight shipping, and stated my account was paid in full.

The next day $5.00 was drafted from my account.

I immediately called Express Scripts and demanded an explanation for this unauthorized withdrawal, for which there was no explanation. I was told my account was in arrears $5.00 but accounting would be notified to contact me.

Of course, accounting does NOT contact their customers directly. Instead, the exact same invoice and payment history was sent to me with a $0.00 balance without the unexplained $5.00 charge. So where did this charge initiate and what was it for?

NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN THIS TO ME!

My only recourse was to contest the charge with my bank.

Thankfully the bank credited my account the ridiculous unauthorized $5.00 but my debit card would be deactivated and a new card issued in 5-10 days.

I had to re-order one of my necessary prescriptions 2 days ago, and was told the medication was back-ordered, but lucky me!! Express Scripts stated they would authorize a retail pharmacy re-fill. I had to pay for a 1-month supply, which is more expensive than a 90-day supply from Express Scripts. Does anyone think I will recieve reimbursement?

Or even a credit for the missing 60-day supply?

I think not.

I find it ridiculous that military families, or any other families, are treated in this awful manner.

If at all possible, find a way to fill your prescriptions at Walmart or any other discounted pharmacy. But beware of the notices that frequently advise of the after-the-fact full cost prices they are authorized to charge you.
