Walmart - Discrimination and Public Humiliation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My daughter (17) has been picking up my prescriptions for years and for several months at this particular pharmacy. Today for some reason she was rather rudely advised that she could not pick up my prescription or any prescription at this pharmacy per policy.

I contacted the pharmacy via phone and was advised quite rudely advised that because she is not 18 that she could not pick them up. These are not narcotics or anything ridiculous for her to pick up mind you. I requested a supervisor and was handed off the pharmacy manager that advised me that she makes her rules and my daughter could not pick the prescriptions up per the manager’s discretion, not per policy but per discretion on this day May 27, 2020 at 3:10pm. If it is not policy, and she chose today to not let my daughter complete this action, I feel as if myself, my daughter or both have been discriminated against and again quite rudely.

Please advise as to how we should proceed with this the first of several complaints that will be filed. Thank You for your time.

Update

I was contacted by a Walmart Regional Manager and issued an apology. I was advised that the previous Walmart employee had acted on her own in making this rule which is she was not allowed to do. They corrected her behave and attitude.

I was advised that my daughter may pick up any prescription that she would like whenever she would like.

The employee who was rude did call and apologize but tried to explain her behavior by telling me that people under 18 do not pay for the prescription and just walk out with them. Calling or treating all minors like thieves still sounds like discrimination to me.

I just like how when someone does not get their way they accuse the employee of being rude. Talk about immature.

Your daughter is under 18, so they told you she cannot pick up narcotics. Nothing rude about that. With your behavior my guess is you also are under 18? Remember you foolish child.

NO IS NOT THE SAME AS RUDE. Walmart also sells dictionaries in the school supply section. I suggest that you look up the words "rude"and "discrimination" because clearly you do not know the definitions.

My advice to you is to get your lazy *** to the store and pick up the prescription for your daughter. Also you do now that policies and laws change right little girl.

Learn to read Kayceon. She said that it was NOT narcotics. You told her not to be too lazy to pick up her own meds, now I am telling you not to be too lazy to read correctly.

Oh, and spell correctly. They put "Also you do now that policies..." It's "know," bud. Good try

I am grown and my daughter was not picking up narcotics. I do not need narcotics but you consider having some if you think that I will allow anyone to be flat out rude to my daughter.

RUDE adjective, rud·er, rud·est. discourteous or impolite, especially in a deliberate way: a rude reply. This is exactly what I meant. A simple no would have been okay, wrong, but okay.

As per Walmart Corporate Office this is not a law or a policy and was not a call the manager was allowed to make. Had I not been ill, I would have picked up my own prescription, but as I am generally at work my daughter does quite often complete this task. discrimination noun an act or instance of discriminating, or of making a distinction.treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit. Per the managers phone call it was at her discretion who could and could not pick up medication.

As there is no policy or law stating that she could make that decision using her discretion and that decision per corporate was also against policy for her to make I do believe there was some discrimination. Also straight from the manager the reason for this is that people under 18 take the medication and say they will pay for it at the regular register.

Are all minors then thieves? Thank You for your input, have a blessed day.

I agree with you April. They should not have been rude to a minor who was only trying to help her ill mother.

It sounds like your daughter is a great, caring kid. Hope you feel better soon
