And unless you ask for signature required, the driver can simply drop off the package. But having signature required means someone needs to be home so you would probably have an issue that they tried to deliver and you weren't home because of work.

So just like you, UPS works during the day during normal business hours. If UPS started deliveries at 5PM when people were home from work, many people wouldn't get their packages until 8-9 at night. I don't know about you but I don't want UPS knocking on my door at 9 o'clock at night. You could always have the package delivered without a signature required and then they would drop the package off at your house if no one is home. But I'm sure you'd have some problem with that too.

So yes, after 15 days it is no longer Best Buy's problem, that is why manufacturer's warranties exist, because "electronics can be feisty and not show problems until after a month or more of usage".

First, your lack of punctuation makes this almost impossible to read. Second, just because something is on a rack doesn't mean it applies. I can take a pair of Guess jeans and place them on the Levi's sale rack, it doesn't mean those Guess jeans magically become on sale because someone placed them on the wrong rack. "But if the store employee placed them there they should be more careful and I should get the sale price". Fine, and what if another customer placed them there because trust me, that happens all the time and is NOT the store's fault.

Technically this is credit card fraud. Regardless of her giving you permission you are not on her card/account. And it's especially baffling that any cashier would let you charge something just using your mother's social. From now on I suggest having your mother be the only one making purchases with her card before Capitol One (who operates/owns the Kohls charge card) files fraud charges. I would suggest reading the credit card agreement there is a whole section in there about authorized users. (Which neither you nor your sister are)

So if you select 2 day shipping on Wednesday and UPS already made the pickup at that company for the day the next pickup would be Thursday. 2 days later means you get it Monday because UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday. That's not UPS's fault, that's not the company's fault. And technically if it ships Thursday and arrives Monday that is 2 (business) days.

Very true but a best buy employee with back office access can look up the GC number, search the GC for amount on it and return it if it hasn't been used. I'm not too sure if most people know that but it can be done to help out someone in a *** situation. We do let people know its treated the same as cash though.

Um, you do realize that after the return/exchange policy time frame that is no longer Best Buy's problem. You then have to deal with the manufacturer and their warranty period, which on a laptop should be one year and this is the reason manufacturer warranties exist. Capital One didn't 'fight' for you because they knew the same thing, that you had to deal with the manufacturer and not Best Buy. Now had Lenovo refused to help/fix it THEN Capital One would (hopefully) have fought for you.

Legally speaking there isn't much anyone can do. If Best Buy does not return your money within a timely fashion that would be a legal issue. If Best Buy did not allow the return, or had July 2nd passed and no fridge was ever delivered but they still had your money that could be grounds for legal action. But as it stands while they did take your money, they are (hopefully) returning it. The closest legal precedent would be 'false pretense' however at the time Best Buy took the money they believed they had the unit. Within the span of purchase and delivery this turned out to not be the case. But at the time Best Buy believed they could supply the unit therefor under the law no crime/false pretense was committed.

Be wary of this with any online retailer. I have worked with 5 different online retailers and they all do transactions this way. The ask for the money (authorization) to make sure it's there, once the item ships the authorization drops off and the actual charge goes through. The thing is though while Macy's can give you an idea of when these authorizations will drop off, it is actually your bank that knows the exact date. Sometimes your bank can remove the authorizations ahead of time, but not always. So don't think this is just a Macy's thing, and if you come across this situation in the future just be aware.

This is the same for PotteryBarn, Williams-Sonoma, and many companies that sell this same kind of merchandise so it isn't just RH.
