Negative 10

Kohls #1404277
Yeah, it's a big hassle for any online retailer to cancel/combine orders. That's not just Kohl's. Pretty much any online retailer will tell you the same thing. Whether it's online or over the phone you need to have everything ready when you place an order and do not be surprised if you forget something that it will be next to impossible to cancel/change an order. Many order systems are simply not equipped to handle it. You may think that is poor customer service and that may be, but having worked for numerous online retailers I can tell you this holds true for the vast majority so if you think it's only Kohl's that you will have this problem with you are sadly mistaken.

Kohls #1404274
Yeah, Kolh's cash is basically a coupon that deducts the Kohl's cash amount from the product's price and how much you pay. Why would they refund back a coupon amount? If you paid $300 and they took $25 off in Kohl's cash for $275 why would they give you back $300? Also: "If you're returning a purchase that used Kohl's Cash your refund amount with be reduced by the amount of Kohl's Cash used."

UNACCEPTABLE - They cancelled my credit card

Best Buy #1400053
1) The Best Buy credit card is handled by Capitol One. Capitol One is the company who has the money you borrowed, controls the interest, fees and account closures. So right away your complaint should be with Capitol One not Best Buy since Best Buy has nothing to do with the account.
2) In the credit agreement YOU signed it states "At any time, for any reason, we may take any of these actions subject to applicable law: a) close your Account; b) suspend your credit privileges; c) reduce your credit limit. If we close your Account: • Interest Charges and fees will continue to accrue until your balance is paid in full; and • you agree to return or destroy your Card(s)."
So Capitol One told you they can close your account at any time for any reason and you signed a paper saying OK. And now that they have closed your account you are complaining.

Refused to cancel - shipping to wrong address

Toys R Us #1395726
Get used to this if you shop online a lot. Almost no online retailer can cancel an order once it's placed, and especially not the next day. By the next day that information has already gone to the warehouse which is likely 80% automated. A robot arm has already selected the items and packed them. And no, no online retailer is going to have someone sift through thousands of packages in the warehouse to find yours. So yeah, if you make a mistake placing the order, it's pretty much going to go through. I've worked for numerous online retailers and this is the same for all of them.

I never said the Department of Justice regulates pharmacies. I said according to the Department of Justice since they handle prosecution of pharmacists who conduct illegal activities like unlawful dispensing of controlled substances, they put just as much responsibility on the pharmacist as they do the doctor. Therefor since pharmacists know this, they are going to take every precaution to avoid that liability.

OK, I can't tell if you paid them $400 and they couldn't find the problem or if you said no way and never paid them. Since you said you are out $800 I assume you paid them the $400 to fix it but this not very clear. Also HP laptops like almost every major electrical appliance have a 1 year warranty, after that it is up to you to fix it and Best Buy, HP or whoever can charge whatever they like to fix it. And perhaps next time shop around local computer repair shops for a better price. Either way the only reason this is Best Buy's problem is if they could absolutely not fix your problem and still charged you $400.

Fair points. Kohls should have done a much better job both over the phone and on the printed statement telling you where to go for a much more direct approach for action from the lender. And you are also correct, no credit agreement or statement is going to say "call beforehand if such and such occurs". Simply pointing out in the agreement that regardless of anyone's feelings on the company's humanity what the agreement says about late fees and that they are entitled to this ethics aside.

10 items or less - not really!

Publix #1373845
There are very specific rules for cashiers regarding the 10 items or less line and no it has nothing to do with the number of items. For example: if a customer has about half their cart on the conveyor belt before anything is said, then you need to check out those items. Doesn't matter how many. Publix corporate does not want to see customers 'inconvenienced' by having to put all their items back in a cart and go to another lane. It's stupid and frankly at any time a cashier should be able to say "Sorry that is way more than 10 items I can't take you" but Publix would rather inconvenience other customers than lose out on a couple hundred dollar sale. And before you or anyone else says "See, that's why I won't shop at Publix and take my business elsewhere" pretty much every grocery store with an express line treats them all the same.

You can't take legal action. Pharmacists have no legal obligation to fill any prescription. In fact the law actually favors them in this matter because they CAN be prosecuted if they fill a prescription found to be fraudulent. So given the possibility for criminal charges if they do not follow exact procedure they are given plenty of legal leeway to say no.
"The responsibility for the proper prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances is upon the prescribing practitioner, but a corresponding responsibility rests with the pharmacist who fills the prescription." This is from the US Department of Justice. And as you can see the Justice Department puts just as much responsibility on pharmacists as it does doctors in regard to prescriptions. So no judge is going to rule in favor of you if you file a lawsuit.

Well, MattD78, this is the kind of reply that happens when a non lawyer type answers legal questions (BTW, I'm not a lawyer, either-thank God)
From my research, it appears that this particular subject is handled on a state by state basis. Therefore, the Dept of Justice (a Federal department) does not regulate this particular subject. For example-
" Maine, Minnesota, and North Dakota have laws that deem it to be unprofessional
conduct for a pharmacist to refuse to dispense prescriptions that may ordinarily and reasonably
be expected to be dispensed in a pharmacy by a pharmacist to be unprofessional conduct."

That's where, instead of just spouting my opinion, actual data is provided so others can look it up as well. Selfish Petty Company

Kohls #1372304
People need to learn how store credit cards work. STORE CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ISSUED BY THE STORE! Kohls is not a bank! Kohls is not a lender! The credit card is issued as another commenter stated by Capitol One. Capitol One is the bank who decides when a late fee is issued and how much it is for and if they choose to waive the fee because Capitol One is the bank you owe money to, NOT KOHLS.
From the credit card agreement issued by Capitol One: We may charge a late payment fee if we do not receive at least the required minimum payment for any billing cycle by the date and time it is due. Your late payment fee will be zero if your balance is $15 or less, $15 if your balance is greater than $15 but less than $50.01, and $27 if your balance is greater than $50. The late payment fee will not exceed the amount of your minimum payment due. If you pay late and then pay late again in any of the next six consecutive billing cycles the late payment fee will be up to $37.00 until you have paid your minimum payment when due for six consecutive billing cycles.
So it's not that Kohls is unfeeling or uncaring it's that Kohls cannot do anything.

I definitely understand your response, but I think that Kohls could have directed us to the correct place to get assistance.
Yes the company was contacted after the bill was received because I was not able to have access to or open my mother's mail until after we brought her home. Therefore how could I call before.
Also I work for a credit card company now, so now I do know that Kohls could have honored the fee waiver, noted the account or directed me to Capital One bank so that we could have known what to do to resolve the matter. Also form working at a credit card company now, I do know fees can be waived after, it was only a few days after the statement was mailed.
Regardless, the number given on the statement is for Kohls credit service, which is the number we called. We also did READ the BACK OF THE STATEMENT so and there was not anything that says "call before an unplanned hospital stay happens" or "call Capital One directly to give information on an unplanned hospital stay because life happens and we can predict the future."
It was just a life event that happened and how the situation was handled was is the main concern because the representative represent Kohls (which is the issue).

Best Buy has nothing to do with it. It is an old page Google happened to take a snapshot of and stored, it does not mean the product/sale/pricing is active on the site.
That is why as soon as you went to the Best Buy website it showed you the actual/current price. Whenever online shopping you need to go by the STORE'S WEBSITE, not Google. Google is not Best Buy.

I have never heard of Best Buy refusing to return opened merchandise except for games, CDs, etc. I have even returned opened merchandise to Best Buy myself with no problem. From their own return policy, here are the only items they deem unreturnable: All Final Sale merchandise cannot be returned. Other nonreturnable purchases include digital content, prepaid cards, gift packaging, memberships, completed services, opened consumable items including batteries, ink and 3D printer filament, and items returned that are damaged, unsanitary or missing major contents. Even if the items were part of a bundle: If you return an item bought as part of a bundle or with a promotional discount and you do not return everything — not to worry. We will reimburse you for what you do return, minus the value of the discount or freebie.'

KOHLS Billing

Actually it is legal. Many retailers bill this way. They send an authorization for the order (in this case $82.35) to the bank to ask if these funds are available. The bank says yes and the authorization drops off. Then the retailer actually puts the charge(s) through. Sometimes these overlap due to the speed of processing though usually the authorization again drops off before the charge goes through, but depending on your bank it can take a couple of days for an authorization to drop off (you can always call and see if they can give you a date/expedite the process). But yes this is legal, many online retailers do it this way it's just often times you don't see it.

Actually, no the barcode cannot tell them it was purchased in a store. What you are referring to is a SEREIAL NUMBER. A serial number is a unique number on items like computers that individually identifies them. All that a barcode does is tell the computer what product it is and how much to charge, that is it. The barcode does not tell anyone where an item was purchased or even if was purchased or stolen or given away. So that is why Best Buy needs the receipt, to tell them YOU actually purchased this item because they have no way of knowing otherwise.
