Palmer Ranch Travel - Abanded by travel and insurance company

Update by user Jun 05, 2020

Well it is now 6/5/20. We had to contact the manager Kerri in order to have Carol follow up on all aspects of our tour.Carol finally did follow up, but seems it is up to us, again, to appeal to Allianz and Insight.Seems we have started the run around and foot dragging all over again. This is just frustrating and not to mention outrageous.

Update by user May 24, 2020

This is another place that has given up on helping us. Like the rest of the companies we used for this trip. They are all SMILES and KIND WORDS, but as soon as they get your money and you need help, they are COLD and UNCARING.We know they are in business to make money, but they could at lease show some humanity. You live and learn and try to stop others from getting ripped off, that is the only recourse we have now.

Booked our dream vacation with Palmer Ranch Travel on 08/29/2019. Our agent was Carol Eggelson and the tour was "Splendors of Egypt" with Insight Vacations. We paid for tour and was set for March 7th 2020 to start and end March 24th 2020. During this trip, because of COVID-19 and bad weather, we were abandoned @ Cairo airport for 14 hours, had to cut our tour short by 6 days and pay for emergency trip home to the United States. We tried to contact Carol @ Palmer Ranch numerous times by phone and email but got to response, It took our representative in the US to contact her to help us. Because of this we lost 6 days of our trip, 2 days @ hotel in Frankfurt, lost luggage and was out over $3,000.00 for extra flights home, over & above the trip of $12,000. After we retuned Carol said she would help us recoup our losses, but she has been of little help. The insurance thru Allianz she sold us was to be coverage for "any reason" she said even "a bad hair day" but of course it didn't cover anything!!!!

User's recommendation: use these companies at you own risk.

Consumer Cellular - Unhappy

Update by user May 24, 2020

Well Consumer Cellular is sticking with the $15.00 off our bill.We are still not happy as it cost us a lot of pain and suffering not to mention the chance of getting COVID-19 because we had to use other peoples phones. If we can find another carrier that is a cheep and lets us keep our phones we will sign with them. For now we are letting everyone know how they make a mistake.

Original review posted by user Apr 24, 2020
First off let me say that we have been with Consumer Cellular since 2007 and they have been good. That all changed with a one in a life time trip to Egypt. Before we left on this trip, we called Consumer Cellular to ensure we would be able to have coverage in Egypt in case of an emergency. They said we did not have to change our plan, but we would be charged roaming charges per minute if we made a call. They would put us on roaming for out-of-country. After 6 days into the trip we receive an email from friend collecting our mail. she read letter from my husbands work stating my husbands job required his return to the United States of he would loose his job. He tried to call them, but our phone had No Service. We tried everything but no luck. We had to use someone else phone to call our god son in America to get us a emergency flight home. We learned the airport in Cairo was going to close in 3 days due to COVID-19. We had to spent over $3.000.00 just to get back. After our return we called Consumer Cellular to find out why we had no service. They stated they forgot to put us down for out-of-country roaming. We told they we really needed our phone there for just this type of emergency and because of this my husband did loose his job. We told they we did everything we needed to do before we leftto ensure we would be covered. their resolution was to refund us the 11 days we were without service. We stated this did not satisfy us because it was there mistake that cause us a lot of problems and the loss of my husbands job. Their answer was "We are a business and that is all they can do". Wow after 13 years with them, never missing a payment, and this is how we are treated. They could have done more. We are Very Unhappy and if we can find another low cost carrier we will stop with Consumer Cellular.

User's recommendation: Check roaming status before you need it.

As far as Allianz is concerned this case is closed and they will not even apologize, let alone give us any money back.We reamend not using this insurance company if you travel as they will find a loop-hole that allows them NOT to PAY any claims. We are EXTREAMLY UNHAPPY with them. Buyer BEWARE!!!!!

Used Allianz for travel insurance for a once in a lifetime trip to Egypt. During the trip we learned my husband needed to return to the United States or he would loose this job. We cut our vacation short and booked an emergency trip back to U.S. at a cost to us of $3000.00. Because of this we lost 6 days of vacation tour, 3 days hotel, flight from Cairo to Frankfurt, flight from Frankfurt to Tampa, Fl. and lost luggage with cash(Euros), coats and a Cpap machine. We were told someone would contact us in 3 business days. After more than week we want online to check on out claim and it stated they need documentation. No one at Allianz contacted us to let us know they needed this, so we uploaded the documents to them. Now they are still dragging their feet on this claim. My husband did loose his job some money if very tight now.

User's recommendation: Be wary.

I wanted to book a tour for which there were several available dates. Two of those dates were "guaranteed departures;" however, those two dates were not convenient for me.

A couple of years sgo I did have a trip cancelled due to lack of sufficient interest. The agent with whom I spoke refused to tell me whether my preferred departure date any people already signed up, stating it was company policy not to do so. I did not think this was an inappropriate question. I did not want to know who they were.

I only wanted some additional information to judge whether or not the trip was likely to go forward. I think this is a ridiculous policy and can not see how it benefits Insight in any way.
