USAA - Heading in the wrong direction

Just received a new bill from USAA for my bundled insurance products and the new layout is very good. So one more issue down. That said, I finally got around to setting up my Victory Capital account in Quicken and was surprised to learn they do not support any of the money management programs available. USAA moved my Roth IRA to Victory Capital and I can't believe that a company in this day and age doesn't support electronic downloads.

What happened? I work around 90 hours a week so, this is about two years worth of issues most of which have been resolved. About two years ago I received one of the most confusing bills I have ever received for bundled insurance products. USAA broke out the insurance totals but then mashed all of the totals into the amount for car insurance? How would I have known that? Took forever to get someone on the phone, much longer than it used to be. Issue resolved, USAA credited back the overpayment. Later I saw a large check hit my checking account I didn't recognize. So I called USAA after work and spoke with someone to fix the issue. The customer service rep was good and kept me updated as they worked to fix the issue. That said, it took almost an hour to get this corrected. By the end of our call, he was working with at least one manager and their IT department to fix this one issue. When they moved the check to the correct account, the computer system automatically dinged my account for a stop payment fee which is clearly incorrect. In the end they were able to correct the error, but it is troubling that no one noticed this issue earlier and that it took a team of USAA employees to resolve this one issue. Whatever cost savings senior management hope to achieve by cutting corners, probably was blown out of the water by this one call. The previous CEO thought it was a grand idea to sell off the financial products and pepper long time customers with tasks and emails when not too many people had a whole lot of free time in the year 2020. I guess this is resolved, but I am still not happy about it. Not good timing. In Jan 2021, USAA changed the way Quicken downloads transactions to increase security. Once again they dropped the ball and there are issues. One account is still not pulling in new transactions as of 2/12/2021. This is just one of the known issues. According to Quicken support, missing account(s), reversed transactions, and communications errors have all been reported. Quicken is still working to fix these issues with USAA, no ETA.

  • Increasing errors and issues

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

User's recommendation: Check around, USAA isn't a clear leader anymore

YouTube - WARNING! All Google accounts locked

I have been a customer of google, youtube, and gmail since each one became available. Over the years youtube has gotten worse but I would still check out a video or two - I mean what could that hurt? Well it can apparently hurt quite a bit as I found out lately. While working, I watched a forwarded video from a friend while I waited for a laptop I am building to load some new software. For whatever reason the video needed my birthday, while I was scrolling down the year section a date one was chosen for me. Immediately I was sent to a warning page that ALL of my google accounts were frozen as I was under 13? There was ABSOLUTELY NO chance to correct the date and the ONLY fix is to send Google my credit card# and personal information. I have an issue with handing over such information to a company that seems to lose this data on a regular basis. If you have a gmail account you should avoid youtube or you might just find yourself locked out of your own account.

After three and half years of going back and forth, and a fantastic amount of help from several of my lawyers friends - Avalon Communities Inc. decided that I still owed them money even though they couldn't seem to give me a straight answer of why I owed them anything....

Company still unreasonable, had to get several lawyers. Ridiculous, will never do business with this company again.

I lived at the Media Center apartments before Avalonbay Communities Inc. purchased the place and fired all of the professional staff. They hired incompetent and unhelpful staff - who would close the office for the entire day with no notice.

Finally, I got tired of the run around and started taking pictures to document issues, such as, no hot water, laundry room sewage spill allowed to sit for months, sewage spill in the garage area, broken appliances, a/c not working, heater not working, and so on.

Management wrote to me and stated that I had given proper notice to move out early. Fast forward a couple of months and I get a collection agency contacting me for accelerated rent? I complained and showed documentation for everything including the professional cleaning crew that cleaned the room. Avalonbay Communities Inc. stated that they would remove the damage charges. This confused me as their collection letter mentioned nothing of damages. After many letters back and forth, Avalonbay Communities Inc. stated that they were sorry I had so many problems but I still owe them money. For what, the service you didn't provide?

As the management decided to be completely unreasonable, I decided to notify every single state and federal government agency of every one of the documented issues I had that may be a violation of state/federal laws.
They have dinged my credit and they remain the one and only mark on my credit report.
I have found the management to be completely unreasonable at every step of the way - would never do business with the company again.
