Birthdate Co - Products Over-Priced, Not Accurate

Ordered a Candle and Book for my Birthday, due to a TV Ad, but was very disappointed for the price I paid, over $100. The candle was interesting, but the book was not accurate with my Natal Chart, plus only had an explanation for 6 planets, not all 12 planets. It was full of contradictions, and a lot of what was said was very general, and did not even apply to me. It was the total opposite of me, focused on my love life, when I am actually a workaholic. It did arrive as a hard cover book, but I could have gotten more information off the Internet. They do not even list their mailing address on their website.

User's recommendation: Their TV Ad is misleading, false advertising.

Kingdom Plumbing of Florida - Price Gouging

My kitchen sink sprung a leak, so I called Kingdom Plumbing in Palm Harbor, Florida to fix it. They came out within the hour. I asked if the leaking sprayer unit could be removed or replaced, but I was told no it could not, and that I had to purchase a new faucet costing $500 plus labor. Amazon had what I wanted for $50, a big difference! I had to keep insisting I wanted the least expensive model, since I am a Disabled Senior Citizen on a fixed income. Did not like Kingdom Plumbing insisting I buy an expensive faucet, regardless of what I wanted, even though I was paying for it. They did replace my faucet, costing me $250, the reason I felt like I was the victim of "price gouging", as I had to basically argue with them to get what I wanted at a price I could afford!

User's recommendation: Shop around for contractors even if it is an Emergency situation.

Yelp - Unable to Write a Review on a Business Not Listed

Wanted to write a review about Kingdom Plumbing, who appears to be guilty of "price gouging". My kitchen sink sprung a leak, so I called Kingdom Plumbing to fix it. Asked if the leaking sprayer unit could be removed or replaced, but I was told no it could not, that I had to purchase a new unit. They tried to sell me a faucet that cost $500, when Amazon had what I wanted for $50. I had to keep insisting that I wanted the least expensive model, since I am a disabled Senior Citizen on a fixed income. Did not like the fact that Kingdom Plumbing tried to sell me an expensive faucet, regardless of what I wanted, even though I was paying for it. Weather Chek Electric Inc - Left Code Violations

Have an Inside Home Wiring Plan through Duke Energy, my Electric Company, and wanted ceiling fans installed that I had purchased. Duke Energy set up the work through Weather Check Electric, so I would get a discount. This was a few years ago. Rather than install the fans against the ceiling, the men lowered them on a rod, when I have low ceilings to begin with. Not being knowledgeable in home repairs, I made the mistake of saying I would leave the installations up to them, rather than get in their way. When I looked at the fans as they were installing them, I asked why they were so low, and asked if they could be raised. Was told it had to be that way due to circulation, so I made the mistake of thinking they knew what they were doing. They also installed a light on my screened-in patio with a long rod running downward to cover the wires. They were to install a light outdoors, but I purchased the wrong light, so that was not done, but I was charged for installation anyway, although they did give me a refund. The next time I had an electrical problem, a different company came out through Duke Energy, whom in turn told me that the patio light did not have the necessary straps to meet the County Code, so was a Code Violation. I reported all this to Duke Energy, who told me they would file a complaint, but apparently never did. That brings me to just a few days ago, as Duke Energy sent out Weather Chek Electric again due to a tripped breaker switch, against my wishes, as they were available and other companies were not. At this time I talked to the Foreman and asked him why he installed the ceiling fans the way he did in the past. He tried to make excuses by saying it was another company, but my receipt proves otherwise, so I told him it was definitely Weather Chek, not another company! Once again he told me it was done that way due to circulation, and he always does it that way. I asked him why he did not tell me that I had choices, that the fans could have been attached directly to the ceiling without the rod extensions. He had no answer to that, but then the Owner showed up, so I mentioned it to him, and he basically made excuses that he was doing me a favor by coming down this time, and the fan installation was a long time ago. I told him that I did not have a choice in whom Duke Energy sent down. He said he would make note not to service my house again. Once again reported the incident to Duke Energy, but I do not know if they made note of it or not, as they did not seem to do so previously. The bottom line is that you would assume Duke Energy would send someone down that was reliable to install ceiling fans and lights, but apparently not in this case, and the entire job cost me $1,438, a lot of money for a Disabled Senior Citizen on a fixed income.

User's recommendation: Check out different companies before making a decision.

Discount Garage Doors Inc - False Advertising

Original review updated by user Apr 10, 2021
My garage door would not open, so I called Discount Garage Doors, but 1st was put on hold for almost 1/2 hour, before I could reach a live person. While on hold, a recording came on to say that there is no extra charge for Emergencies, and that they will work around the Customer's Schedule, and you could obtain same day service, all lies it seems! When I told the Staff I had an Emergency, I was told that they were all booked up, and scheduled me for 5 days away. I was told that I would have to wait for a cancellation in order to obtain service sooner. I was also informed that I could use the coupons for DGD that were in the phone book. I therefore posted a negative review about this company. When my review was posted DGD called me and said they would give me an appointment the next day if I deleted my negative review, which I refuse to do. The Manager then called me a liar, but the recording is proof, unless they deleted it. The repairman was prompt, but all he had to do was reprogram my remote and change a light bulb, which cost $65. He told me I could not use the coupons that I had from the phone book. He tried to get me to agree to over $500 in repairs with a Maintenance Plan, and when I said no, he had me sign an agreement that I decline the extra work. He left without changing the light bulb, but did return. The bottom line is, do not advertise things that are not true, as it is not fair to the consumer! I feel that this company is trying to rip-off consumers in general with extra services.

User's recommendation: Try other companies 1st, before hiring this company.

Pop A Lock - Hidden Charges

Jimmys Fish House and Iguana Bar - No Social Distancing and Other Problems

Went to this Restaurant for Dinner around 4 PM, and asked for Indoor Dining, but was seated right next to the outdoor bar. Asked to change tables, as none were really indoors as they claim, since one entire wall is open. Ordered a steak dinner, and after waiting for almost 1 hour I finally received my meal, but was unable to eat it. It was very spicy, the meat was overcooked, but the vegetable was basically raw, as they only had 1 vegetable to choose from. Spoke to the Server, who took the meal away, and returned about 1/2 hour later claiming he had washed my meat and other items, and heated them back up. The meal was worse than it was originally, so I asked to order something else, and this time ordered a chicken salad. While I was waiting, a couple was seated right next to me, so we were back to back, with no social distancing whatsoever, so I moved to the other side of the table while I waited for my food. After about another 1/2 hour, and numerous excuses from the Server, and talking to the Manager, who aside from saying he was sorry, made it quite clear that he simply did not care, about the food or lack of social distancing. Finally, after almost 2 hours in the Restaurant, I finally received my food, so asked for take-out as a result. Not only was washing my food unsanitary due to the Coronavirus, but Pinellas County has both mask and social distancing rules, which this Restaurant failed to abide by. Needless to say, I am not going back there again, but also think that the local Health Department needs to be aware of this situation, as it is not an ethical way to do business.

User's recommendation: There are a lot of Restaurants in Clearwater Beach to choose from.

Clearwater Beach Hotel - Many Hidden Charges

Booked this Hotel through Booking.com, and informed the Hotel that I plan to come early as I wanted to get Breakfast in Clearwater Beach, and asked if I could get my room before 3 PM. They informed me that I could check in between 12 Noon and 2 PM, but it would cost me an additional $25. My room was not ready until around 3 PM, so I did not have to pay the hidden charges. The room was on the 5th floor with a nice water view, directly over the pool, with a shower that felt like a massage. I only stayed 1 night and left the next day when all the problems began. I asked for a receipt upon leaving, but was told to get it from Booking.com instead, who in turn told me it was up to the Hotel to give me a receipt, so I asked the Hotel to email a receipt to me. While waiting for my receipt, I checked my Debit Card transactions and discovered that I had been charged an additional $30. I therefore called the Hotel again and asked about those hidden charges. Was told it was for damages, as the towels apparently had makeup stains on them. I therefore asked them for proof, as the only stain I saw was light pink when the towels were wet, and since the towels were white, the stains should have been easy to remove with bleach when doing the laundry. Guess since they could not get their extra $25, they decided to charge me $30 instead, as reading some reviews on Trip Advisor.com I saw that other guests had problems with this Hotel as well, so I am not the only one to complain.

User's recommendation: There are a lot of hotels in Clearwater Beach to choose from.

Aol - Unethical Business Practices

My AOL/Verizon email was working the beginning of the week, and a day later I received a message that my email was invalid, so I called AOL. After holding for almost an hour, I reached a representative, who told me I needed to purchase a monthly Yahoo Plus Tech Support Plan for $15 a month to fix the problem, which I did. They said they would transfer me over to Tech Support, but I got disconnected instead. I continued to try to reach Yahoo Tech Support but kept getting a busy signal, so tried to reach them through AOL Customer Service, but each time I was transferred, I continued to reach a busy signal. At 3 AM, I was still trying to reach Yahoo Tech Support and finally did, only to be told that they can not fix my email problem, as they did not have access to my account. I was told to call back after 8 AM, but once more I got a busy signal. I finally called AOL Customer Service and cancelled my Yahoo Plus Tech Support Plan, but was told I would not be refunded the $15, even though I cancelled the plan the day after I signed up for it. Felt I was sold the plan under false pretenses. AOL Customer Service tried to discourage me from canceling my plan, telling me they would give me a discount if I kept the plan, but I told them not to send me any emails, just cancel the plan, period.

User's recommendation: Do not buy this plan, as it is a waste of money.

Publishers Clearing House - Lack Of Ethics

I signed up for the Publishers Clearing House Website to enter their contests, and did not have any problems logging in with my email address and password. After years of entering their contests, I receive a message that the email you entered has been disabled because of your recent change. I did not make any changes, so contacted Publishers Clearing House by both email and phone using the email address they claim was disabled. They told me that they had a different email address for me on file and to try that instead, which I did, only to receive another message, but this time it said invalid email. I did contact Publishers Clearing House recently about receiving their emails concerning contest points and to unsubscribe me, as there was no unsubscribe link in the emails. I was finally able to block the sender of the emails which was Publishers Clearing House. Believe because I asked them to unsubscribe me from their emails, they took it upon themselves to disable my Publishers Clearing House account instead. Needless to say, this is not an ethical way to run a business!

User's recommendation: Beware Using the Publisher Clearing House Website.
