Corel makes false claims

I am a hobbyst videographer and creator of DVDs for my own family's pleasures and the rest of our family. Corel advertises BOTH apps mentioned here as being compatible with XP Pro SP3. That is a lie, and a fraudulent claim. Looking into upgrades for Video work, I've always used PaintShop Pro and Ulead Media Studio for the majority of my work. Unfortunately both programs are now owned by Corel, and all the older stuff (Pre PSP X3 and pre Media Studio 7 and earlier) are simply gone - no support, no way to replace them and so on. Then I got an e-mail from them suggesting I look at PSP C5 and VideoStudio Pro X5, which I did, including checking that they would run on XP Pro SP3+. It was a really disappointing experience. Neither would run properly on XP Pro SP3, fully updated and as malware free as I know how to make this machine. PSP starts up with every start or restart of the machine. I've closely scrutinized all 4 of the locations PSP can start from, and never found a way to get rid of it. I redownloaded, removed and reinstalled PSP X5. No help. And VideoStudio, well, it has all kinds of problems on XP Pro, including causing some sort of double-boot process the ended up taking over 7 minutes. Often I'd had to use "Last Known Good Configuration to get the machine started. Ny Query to Corel only resulted in instructions on how to fully remove all traces of PSP; nothing else. I had provided them with a detailed description of the problem and all they said was to uninstall PSP X5. I was ready to get my money back when I decided, just for grins, to try them out on my Win7 laptop with an Intel i7 processor. They worked fine! After experiencing success on my laptop, it occurred to me that Corel was being fraudulent in claiming they ran on XP Pro SP3. What the specfic problems were I never figured out - and I'm pretty well experienced with XP Machines iin additioin to Win7 and later. I wrote to Corel, pointing out their false claim, and all that did was open a black-hole. Haven't gotten any responsed from anyone at Core since. They must be well aware they are frauding people who use XP Pro SP3+. Corel has never been known for good support, and it's only gone downhill since my first dealings with them.

'Corel has never been known for good support, and it's only gone downhill since my first dealings with them.' AGREED! Thinking back 4 or 5 upgrades ago, I couldn't have imagined them being worse.

But, HELLO, they certainly are. Much worse.

On the plus side, they have forced me to learn Photoshop and Lightroom, programs that are much more advanced and user-friendly. You can get support from Adobe and don't have to spend $65 every year for an updated program.
