On 1/31/20, I was attending a private party at the Farnsworth House (Old Town Pub), 135 Farnsworth Ave, Bordentown, NJ 08505. Upon arrival, Valet was included in the event and I parked my vehicle along side the restaurant. I was instructed by Leo Valet LLC attendant Corey Johnson to leave my key in the vehicle and was given a valet ticket. Approximately 15 minutes later, Old Town Pub Manage Michael Scharibone approached me and advised that valet was attempting to move my vehicle for a second time however they could not move the vehicle. I then exited the restaurant and observed my vehicle across the street from the restaurant. Upon approaching the vehicle, I observed Valet Attendant Parthik Patel in the drivers seat attempting to manipulate the gear shift. Upon closer look Michael Scharibone and I observed my gear shift hanging off the side of the steering wheel. Parthik Patel began apologizing and stated "I was trying to get it to move... I don't know if it was me or the other guy that did it." Parthik Patel then called his employer Meet Patel. Parthik advised that they would pay to have my car towed to which ever auto shop I would like. I advised him of such and advised him that I would like to speak with his employer immediately. Parthik then forwarded my number to Meet Patel. While waiting for the phone call Valet Attendant Corey Johnson approached me and apologized stating that he was the one who broke it. Advising that he was rushing and tried to force the car into Park quickly. Shortly after I received a call from Meet Patel who advised that I should have the auto shop forward him the estimate and that he would text me his email address. I advised Meet Patel that this is my only vehicle and that I work three jobs that I would need to get to. I advised him that I need assurance that this would be taken care of, a simple yes or no, to which he then stated Yes it would be taken care of. I attempted to call Meet Patel twice on 2/1/20 with no response. Once the estimate of $3117 due to the whole steering column having to be replaced, was received and forwarded to Leovalet service@***.com on 2/4/20, I attempted to call Meet Patel twice with no response. I then found the number to his partner Greg Roehrs on there google page and left him a voicemail. It wasn't until I contacted Michel Scharibone of the Old Town Pub and had him reach out is when I finally received a return call from Greg Roehrs. Greg advised me that they would not be paying for the damaged caused to my vehicle by their valet attendants. Greg made claims that due to the age of the vehicle something must have already been wrong with it and they will not be responsible for any replacement. Greg continued to be dismissive despite his business partner assuring me that they would take care of the expenses and accepted fault. The mechanic that worked on the vehicle advised that the steering column is completely aluminum and there would be no possible way that it would have even been functional had there already been an issue with the vehicle. He advised that where the break in the aluminum is, was caused by sheer force. This has been extremely aggravating and unjust. I would like to know that there is some type of resolve and a company like this can not just deny responsibility for property damage cause by their associates.
