Power Home Remodeling Group - High pressure sales

A couple young guys were walking around the neighborhood with information about roofing. I asked them to leave some information because we have been interested in replacing our roof. Right away they called their "office" and put me on their cell phone to talk to a "manager". Thought this was odd, I could have called on my own cell if I wanted. An appointment was set up for a few days later. To keep this short and to the point, a very high-pressure salesman came to my home, stayed for 3 1/2 hours and quoted us a price 15,000.00 over 3 other estimates. Total roof price 22,000. Then said he would lower it by 5000 if we signed up that night. We did not, too high pressure and very overpriced. Be careful, they are good talkers and once they are in your home it is very hard to get them out, kinda like ants.

My scenario is very similar to the one shown above. A couple of guys walking door to door in our neighborhood.

We wanted a second quote, so we made an appointment. We had no idea we were making an appointment with a salesman, we were looking for a contractor to do some siding and roof work...not a high pressure salesman.

The quote for just the roof repairs was for $41,791. For a new 'full deck of plywood', solar eclipse radiant barrier (to prevent moisture and condensation in the attic), patented power vent (with curved shingles made ONLY for this company) and blown in insulation.

The salesman, Mike S, was in my home for over 3 hours, giving us his high pressure sales pitch with his little Ipad presentation. I had to tell him NO, three different times (after I could catch my breath from sticker shock!)when he tried to pressure us into signing that night.

By the time we got him to leave, the price was down to $31,000, which included discounts for signing that night, and letting them take before and after pictures for their web site. His response to our declining, was that it was okay, they are a big company and are not hurting for business.

I posted a picture of the unsigned contract, showing the quote onto social media. It has received so much attention, and has been shared, shared, and shared again!

If your selling a quality product, and your prices are fair/reasonable/affordable, there would be no need to have homeowners endure a 3 hour high pressure sales pitch! That is 3 hours of my life I won't get back...

This kid came over, and was real nice at FIRST, but after 4 1/2 hours, of sales pitch that could have been done 1 hour, I realized he wasn't leaving without a signed contract. He was getting into my Dinner time and food was getting cold and he wasn't taking the hint.

I chuckled politely and said, We will get back to you, and he replies THIS ISN'T FUNNY YOUR HOUSE IS BEING DESTROYED BY YOUR NEGLECT!!! I said, We need to eat!

He said, " Well man I am not gonna take your food away from you LOL!!! BTW he was told up front that we really wasn't interested in doing any windows for a long time, but just curious about what it would cost BEFORE I LET HIM IN THE DOOR!!!

Thanks for taking the time to write. I want to take a moment to explain our first visit discount, so that you better understand our pricing and why it is structured in the fashion it is. The reason we're able to offer such a steep discount on the first visit is simply a matter of efficiencies. We visit hundreds of customers everyday. By offering our customers a steep discount for an agreement that evening, we effectively eliminate costs from the potential project. It is simply more cost-effective for us to come to an agreement on cost if our customers are ready to move forward. And if we can come to an agreement, we push those cost savings right on to the customer for their trust in our products and team.

At the same time, we realize asking customers to make a commitment on a large project in one evening is not something everyone can do. Therefore, we believe we offer other cost-effective options that allow you to consider Power while you schedule additional estimates are sit on the quote until you are ready down the line. We are extremely confident in our products, warranties and level of service and while we are transparent that we are not the cheapest game in town, we feel our customers will ultimately choose quality over the lowest bid.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me directly.

Yours in Service,

Ray, that is the biggest load of ***, i can't believe you can even reply with a straight face.

Had the worst experience with your company that one could have, it's amazing that sleazy companies like Power still can stay in business today.

This is an insultingly bad lie. Ray you are a fool, maybe you will make some amount of money in this world by taking advantage of the poor and elderly, but there is a special place in *** for you.

Please Ray, if this is the justification for the sign-now discount, then why not inform prospective customers of this while they are making the appointment you offer for a year-long estimate. That way the consumer can research before the sales person visits on estimate day.

Your excuse is such a red-herring, and nothing short of fraud. If you were sincerely concerned about the expense of multiple visits, then give the consumer the info he or she needs to make a decision promptly. That is, unless you are actually looking to *** somebody into make the purchase commitment before they get the chance to research the company. I can understand your concern, however, being how obviously dishonest your company seems to be from a simple yelp search.

Also some precious info from former employees on glass door. I am disgusted and WILL be following up with consumer protection at the NY State AG's office. I'm a state attorney, by the way, and have cases where I represent older adult victims of predator scams like yours.

I don't know how you sleep at night.

After doing the math when we were able to breathe once the TWO sales guys left...we realized financing, while a nice option was going to cost us an extra $18k if we took the whole 12 years. We also got a quote $17,000 less than yours from a very reputable local company.

We now know what to expect tomorrow when we get *** rushed by the same sales guy that originally came now claiming to be the "courier" to cancel our order that was never placed but apparently claiming to be.

I feel bad we have to cancel but you really prey on people like me who can't make decisions in a timely fashion and are quick to feel pressured (though they were great with the reverse psychology of "I don't want you to feel pressured"...they were here for 4 hours. If that's not pressured idk what is).

I purchased a used car. 13 days later the motor blew! Dealer had the car for 3 months to put a rebuilt motor in. Warranty did not cover the motor. $2000.00 Warranty. The warranty money was refunded to dealer but Silverdale Auto refused to give the money back to us!!! Motor still leaking!! They are criminals!!! Buyer beware!!!!!!!! This is the place that gave used car salepeople bad names! Not even BBB accredited! No place on website to even post comments, I guess they are afraid of what people will say. I called in a police report and guess what????? The Police have heard all this before about this used car lot!!!! This is a warning OUR community! Get out of here Silverdale Auto!!! You don't belong in a respectable community!

Place is a total ripoff!! Took advantage of my teenage son and sold him 2 cars.

Added his girlfriend as co-owner with absolutely NO credit whatsoever! Car is a total piece of ***, rods starting pinging within one week. Warranty is not as they stated and did not cover any of the repairs we had it in for. Sat in their parking lot for 2 weeks when we finally went up and took back and took to another repair shop.

Car has now been sitting in my driveway for months waiting for them to repo the piece of shi&t!

Do not deal with these people, nothing is true that comes out of their mouths. When I called them about it they were rude and were yelling at me over the phone.....STAY AWAY~!

I recommend you call in a police report to Pennridge Regional. Also, if the warranty was not what you expected, and you feel fraud was committed, then call Trooper Rodi at the Dublin police dept.

He ivestigated our complaint and considered it criminal. He did get our money back for the warranty. Guess Silverdale doesn't like going to court. The car we bought is still a piece of ***.

It has been in the shop many times and has cost us thousands.

BUT....word of mouth will protect other buyers and hopefully get rid of Silverdale Auto! ,) We know many people in the area.
