Van Dykes Restorers designs and sells junk hardware and doesn't honor warranty
I bought two brass Cremone Bolts for over $100 each. The design was defective, they broke less than two weeks after installation. Instead of having a 1/4" x 1/4" spindle connecting the handle to the mechanism, they have two #6 screws, which promptly sheared off. Design for these products has been standardized hundreds of years ago. These are anything but "Retro" as described by Van Dykes. Van Dykes refused to replace them, despite multiple emails. They don't even respond past the first denial. We installed them for a client over 700 miles from our shop, and are now stuck with buying new ones, and making a huge trip to replace them. The company stinks, don't buy anything from them that has a moving part, they design, manufacture, and sell garbage and don't care. Van ***'s Restorers is not a company that can be trusted.

Super 8 Motel in Thurmont, MD infested with Bed Bugs and filthy
Arrived with family at midnight, room had strong musty, moldy odor. A/C not running, window closed. No curtain other than black out on first floor, couldn't open window without being in the parking lot. Sheets appeared used, creased and wrinkled. Bottom of bathtub grayish from dirt . Towels had large gray stains. But the worst was that we awoke to itchy bites around my scalp and neck, my wife bitten all over. When we went to a pharmacy, he identified them as Bed Bug bites. Had to discard all our child's plush animals, and all luggage steamed. All clothing had to be dry cleaned. Childs' cot from the year the hotel opened in 1991 was $20, without blankets. Paid $124 + $20 for the cot, for this aggravation.

Diversified Investment Advisors, Cedar Rapids, IA- Excessive fees on Retirement Funds, Union scam
Diversified Investment Advisors have managed my pension initially vested with $2k before I left for another employer. They have pillaged the fund through charging unconscionably high fees over the past 10 years, consuming 40% of my investment retirement funds. I have always directed the money to remain from the beginning in Diverisifed's short term low risk money market fund. Now Diverisifed has doubled their "investment advisor" and "investment management" charges without my consent, and are taking more than 10% of my funds for investment advisor fees, annually! Taking $200. per year for keeping my funds in a money market fund is a violation of this investment advisor's fiduciary responsibitlity to the owners of funds under their management. They take advantage of me because the union pension fund allowed excessive fees, in exchange for illegal kickbacks to the union Local 8a-28a of the Painters union, part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. This abuse of union pensioners should be investigated by the Justice Department, Dept. of Labor, for fraud violation of ERISA.
