Mariner Finance kicks you when you're down.

Yesterday, I was laid off my job. I unfortunately, don't have as much money saved up as I should. So, I called Mariner Finance, a company I have a small personal loan for, to ask for an extension on my next payment. I owe around $700 of the loan.

I spoke with the assistant manager named Ramona, she didn't bother with the "I'm sorry to hear about your job" she just went straight to "we don't do differed payments". Seeing that I was not going to receive any help from her, I asked to speak with her manager, who's name I was not given or didn't hear if it was. She was equally as unprofessional and unhelpful. I even asked to speak with her supervisor Janine Smith (not sure how the first name was spelled) and she refused to give me Ms. Smith's phone number saying "it is our company policy that we do not give out our supervisor's number." She offered to send her an e-mail asking her to contact me. I don't expect to hear back from them. I also asked for a corporate office number she said that they don't have a corporate office which after going to the Better Business Bureau's website, I was able to get a corporate office phone number. So she lied to me about this. After all of this, she said I had paid enough so far to not have to make a payment until April. Why they couldn't tell me that to begin with I don't know. That information could have saved me from all this extra hassle they gave me! I would have actually been satisfied with that answer had they not been so unprofessional, unhelpful, and unsympathetic.

This was a very saddening experience considering this is my THIRD loan with Mariner Finanace. They had their last two loans paid back, you would think that I would be given a little help since this is the first time I have called in with an issue. I definitely feel like Mariner Finance is kicking me while I am down. I wasn't asking for much, just a little consideration while I find a new job, so that missing or being a late on a payment doesn't negatively affect my credit. Hopefully, I can sell some stuff on craigslist in the mean time, to make my next loan payment.

I say to anyone looking for a loan, please go somewhere else. Mariner finance is not the place to go if you expect good customer service. This is the place to go if you like being "kicked while you're down".

Reason of review:
Poor customer service

Preferred solution: My solution is to move my payment schedule up two months while I obtain a new job. My concern is my credit and being charged late fees.

Itโ€™s sad to see that there are so many other people that they have treated this way. Kicked when youโ€™re down is perfect explanation.

They promised me a loan to recoup and bridge the gap since I was victim of identity theft. Strung me along for a week, and reassured me every day that we will be closing the next day, next day or the next day. Only to be called last night and say I wasnโ€™t approved. I wasnโ€™t approved because I gave the weekly average income amount as opposed to the year to date average.

Thatโ€™s why I didnโ€™t get approved. They asked the wrong question. it was their mistake, but I was not allowed to make a correction. Apparently initial answers are engraved in stone.

So I went from having the thought of all of the financial stress being eliminated to turn right back into my face. I caught them in so many lies itโ€™s just a shame

Just got a letter from this so-called company, addressed to my husband, with a suspicious check for $3500. We've never asked for anything from this place, nor do we even know anything about this company, so why are they doing this?

The only thing I can think of is that they are a predatory company, and they prey on people to get them to take out some type of payday loan or some type of loan in general, and then put the squeeze on you.

My husband and I are both disabled, unable to work, and we have a fixed income, so we're not falling for this! Something needs to be done about places like this so that they learn not to prey on people!

They send these checks to broke people with bad credit. Probably why you got one.

As you say, they count on broke people like you to run out and cash the check. Kudos for not being a fool.

I guess the Mariner employee doesnโ€™t have time to check her books. We never missed a payment before, things happen in life that you have no control over.

Instead of calling people names, perhaps if you had a better attitude and tried to reasonably work with your clientโ€™s, you would get paid. I told John the VA wanted to know his debts, they were going to pay it off.

But you just called multiple times every day, including Sunday, which is illegal, and wanted to waste our time in court. How did that work out for you btw?

" We never missed a payment before" No,m they probably don't have time to look at anything but the contract YOU signed that said you would pay on time all the time. That is unless you have a special situation exemption clause.

As to if they kissed your *** more they would get paid, who will be hurt more, you or them? You're already relegated to places like this for loans instead of traditional banks. In addition, to be pushed further away from real credit, you run the risk of being sued. As far as calling Sunday, where is it illegal to do that?

Typical serial dead beat, nothing to see here folks... "You work for them."

Theyโ€™ll probably go out of business as all the quick loan sharks do...

Bottom line, majority of this farce is that the loans are unsecured. Thereโ€™s really nothing they can do.

Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™re hurting now and their company will suffer for the greed they have prayed on hard working, good people. As ye reap, so will thee sow

Love how you use a Biblical quote. Did you know the Bible also says you MUST pay your debts?

Further, it says you're not to get into stupid deals. With that said, these people won't suffer if you serial dead beats won't pay, it is you, fools who have @#$# up their credit and have to trade with places like this will in the long run. You'll pay more to borrow money. You'll be relegated to pay day loan places just to make it.

You'll be on a list of candidates for a job until they look at your credit. The true BOTTOM LINE is to not borrow money you don't want to pay back. The BOTTOM LINE is to not whine like a little @#$# when you're required to show some sense of honor.

The BOTTOM LINE is to "owe no one anything but love." Be mindful of using the word to judge others as that measure will be applied to dead beats like you. OK loser, say it...."You must work for them."

On May 11, 2012, I placed an order for a tv from Tiger Direct. I was referred by a coworker who bought a TV from the site and according to him it was great and he got a great deal. After viewing the site myself, the price was reasonable and they were having a free shipping special for Mother's day so I thought I should take advantage of this deal. Of course, free shipping meant the order would take nearly 10 days for me to receive. A problem I was ok with because I thought I was going to be getting a good deal, on a good TV. (VIZIO E470VLE 47IN 1080P 60HZ LCD)

I received the package May 21, 2012. What was alarming, was the fact that box was the orginal box for the TV. Not an actual box used for shipping. It was torn up, bent, and ripped apart at some areas. I have pictures as well showing this. When I saw this, I immediatly opened the package, to find that there was NOTHING but two pieces of styrofoam protecting the tv. I carefully, and gently, pulled the tv from the box to find very large cracks and "spider webs" through the entire TV screen.

The next day, I called Tiger Direct, already upset but open to some sort of agreement or compromise with Tiger Direct to fix my problem and still be a satisfied customer. What I experienced was a complete opposite.

The customer service rep I spoke with, had no sympathy for my situation at all. I explained to him that obviously it happened during shipping, but it wasn't hurting Tiger Direct, because the carrier would have had to pay for the damages to see the tv. translating to Tiger Direct making not one but TWO TV sales. Leaving me still without a product I had paid for almost two weeks ago, and without the money I used to purchase it.

After explaining my concerns to the representative, he put me on hold for about 3 minutes. Upon returning, he told me that they could give me $10 off. That almost made me lose it. Here I am spending around $500 for a TV and all they could do, was give me $10 for having to wait over a month to receive a TV I already paid for.

I asked him what he thought about that, and if he was me what he would feel like. He didn't respond just put me on hold for another 3 minutes and came back and said we can double it and give you $20 off of your TV. At this point, I was just too upset to think clearly, so I accepted the offer and told him that I wanted this to be done quickly and a new TV sent as soon as possible.

Two weeks go by, and I have heard nothing from Tiger Direct about getting a new TV. I called them today June 9, 2012, spoke with a representative about my concerns, and then was put on a 5 minute hold, to find out they haven't even shipped the new TV to me yet. Translation, I would have to wait ANOTHER 10 days before I would receive my TV.

I also inquired about my refund of $20 as to when I would receive that. She told me that it wasn't a refund it was a GIFT CARD! Unbelieveable!!! They actually expected me to want to spend more money on their site after all of this? I told her that I was told it was supposed to be a refund. She told me she could forward that along but would not have "guaranteed" results of being a refund.

Fed up with this disgraceful lack of empathy, and horrid customer service, I asked for a refund. I was told it would take 3-5 business days for me to receive my money back. I guess they didn't really care about my purchase because they did not offer anything to make up for my very reasonable concerns with this transaction.

If you have read this, do yourself a favor, save your time, and your money DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM TIGER DIRECT!!!

So I contacted Tigerdirect.com's customer satisfaction, and all they did was offer me TV's that were the same as what I ordered, with no discount or interest in what I had to say.

I also, have yet to receive my refund after another two weeks, and 3 phone calls.

Thanks again for wasting my time and money Tiger Direct.
