Kia Motors - 2011 Kia Soul Poor Mileage

Own a 2011 Kia Soul. I keep a detailed mileage log detailing MPGl, price, so forth.

My kia is getting 24 MPG. After contacting the dealership in Texas, my husband was told by the service manager "That Kia lies to the public about the mileage their vehicles get, the Soul won't get anywhere near the 30MPG!" This is NOT something a customer wants to hear from their dealership. I then contacted KIA customer service, and was told that if I have a fuel consumption test done on my car and NOTHING is found wrong with it, I will have to pay for this test out of pocket. I love the way my Kia handles, the size and so forth, but 24 MPG in this small of a vehicle is ridiculous.

I also own a 2004 Corvette, and it gets better mileage.

I will go back to Toyota...should never left, but due to the tsunami in Japan, couldn't get the Scion, my mistake, should have just waited until they were available again.

Disappointed in Marshall, Texas

Purchased a Kia Soul + in May 2011 with one of the perks being gas mileage of 26/32MPG EPA rating. Bever got close to either receiving around 22 city and 27 highway with a combined 24-25MPG.

Then Kia offered rebates for all Soul owners of 2012-**** model years saying that 2011 Kia Soul's got advertised MPG to which I say BS. Traded in my gas hog Soul last month and went back to Ford and bought a Focus which so far gets exactly what the EPA estimates of 31 city and 38 highway consistently and a much better constructed automobile. Kia and as far as I'm concerned Hyundai have lost a customer forever and I deter as many people as I can from purchasing their vehicles saying that they do not deliver nor back up their vehicles when it comes time to fess up.

It's amazing that a 2011 Soul gives it's advertised MPG's but a 2012/2013 Soul does not although all three years mechanically are the same. May you die and not prosper.

"have a fuel consumption test done on my car"

You have been doing a fuel consumption test!! The way it is done in the real world, since the speedometer met the odometer. Simple math like below, will tell the truth, not the CPU in your KIA. It can be programmed to lie, like KIA Executives ( speculation on that statement hard to prove ).

Use the old fashion way.

1. Fill tank and mark mileage down

2. At the next fill up, take mileage and subtract from #1

3. Divide by gallons put in

4 Finally, you will realize, you have been cheated by KIA.

My point exactly, they knew what your mpg was going to be and held it from the public, gas milage that is. My Mother and USMC training would call that deceptive. Someone might say they lied....

So the truth finally comes out with the $88. or less that we get for the lifetime of owning the vehicle.

I have the LTD. 2011 "Tiger" Soul I have complained about the mpg. since May 2011 with gas prices being what they are I wonder if they (Kia)thinks this is enough? I don't it is a bandaid to me.

I know I'll remember this when I decide to purchase again. Honesty is key to me and Kia knew all along as well as the dealership service reps everyone but the ones spending the money :upset

We have had our 2012 kia soul ! for about 2 mos now, we are very frustrated with mpgs on this car!

I think its actually getting worse.

Im not an aggressive driver and this tiny car should at least get the city miles but it never does and I drive mostly open freeway! I wish companies would be held liable for false advertising even in the mpg dept!!!

I have a 2012 and no matter WHAT I do, I can not get above 23 mpg!!!! I brought it back to the dealership and they told me that there was nothing wrong with it!! :(

I have a Kia Soul+ with the ECO feature. I actually waited to buy this particular vehicle becuase it was supposed to get the better gas mileage than the older models.

And that is important for me for financial reasons. After a little over 3,000 (about 50% hwy @ approximately 55 mph) I have averaged just 24.88. This veicle is rated to get 26/34 mpg. This is only about 3 mpg more than I got with my 2008 Kia Sedona!

(which is very good for that vehicle). Every car I have had in the last 15 years has had at least, if not better, gas mileage that claimed I should get my the manufacturer.

I have the same yr make and model and I too am getting 24-26 MPG! How do we get more on board with this and get something out of that company? One lady just won her battle over fuel economy with Honda!
