Sprouts Farmers Market - Meat Department, band saws

Hello,

First let me give you a little background that may help you understand why I am writing today.

I live in Fruita CO, about 19 miles from the Spouts market that I or my wife shop at weekly.

I was shopping at my local Sprouts market two weeks ago Saturday, and as I have always done in the past, I requested two 14 oz Tuna steaks cut from frozen, so I could use them later in the week. If I purchase from the counter, they usually go bad before I can eat them.

I had to purchase an enormous chunk of tuna that I then had to thaw and slice into three pieces. Most people know, you can't refreeze Tuna once it has been thawed. What a waste of food...

I also ask for special cuts of beef or even pork that requires the workers behind the counter to cut them to my satisfaction. I was disappointed with this as well.

So, I was informed that they cannot provide the excellent customer service I have come to expect any longer, as the Band Saws have been taken away.

Also...

Spouts no longer provides grocery bags any longer. Yes, I get the plastic thing, but the paper bags decompose with no issue. I use my grocery bags as trash bags. So, let's think about that for a minute.

Now that I have no paper bags to use as trash bags, I now purchase thicker, less environmentally friendly plastic trash bags. Instead of using bags that can totally decompose in a landfill. Thanks to sprouts, I am now contributing to the plastic waste that is so damaging to our environment. So in essence, the lack of paper bags has had a devastating impact on both the environment and my carbon footprint.

After submitting this to Pissed Consumer, I was contacted by customer relations and the short answer I received was less then palatable.

The answer consisted of only two sentences that obviously came from a person not interested in providing solutions.

So bottom line, Spouts does not care that their decision to no-longer carry paper bags has become an environmental catastrophe. In two months time, we used 2lbs of plastic trash bags instead of the biodegradable paper bags we have used for years.

Also, the Customer relations person forwarded my complaint about removing their band-saws back to the meat department of my local store, who, can do nothing about the issue.

Severe lack of forethought and just another case of a corporation telling us what they think we want to hear.

Thank you,

Bill Jackson
