Andrew, the manager! was a total rude *** to me about a return....a total ***!!

Petco #384840
Did you ask the guy what his age was? I highly doubt that you did. I guess your fear of getting old must have really kicked in when you saw such a "young" manager who in reality was probably much older than he looked.
I've been a manager for a long time, and I have a very young face. I'm near 30 years old and I've been told recently that I look like I'm only 14! Customers have always given many funny looks when I PROUDLY (not boastfullY) tell them that I am the manager. They think I'm just a kid and that's exactly how they treat me.
My point is, you shouldn't pick on the manager's age and appearance just because you didn't like the fact that he was following policy on returns.

@Concerned Pet Owner
It's called freedom of speech. We aren't at work and we're not on the clock. We can say whatever we want. Which district manager are you going to call? You don't even know who any us are, where we live, let alone what district we work in.
You would "think twice before entrusting my pet to people who represent themselves and their employer in this manner"?
So we aren't allowed to defend ourselves or have opinions?
Just because we disagree with a customer complaint, it doesn't mean we would harm an animal! I love animals! It's most customers that I can't stand! Most of you are irresponsible, know it alls who want all of us to kiss the ground you walk on!
Heck, you customers are even too good to have to wait "ten" whole minutes!

We do have the right to refuse the sale of any animal, including fish. Just because you don't care about their lives, it doesn't mean we don't.
@Sup
Yeah, we could say no gaurantee on the fish, but why should the fish have to suffer to just please a couple of idiots who don't know anything about fish?
I'm sorry, but at petco, the animals come first NOT the customer. If the customer doesn't like that or can't understand than we don't need their business and they don't need any pets either!

It's against policy to look up receipts! Duh! Again, this is an LP issue. Losing your job isn't worth it. A gift card is not the end of the world. The customer will eventually need to get food for their pet anyways! They can use that forsaken gift card for that!

Just an FYI- petco employees don't make the prices. Corporate does. So why don't you ask them why they are different if you really need to know.

You are so full of ***. Liar. It is completely against policy to restock any opened food item returned by a customer!
Why are you insinuating that it's petco fault that a few bags of food had mold/fungus or bugs. It's the manufacturer's fault. The mealmoths got into the food at their facilities. If they had mold/fungus than the food got wet at the MANUFACTURER'S facility.
Stop blaming petco just because you are a disgruntled employee

Do not buy a bird from them. Mine died!

Petco #384809
I'm sorry for your loss. It's unfortunate that your beloved bird died.
Birds can be very fragile especially when they are young. They also hide illnesses very well, usually until it's too late to do anything. It's survival instinct. In the wild, if they show weakness they will be left behind by the flock, which severely cuts down their chances of survival.
If your conure was that young his immune system could've been very weak, add that to the stressful situation of traveling from the vendor to the store and then to your home and you have the perfect recipe for contracting an illness (usually respiratory infection for birds).
The store was right though. The health gaurantee is only 15 days, which is actually longer than PetSmart's. You did have the bird for a month and a half. So it was probably exposed to something in your care. The only real way to confirm is to do a necropsy, but I would imagine that it is too late by now.

Petco cheated me out of my free bag of cat foodE

Petco #384804
Petco isn't out to "scam" you. Something's obviously not registering when you buy your food. To correct the problem you need to call 888-824-PALS. Unfortunately there's nothing that the store can do in this situation. The PALS program is handled by another department withing petco.
Honestly, it's really hard for cat customers to earn a free big bag of food because cats don't eat as much as dogs. Plus you only have (had) 12 months to purchase ten bags to get your coupon for the free one. It's not enough time unless you buy in bulk in the 12th month. I had to buy 3 bags at one time to earn my coupon in time.

Worst Grooming and Customer Service Experience Ever

Petco #384803
We really aren't supposed to dislose anybody's last name to a customer. Besides, it's unneccesary. If you call the customer service number they'll ask you what store you had a problem at and with who. It's unlikely to have several employees with the same first name in one store.
Stefanie probably wasn't lying to you. She probably didn't know all the services you were charged, so she probably told you the base price of the groom.
That being said, you should never have had to pay for the groom in the first place. If the groomer can't finish the dog, the customer doesn't pay. That's how our groomers do things in our store.

Understaffed/wouldn't accept my cash

Petco #384794
We aren't allowed to use that pen anymore. It's considered defacing government property. Plus it only identifies that is a real bill. It doesn't verify the actual amount. Conterfeiters can bleach out a five dollar bill and make the bill look like a $100 bill.
I'm sorry the cashier was ignorant. She should've called a manager to the front if she doubted the legitimacy of your money. The problem with those machines is that they only work on very brand new $50s and $100s. So your money was probably older. The manager would've been able to verify the currency by holding it up to a light.

We only ask to see an ID if you don't look like you're 18.
I don't believe your story either. A dead ferret in a cage?! I don't think so. Ferrets rarely die. I've worked for Petco for almost a decade and we had maybe 3 ferrets total die in that span(most likely from a respiratory infection of some kind).
The ferret was probably sleeping and you're too *** to tell the difference. I can't tell you how many times a customer has told me there was dead animal in a cage only to discover the animal was actually sleeping and I had to disturb their slumber. Poor things.

The headline for this complaint should read, "my dog had an allergic reaction and I need to blame someone!"
Why is it petco's fault that your dog had an allergic reaction? It's an issue that you should have addressed by the manufacturer, K9 Advantix. Then again there is a WARNING label on the box. Maybe you should start reading those things.

Petco #384769
You don't even have the ability to form sentences properly and you think you could do my job? HA!!! I blame the tv commercials. People think that working at a pet store involves playing with the animals all day and doing a minimal amount of work. That's a joke. It is one of the hardest retail jobs there is.
You try stocking dog and cat litter for eight hours, helping moronic customers like yourself, cleaning up urine and *** from customer's pets (because they are too lazy to do it themselves), taking care of a variety of animals properly, catching animals and being bitten on a regular basis and cleaning animals' cages and the store.
It's not easy and it certainly isn't fun.

Petco #384760
Wow. You ARE ***. I am so tired of *** customers not understanding basic economics!! You learn about this in elementary school people! When you buy retail, you pay overhead prices because it cost money to run a store!!
You are right about one thing though, the company has gone down hill in the last 3 to 4 years. It started when the company went from being publicly traded to privately owned. Stop blaming the employees for things they can't control. Corporate has significantly cut stores' payroll. Which doesn't give the employees time to do everything that needs to be done. It's actually very stressful. That's probably why you've been encountering so many young and inexperienced employees. The old employees probably got tired of being treated like *** by corporate and quit. Lucky ducks.

Petco- sells sick animals and doesn't care!!

Petco #384755
I am sorry for your loss.
I work for petco and I justed wanted to let you know that that store was the exception, not the rule.
Whenever I sell an animal I inform the customer about everything. I tell them about the health guarantee and tell them what signs of illness to look out for. That being said, I have NEVER knowingly sold a sick animal. It is against my morals and beliefs and it is against petco's policy.
Unfortunately animals get sick. People do too. Petco isn't hiding sick hamsters from customers. The wellness area is a "hospital" room to treat the sick animals (it's also used for overstock animals). Leaving a sick animal on the sales floor would surely lead to it's death. It is more stressful for the sick animal and they could also be attacked by their "roommates". It's no different than someone being in a hospital when they are very sick. It's where they'll get the best treatment and care, and increase their odds of survival.

Petco - Worst customer service ever

Petco #384726
@Shell
Petco also has alot of wonderful brands. They might be higher priced on some items, that's what the price match is for (excluding internet prices, live animals, and services). Petco also has a rewards program for "cardholders" that gives them sale prices and coupons.
@Alhdvm
They should have price matched the Iams biscuits for sure, but not the dog food. It's basic economics. When you buy ANYTHING in retail you are paying 2 to 3 times more than what the product is worth because of overhead. It costs money to run a store. Employees don't work for free. Power plants won't let you keep lights on in a store for free. Trucker drivers won't work for free. Gas stations won't let truck drivers take as much gas as they want for free. Overhead pays for all that. I guess you never learned about that in school though, huh?

@John
You are a ***!!! You don't know anything about dogs or cats. I don't even understand why you're looking at comments about petco if you don't even own any pets. Why do you even care? No one NEEDS a pet, but alot of people WANT them because they do enjoy their companionship and love.
Dogs and cats don't need "gourmet" food, but they do need and deserve the proper nutrition provided by the more expensive formulas. You usually get what you pay for. The cheap food is mostly corn, wheat, soy, and very little animal protein. If you knew ANYTHING about dogs and cats (which you obviously don't) you would know that their natural diet consists of mostly animal protein and quality fruits and vegetables. Read the labels on the cheap food and compare to your so-called "gourmet" food and you should understand what you are paying for.
*Sidenote- when you feed the cheap food you have to feed 2 to 3 times as much to get the same amought of nutrition and calories as the more expensive forumulas because dogs and cats can't properly digest corn, soy, and wheat. So in the long run, it doesn't save any money by buying the cheap stuff but it will give your pets really bad gas!
