Best Buy refuesed my check for no reason

Best Buy #367162
Due to privacy laws, the store personnel will never know why your check was rejected. That is SOP and has been for years at all retailers. Best Buy contracts with the third party and purchases over a certain limit, usually, $200, are heavily scrutinized. The parameters are set by BBY corporate Loss Prevention.
Could be many reasons why check was rejected; that does not necessarily mena you have bad credit - BTW, Why wouldn't you then pay on your credit card and your mother/you write the check to reimburse you?

I don't don't shop at BBY, but this incident is not a reason to abandon, lest show the world youhave nothing better to do than post ridiculous anecdotes.

Lowes #367155
That is an original QC issue. Probably could have gotten Whirlpool to send you another drawer close to the purchase date. But this is not a functional (electrical, electronic, mechanical) issue so your warranty company has nothing to do with it. There's no violation of the service contract here. Rig up something yourself to make a better fit.

Two points - I would NEVER listen to a BBY sales associate much less buy anything there. BBY would not be profitable if not for their "services." Pressure up and down the line forces store employees to say anything.
Your terms and conditions in the booklet do not list accidental damage - it doesn't apply to game consoles. You would lose this case in a small claims court - "sales" associates word of mouth is heresay.

Best Buy Lemon Policy-what a joke!

Best Buy #348445
GSBBPPs mask the mfr warranty. The plan administrator does NOT take any responsibilty for mfr warranty work (it's in the terms). So, any repairs in year 1 don't count towards a lemon. These points are NEVER clearly spelled out in any extended plan - the intent is to confuse the customer. One needs a JD to understand the fine print - that is also intentional. All marketing - NEVER take a BBY sales person's word for anything as they are pressured to sell these. Does any retailer want you to read the terms, in the middle of the sales floor no less? Those in the stores including the mgrs don't fully understand them as they have a script to live by.

Sending refurbs is an option also in the terms. It should be the same product, though.

Retailers

Moral: Shop online at Amazon or Newegg. No hassles. No extended nonsense.

Does not honor waranty

Office Depot #341892
They could not have entered it incorrectly. There is only one price per plan. All start from the "Date of Purchase" = a consumer deception as it masks the mfr warranty. So, the "3 year plan" there is 2 additional years. If you took the premium plan, it covers damages, spills and cracks as well in all 3 years.
You were had. FYI - Staples adn Best Buy do the same thing with their warranties.
Also, repairs during the mfr warranty, by the mfr, DON'T count towards your "lemon" replacement. Another deception.
You were had.
File a complaint with the BBB and your state's Dept of Consumer Affairs.

Someone is mis-informing you. The 2 year plan is on top of the 1 year warranty. The date of purchase for mfr warranty purposes is, legally, date of delivery. (What if you were building a house?). Anyhow, what's the big deal about the first three years on an appliance - which should last much, much longer.

Your coverage in year three is exactly same as mfr.

@sherry - your call to corporate is like contacting momma grizzly with cubs in tow. They're all in it for the profit. Year 1 is intentially "masked" to conceal what the mfr warranty represents. Your plan is from day 1 - it actually says it in the brochure. But then again a clause in the fine print says the mfr is responsible under their warranty.

Your plan adds damage, liquid spills and battery coverage in year 1. Then again, battery failure in year one is rare and thus irrelevent. If damage is not an issue, then your plan just adds a 1 year extension at a very steep price.

All deceptive. Also, Office Depot must make at least 50% margin on that plan. Then the company that administers it must make another 25-40%. The underwriter gets a cut. This is what you paid for.

Outside pressure works better - contact your state's Division of Consumer Affairs.

The reason the shop and Lowes extended service give you the runaround is that the plan you bought only covered years 3 or 3 and 4, given the unit has a 2-year warranty. the plan "beginning from the date of purchase is a ruse as the mfr is responsible for work under its warranty. The brochure is very deceiving. I suggest to email Lowes Corporate Escalations with a copy to the State Atty General's Office. Someone will jump.
Also, both the warranty and the plan exclude physical damage, attachments and other accessories.

While 99% of the time I would castigate BBY and its plans, this is a bit different. the fact that the store swapped a unit was admirable. Legally, they could have sent it to the mfr to get repaired - you may have been better off. Replacement after the mfr warranty is usually done with a gift card. The ONLY monies the GSBBRP is liable for is the amount of the purchase, not a dime more. When technology changes and you have a unique product, well, thems the breaks. If not user induced, you could have sent it out for repair (if it wasn't totally fried). Every single retail extended plan has the same clause/conditions.

The Buyer Protection plan brochure is extremely deceiving. You're right, there is no specific procedure or coverage details for your power wheels. Then again, you took the "word" of a cashier. Best Buy Extended Warranty Plan A Lie

Best Buy #313536
Anything the "sales" people say is conjecture and heresay. If you really think you should buy a plan, ask for the terms and conditions. A little dilemma, though, the last thing the store wants you to do is read it, especially when they expect you to make a spot decision on the extended plan. If you are prone to breaking phones in the first 18 months, the least expensive plan (AT&T) is $6 a month or $72 a year with $xxx deductible. BBYs plans are more expensive. You calculate the risk.
fyi - the credit card gives an extra year, but not damage or spills coverage.
If your plan does in fact have damage coverage, you were had and ought to get your state's Division of Consumer Affairs involved.

@paul - with all due respect - for a $499 laptop without damage coverage, BBY charges $119.

You all are getting your clocks cleaned.
@glob - you would have paid well over $300 for a plan with damage.
@griselda, rae - most plans only pay fair market value if product, especially computer, is "replaced."

Sadly, we learn the hard way that:
1. Everything "said" at retail is HERESAY.
2. Most of what is "said" contains some form of myth, half-truths and deceptions - there is tremendous pressure to sell the extended services at all costs as the profit margin on laptops especially is minute.

Your experience would not differ that much whether you shop at Staples, Office Depot, Office Max or Worst Buy.

Buy online. Expert and peer reviews. Great pricing, no tax.
