Norton AntiVirus - Norton running a Scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

After purchasing Norton 360 from Best Buy I went to redeem my product code but Norton requires that I sign up for a auto-renewal even though I have no desire to do so. Further they do not let you redeem your purchased product unless you provide them with your PCI (Personal Credit Information) which they do not need.

This is not only unethical but illegal as PCI is federally protected information and a company cannot require you to supply it unless there is a legal reason for them to do so. Norton has no legal reason for this thus they are attempting collect PCI in an illegally manner. To understand fully it is like going to the grocery store an buy products for cash and to do so you must give the cashier your SSN (another federally protected piece of personal information).

So be forewarned if Norton is willing to not only be unethical but actually commit illegal actions there is no telling what they might do with your PCI. If required I do have my Best Buy proof of purchase I and spoke to Norton and my Case #7296**** and spoke to a Supervisor about this Keshav (no last name provided of course) and they could nothing as it is corporate policy to illegally collect PCI.

Precisely. Basically the only reason they are actually requiring this is to get a hold of you PCI (Personal Credit Information) so that they can sell it to make additional income.

Yeah, yeah they will deny they are doing this but that is a load of B.S. and meant to be a smoke screen. Once they have that data they are free to do with it as they will and there is a major market in that kind of information.

Whether obtained legally or in this case illegally. Always protect your PCI it can be easily used to steal your identity.

they started this requirement a few years ago its basically to assure them payment , odd thing is when mine was up for renewal they sent emails about renewal and "claimed to charge my card " which they never did ( conformed by bank) and about 3 weeks until the end they stopped the program from running , all i got was summary but you get idea " oops too bad need to contact bank to fix the payment option" uh................ you never charged my card! only work around is to goto a store ( best buy or walamrt, target etc..) but the card for it ( use to be a box not its like a gift card) and update that way

You have an idea of what they are up to if you analyze it a bit further you can actually see what they are up to.
