Citizens Bank of New England...the WORST!!

Well, it's rather inolved, but my opening a Heloc in May on 2011 was a major error...it was with Citizen's Bank. Rates were good, customer service was good, but EVERYTHING went wrong! 1. They required credit cards be issued...fine...we asked for "cash back" but they sent the wrong ones. Special promotion lasted 60 days but they deducted the days that we had to wait for the right card, 2. They required a checking account where th4y could automatically deduct the monthly interest payment on the Heloc. No problem, but I always sent in a check "FOR PRINCIPAL ONLY" and sometimes they deducted the interest payment from there though there were ample funds in the checking account, 3. Their loan document has an illegal clause (in Massachusetts) removing my Homestead Exemption upon signing. I questioned it (and notated same) at the "closing and after months of fighting to make them aware that this is illegal, I got my lawyer to research the legality of the clause. It IS ILLEGAL, but Citizen's made no effort to acknowledge the error or resolve it. So I decided to pay of my HELOC after about 10 months. 4. Went to the branch where I opened the accounts, asked for the total payoff with acrued interest, and wrote a check. They called 2 days later with conformation that all was well. Now they are demanding about 2 months of interest...for what I have NO IDEA. About $260. All my efforts, faxes, letters and phone calls have gotten nowhere. I DO NOT OWE THIS MONEY but they will not acknowledge their error. I am furious. 5. There's more stupidity to the actions of Citizen's bank in my brief association with them, but PLEASE, avoid this bank at all costs. Use a small bank or credit union.

Hello. Citizen's Bank remains on my "never again" list.

After about a month, I did finally get the return of my $270...not a great deal of money, but I would fight for a nickel if I am RIGHT! About a week ago the refund check came. There was no explanation, no apology...just a check...which was mu goal I guess. I WOULD have like to know if they admitted their error or just wanted to shut me up.

Anyway, during the "waiting period for my refund", I sent out 14 letters. Two were certified, signature required, to the headquarters of the bank (Office of the President) and some other uppity up who I researched but can't remember who he was. I sent 11 letters to the members of the Board of directors and, for good measure, a copy to the Comptroller of the Currency. They have turned that letter over to the Banking commission so I guess I will get to tell my story AGAIN to a federal agency, which I am more than happy to do.

The moral of the story, if you HAVE to use Citizen's Bank for other than savings or checking, find a small local bank instead. My HELOC was a fiasco from day 1, which you will see if you read the original letter I submitted on this matter.

Polite people, insufficiently trained and impossible to work with if there is an error. My 1 word recommendation: AVOID!

Pricebreak.com AVOID at all costs!

Quite simply, here's the story. I ordered a set of replacement electric shaver heads for my neighbor. PriceBreak.com sent the wrong ones...about $30 or so. I returned them at my expense for shipping and insurance...2 weeks later (or so) no reply. I called...kept being put on hold, (I am NOT a yeller!!), called back.... hold...called back...hold...called back...got through and was told they deducted 15% restocking fee (THEY sent wrong item) and I was out shipping costs both ways. Refunded about $20 to my credit card. I complained. Had I not called, they would have not refunded the 15% restocking fee nor my shipping (which I am waiting for). I am still out about $4 for return shipping and insurance, as they only refunded about $20+. I assume they will update that after today's conversation. By the way, they told me that the item they sent was the same item, new replacement number 56 instead of 55. NOT SO. This company, in my opinion, makes its money on inflated shipping, restocking fees and expects that people will just give up. DO NOT BUY from Pricebreak.com. Avoid the hassle.

I can only speak for my son and his new wife who bought a living room set from Bob's. (My wife and I have also bought a few things there and they are OK...but they are not the type of items that need "goof Proof" insurance).Anyway, my son was assured that in the event...
