Verizon Wireless - Poor home signal

The cell phone signal at my home has been fading for about a year now. I contacted customer service to see what could be done. I know that they send customers signal boosters as a remedy to such problems. But they told me that since I am not a contract customer, they can't send me one. I guess contract money is worth more than non-contract money. Ridiculous!
