Home Shopping Network - HSN does not honor ads for flex pay

I ordered a tv and placed it on my cc with the 4 payment flex payment option. I had more than enough credit available. I noticed two days later that the same item was now only available with 1 or 2 payment option. On day 3 after I placed the order, I received a call from their security department. They told me that because I chose to ship to another address other than my own, I would have to answer some security questions. I agreed. The first question asked was who my auto loan was with. I don not have an auto loan nor have I had one in over 25 years, so I answered does not apply. Whom do you do your banking with? I answered none of the above because the did not list the bank I have my 15 year account with! They asked for the last 4 numbers in my ssn. All the numbers they read to me started with 5. Mine starts with 7 so of course I answered none of the above. And the best one is when they named 4 persons who may have lived with me in the past 10 years. I have lived in the same home for over 18 years, and I would think that I would know who lived with me, BUT HOW WOULD THEY KNOW! THIS IS BS.OH WHATS NEXT! WHAT COLOR UNDERWEAR WAS I WEARING WHEN I PLACED MY ORDER? THESE QUESTIONS ARE BSOF COURSE I FAILED... AND THEY LOCKED MY ACCOUNT.This has to be by design. I placed the order, using their "secure website" I typed in the address I wanted the item shipped to when I placed the order. This make no sense with one exception. It sounds like they did a credit check, didn't like what they saw, and cancelled my purchase. I said to them, well just ship it to my home address, and they said because I failed their security questions my account is locked and cannot be changed.I will be looking into this to see if this is legal and if they can be sued. I know what my credit is. If they stated that purchases are based on a credit check I wouldn't have ordered anything from them.

Not to mention that it is illegal to do a credit check without your express consent. Maybe HSN needs to be sued for doing credit checks without a person's consent.

This has been a common practice with them. The old rope a *** a.

They tried it on me and I told them to shove it. That was about 6 years ago.

The same happen to me I was too ***. I order a cellphone and a laptop on flexpay.

Then took my payment then not telling me they cancel my order for the laptop. I founded out when I was reviewing my order status. They tell me that for first time buyers that I have a limit. My phone was 49.99 flexpay so that was my limit.

I'm sitting waiting on my laptop for school and didnt even know it was cancel. Too *** :(

I just wanted to post my current dealings with HSN so others can be forewarned. I'm in the same boat as the others when "HSN does not honor their flexpay".

I've ordered a few items from QVC on both their payment plans and outright and have never encountered a problem. This time, HSN had the laptop that I wanted, so despite many bad reviews, decide to give them a try.

Placed my order, they charged my card. The next day receive a call stating they can not accept my debit card (a standard 53 bank issued debit!)so they give me a number to call for further information. The person behind the new number tells me due to my credit (my credit isn't 100% but certainly not bad!)I can not take advantage of their flexpay on the computer, but would I still like to go ahead and buy the additional items I purchased and flex pay for the comforter set that I ordered. What?! I qualify for flex pay on one item but not the other ($100 difference) ?! NO thanks!! So I kindly reply no thank you, please refund my money.

So he cancels my order BUT marks my order as "Credit card declined". You took my money, my credit card was NOT declined! So currently I am waiting for the refund to take place, it's since been 72'ish hours so we'll see come Monday how quickly they refund monies.

Let it be known, I have never ordered from HSN so this isn't a case of defaults on previous orders, can not verify personal info, etc. I'm confused but whatever, I'll just buy the *** thing outright and not deal with this BS

I apologize for the single paragraph, apparently you can not use multiple paragraphs on this forum??

The credit checks are not illegal.

By creating an HSN account, you agree to their terms. This means a possible credit check, based on the information provided.

I'm sorry the security questions sucked, however, this is common practice with MOST online websites that sell items..

Those questions are pulled from PUBLIC RECORD.

Cry, cry, cry.. Just what the typical *** does when they don't get their way.

Have a nice day.

I live the way you sit here and bash people using your LACK of knowledge. Just because you couldn't get a good job and had to work for HSN doesn't mean you need to talk *** to people.

All you know is what your skeezy employer told you. Back your rude comments up with facts! Let me inform you as a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER! It is illegal to conduct a credit check without the customers consent!

This is not something you can put in fine print.

The customer must know about it. Anything else you want to talk about you rude piece if ***??

HSN did not honor their flex pay for me either. I ordered a camera for 219 on 4 flex pay.

Not a huge order, paid via credit card, then received a phone call saying it was not available but I could pay for the camera in its entirety. I went to QVC and they took care of me.
