We have been with Pemco for over 20 years, and never filed a claim. However, between auto and home insurance, we were paying over $3000.00 for insurance.
In November, we had a windstorm, and 8 big trees fell into our yard.
It damaged our water holding tank, well, shed, and garden area, and pulled up a side of our driveway.
We sent photos of all the damage to Pemco. We also sent them estimates to repair the holding tank and well. (we were mainly concerned with getting water to the house.)
After sending an adjuster out to see the damage, Pemco concluded that there was not much damage, and questioned why the holding tank and well estimate was so high. "why is this estimate so high, when you can have it done for $1000??"
We were unable to contact the agent after that, and never heard about our claim.
They did however send us a bill for $3000, or they would cancel our insurance!
We told them we were using the $3000.00 to pay for our well...
and not giving them any more money!!
What a bunch of crooks! Thanks for nothing!!!

I had white smoke coming from my exhaust and the fuel injector was stuck open and dumped fuel all over my engine. Now I need a new engine.
I had a few odd things that happen before I noticed the white smoke like :
Injector stayed open and bent the rods.
Lane Assist disable and called SOS on its own then the Traction control light came on, and car went into Manual mode. I have been getting the run around with Mercedes USA and Pemco insurance.

Adjuster and Contractor conspired
When a complaint to the Washington Insurance Comm. was made initially it sounded as if we had found help.
In July of 2018 we followed his instructions and complied completely with Pemco's Supervisor, Adjuster and hired engineer’s requests. After going through the house with different contractors, Pemco determined that all of the complaints that went unheard or ignored at the time, were found to be "due to bad workmanship" by the contractor. The report then stated we needed to work it out the issues with the same contractor. The outcome was unbelievable considering the second meeting ever with the contractor he explained how the contact protocol would work as follows, we were to talk to Shannon White if we had any issues and he would work with her.
There is not a word that would describe this turn of events. The only good thing this fiasco brought about was, after the insistence of my sister who was by now helping me; Pemco's adjuster finally approved a payment for clothing we were told in (Dec 2016) maybe contaminated with asbestoses and to dispose of them. Up until July 2018 the adjuster never explained nor even mentioned this benefit we had paid extra for. Pemco’s final determination and report was sent to the Commissioner who then wanted a complete list of what was not addressed by Pemco in the last inspection.
Within two days the Insurance Commissioner contacted us to say; “Pemco has done all they are going to,” and basically they can’t be made to do anymore.
“You need to hire an attorney”. That was That.
Pemco's adjuster introduced and recommended specific contractor. Contractor was not officially hired for 7 days.
A fake contract was later discovered with a forged homeowner signature. In the made up contract, permission was given to allow contractor to be paid directly from Pemco and for the scope of work to be decided by contractor and approved by adjuster. The homeowner was completely by-passed opening the door for unnecessary and unwanted work to be done. Adjuster approved every charge billed over and above homeowner's objections and complaint of substantial inferior work.
Incorrect permits were pulled and work was done by unlicensed and untrained personal. Due to deliberate misinformation, inspections were not adequate to discover the actual second-rate work. Work that now has to be torn out and redone. The adjuster allowed $177,000.
paid out to the contractor alone. When a complaint was made, information came to light that the contractor had submitted bills 1 day after the neighbor's tree fell on our house, a week before he was hired. There were even two billing on several charges for thousands of dollars extra. Not one charge was called to question until 3 months after the contractor was paid in full.
By then everything was considered said and done. An investigation by Pemco determined all of the problems that continue was due to "poor workmanship" and we were/are to work that out with the contractor!
I will say: The amount of money Pemco paid out on the claim was more than enough to cover the restoration needed and then some. If not for the adjuster and the contractor working together at the expense of my family our house would been better than before, instead it has been destroyed.
- Adjuster did not work for claimant
Preferred solution: pay for work to be redone and up to code
Adjuster and Contractor conspired our loss $150K
The loss is estimated at $150,000.00 thousand dollars not 150.
Terrible
Still waiting on a claim from nearly a month ago. Terrible service, and communication from adjuster is non existent. They had no problem increasing my rates in a timely manner.
PEMCO Insurance - Pemco Auto Insurance Review from Seattle, Washington
If you have Pemco Mutual Auto insurance I suggest you cancel your policy and move elsewhere. After getting into a car accident on 10/31/15 at which the other party was determined to be completely at fault on 12/09/15, the rental car account was just settled today on 01/11/16 after I initiated multiple phone calls to get it resolved.
Unacceptable. I returned my rental car and picked up my repaired car on 12/09/15. It has been over a month and they hadn't paid the bill on the rental car and Enterprise was coming after my credit card. I am just beside myself.
Horrible, horrible experience. I'm glad I have Statefarm.
No Recommended to anyone
I had insurance with Pemco for while and my payment was on every 15th of month until I bought new vehicle and on November 1th I ordered new insurance for my new vehicle.
It's showed me to pay about $99 to that period that I already paid for my old vehicle insurance and I had about 15 days left, about half of my old payment and they stile owe me.
After 15 day's I called the and canceled my insurance because I found a cheaper insurance company. The day after, they charged me for $240 for new month and I called them again to refund my money and they told me we will send you a check by mail.
One week later I got a check for only $27.36 and I called them to refund my money but the person I was talking with ignored me and she didn't even try for understand my issue.
I don't recommend this insurance to anyone. You can find cheaper insurance with just a few calls.
- Price and refund money
Preferred solution: I need to refund my money in full.
Poor customer service
I called to report water damage to Pemco. I was immediately told my insurance rates would go up if I filed this claim.
We have been covered by Pemco for 6 years with no previous claimed.
The adjuster came out promptly and asked me to get a quote. It was submitted and it took the adjuster a month to let me know he would like another quote. The second quote was submitted 3 weeks ago and I have requested a response from the adjuster.
I am still waiting. Very poor customer service.
Yes, they're a little different.
If you want an insurance company that does *NOT look out for you, their customer; then they would be a good choice.
After 22 years of driving with no at fault accidents, and 9 years of clean driving while insured with Pemco; they let another driver take advantage of me because my front bumper bumped this drivers back bumper. There was no body damage to the vehicle, any normal and decent person would have waved it off as no problem. Pemco, lets this guy get away with seeking $10K + On top of this, my Pemco claim rep was more interested in making me at fault and treated me like a child.
Unfortunately a real accident occurred due to obstructed vision and oil slick roads. A witness to this accident who lives in the area, describes this road as accident prone, reporting two more accidents happened just within a week or a month of my accident. It should be noted that Pemco did not even see that I had a safe way home following this accident, and a stranger gave me a ride home. And again, this Pemco claim rep also treated me like a child. From the first incident, I can only assume they let this person get a way with the bank.
After my policy expired, I was told to have a month to get a car reinstated. After upon working to do so, I called Pemco and they essentially changed their mind.
Again, after 22 years of driving with no at fault accidents, and 9 years of clean driving while insured with Pemco; they would not cover me because of the above.
So in short, Pemco is an insurance company that will happily sit by and take your money, but when their services are needed they do not help you, treat you like a child, and then "abandon" you.
Pemco is forcing me to sue to settle my claim

A Pemco insured car hit my car from the rear about a year ago. The next morning when I tried to get out of bed I found I was stiff and sore and very dizzy when I got up.
I saw my family doctors on Monday, the next day and my doctor diagnosed severe Whiplash. Pain medicine was prescribed and I had a severe reaction to it and I ended up in the emergency room with a possible heart attack. I am not taking 3 Ibuprofen 800Mg per day to keep the pain and swelling down. I have been treated by a physical therapist, acupuncturist, and naturopathic doctor up until just after January of this year.
My own insurance company ordered an Independent Medical Exam that consists of 18 pages and it corroborates everything all of the 5 doctors I have been treated by have stated. I contacted Heather Larson, heather.larson@***.com, and wanted to know if Pemco wanted to settle my case. She offered me $12,500.00 plus expenses to settle my case. Now remember I have been through *** for a year at this point and it does not look like the pain, stiffness, and dizziness is going to go away soon.
I was appalled and insulated by the amount offered. I asked to speak to Heather’s superior and I was given the name and contact information for; Todd Sommers. He can be reached at 1-80*-467-**** Ext. 8940.
I called Todd I tried to reason with him but got nowhere. This is the same insurance company whose insured hit the son of our close friend and caused brain damage. The attorney for this young man offered to settle for 1.7 million but Pemco turned them down. The case went to court 4 years later and the attorneys for Pemco tried to destroy the young man’s credibility but the jury did not buy it.
They awarded our friends son who will always be disabled 5.6 million in damages.
This is what Pemco is all about.
Taylor bridge fire
august 14th my house and shop were completly destroyed by a fire started by a construction company welding on a bridge. pemco sent out a adjuster quickly.
my car was paid for within a week and my personal belongings soon after. well when it came to my house thats a different story. i have been through 4 wild fires there and decided that i dont want to live there anymore. so pemco says if i rebuild that will pay policy max if i dont they will pay actual cash value on the structures.
i chose not to rebuild trusting that pemco would have an honest appraisel done. the appraisel came back and it would leave me owing the bank about 61,000. i couldnt believe it. well after i seen the appraisel i started looking into it.
there first two comps were in my development. come to find out they were only active listings not sales or even pending sales. then there were three more outside of my area. two were cash sales bank owned.
there net adjustments were over 20% and the gross were 31 to 51%. a bank would not accept more than 15%. the adjuster was asked to do it again and she used the same comps. only difference was what was an active listing now was a sale.
she lied and said it was pending at the time of the first appraisel and since has sold. i checked the records and it didnt become a pending until two weeks after the first appraisel. its been almost five months since i lost my house and pemco has yet to give a fair offer. so today she offered to do another appraisel only based on the time of the fire.
we cant use any comps after that date. so the first time the comps were ten months prior to the fire and a month after. now they cant be after. shes making up her own rules.
the reason why is there was a good sale at the time of her second appraisel 4 houses from mine. and she intentionaly over looked it so pemco wont have to pay a fair amount. ther was some other very shady actions done appraising the land. like leaving .26 acre off the the amount.
the best part is this person they hired also did my appraisel for my loan. all the land was there on that one and it appraised for about 100,000.00 more. looks like im going to have to sue pemco. mean while i have to keep paying for a house that isnt there anymore.
i would not recomend pemco to my worst enemy they are the most dishonest ins company ever. they think because im in bad shape that will accept any offer.
Insurance Expert Talks
Pemco is nice until you need a claim paid!
I was recently rear-ended, and had no fault in the accident. I am affected by moderate to severe soft-tissue "whiplash" type injuries and have missed a few weeks of work due to the pain and restrictions from my doctor.
Pemco was awesome in paying for my car, we had a check for the car the next day, and the offer was very fair. They even gave us back the deductible after the other driver's company accepted liability. The real trouble is in using the benefits of your PIP policy. My policy with Pemco says it will pay for lost wages after the first 14 days at 85% of what you make up to $700 a week.
Good luck getting that money though!!! They gave me paperwork to have my boss fill out to document my lost wages and get them paid, but then they tell me after about a month of delay that their form is not clear enough, and they refuse to pay until I make up my own form and send it! The want a letter from my doctor to explain why I can't work, then it takes them 2 weeks to tell me that the doctor's letter is not detailed or specific enough(it was just fine), so they deny the claim until they can get another "better" letter from my doctor. They also cover stuff that you normally do yourself but can't because of injuries, like house cleaning and yard work.
Adjuster says he will cover up to $40 per day for cleaning services, then when we submit the claim for the cleaning, which is $115 each week, he denies it because he will only pay $40 per day, not $40 times 7 days a week for $280. He NEVER made that clear at all, and waited for three weeks to decide that he was not going to pay! So I could have someone come in each day at $40 a day and rack up $280 each week and that's ok, but $115 each week for one day of service is not ok!? WTF!
Anyhow, this guy is just using every delay tactic he can to let us rack up charges for help and lost wages and then decides to not pay. We have submitted every piece of paper they asked for in a timely fashion, and filled out completely and correctly, and we have only asked for things they say they will pay for, but they are trying to weasel out of all of it. The thing is that they paid for some of the lost wages at the beginning, but now suddenly the same procedure for claiming this stuff is not good enough?! Don't know what to do now.
They owe me a lot of money and I have no way to make sure they will pay. I thought that my own company would treat me better. You can be *** sure that when all this is said and done and I have no business with Pemco I will be finding insurance from another company. I will be contacting their CEO and the local managers, as well as the state insurance commissioner and attorney general to complain.
Probably will throw in the BBB to round it out, and I will use the Internet in any way I can to tell the story of their abuse of their own customer. I will make sure none of my friends, family, or coworkers have policies with them any more. They may not care, but I don't want anybody I care about to be jerked around by this company when they need them most...
Pemco sucks and they have lost a customer for sure. And I will never rest until I have every penny they owe me.
