Unauthorized charges on my debit card by Pelican Spa
I made a reservation at Pelican Spa in Truth or Consequences, NM just a few days before my trip. I gave them my debit card number to hold the room with the intention that I would pay cash when I arrived. The day before I was supposed to go I saw that the full price of the room was taken out of my account. I was consequently overdrawn. This error could have been easily avoided had I been clearly informed while making the reservation on the phone that my card would be charged at that time. I was so put off by this lack of service as well as the fact that I had a fee from my bank for the overdraft, that I had no desire to go to Truth or Consequences or the Pelican Spa and cancelled my trip even though they had already charged me for the stay. I later saw that in an email confirmation it did state that my card would be charged.... this email was not checked until it was too late, and my absolute bottom line is that I should have been informed at the time of making the reservation to avoid any problems! When I called to dispute this charge the girl was unaccommodating and unapologetic, saying that it was my error. The whole thing leaves me with a very bad taste in my mouth and I would never consider dealing with this establishment again.
