Breach of Rental Lease Contract
I am writing to express a number of complaints regarding our landlords and the property management company for the property located at 3510 Aston St, Annandale, VA, 22003.
While there are a number of issues, my focus is on the following specific issues. We have expressed these concerns to the property management company several times and have not been addressed yet.
Below is a summary of the issues.
Harassment - Repeatedly seeking to enter the home though we expressed our concern of contracting COVID-19. Moreover, I am a diabetic, my wife is pregnant, and we have a toddler.
Risking our health - We have submitted numerous requests to repair the laundry equipment (washer &; dryer). These were not rectified in a timely fashion. Moreover, in an attempt to fix the dryer, the repairman left this dryer in a hazardous state, the appliance was dismantled and left open, leaving a hazard for my toddler.
Lost peace of mind & Causing Mental Stress - On several occasions, they have violated our privacy and right to enjoy this home, by putting on lockboxes for unauthorized showing.
Power-washing the deck well before our move-out. Also, they have attempted to put a dumpster on the driveway.
Physical Stress - Due to the inability to use the laundry items, my wife has been doing laundry by hand and taking to a private laundromat. This is causing her physical stress and mental strain, resulting in her going to a chiropractor three days a week to address the pain.
Breach of Contract - Our lease stated that we would have a washer, dryer, and microwave in working condition. Washer - Originally had mold in Aug 2019, which we were told we could replace the washer ourselves.
This was finally rectified in May 2021, because the door broke and it was completely unusable. Dryer - Broke on July 2, 2021 and we are still waiting on the replacement Microwave - This was never provided during the entire 2 year lease.

- Health risks during pandemic
- Lack of timely resolution of critical appliances for hygiene
Preferred solution: 6 months of rent refunded or 6 months of rent free stay
