Misleading Extended Ford Warranty Sales Practices
- - Financial Manager pressured us to buy extended warranty.
- - They promised 8 years coverage, except glass.
- - Found a 100,000 mile limit; not told.
Was high pressured to buy extended warranty by Financial Manager. Because we used so many miles per year we were told this would cover us for 8 years for absolutely everything except glass.
Kept telling us 8 years over and over again. Having never bought an extended warranty we thought since we will be retiring and driving a lot the 8 years sounded good. We agreed and "Bill" had to reprint the contract 2 times because we noticed errors regarding things we had talked about. We had to go back and pick up a 3rd copy because we found another error.
That is when we noticed it had a limit of 100,000 miles. We asked what that was about because we were never told anything except 8 years coverage because"Bill" knew we used 30,000 per year but kept telling us we would be covered for 8 years and we would need it because of our high mileage use. Were told it is either 8 years or 100,000 miles. We explained we were not told the miles part or we would have never bought it as it would only last 3.5 years and asked to have "Bill" call us.
6 weeks of emails and phone calls and could not get in touch with Bill. Now Bill no longer works there, when I called to ask his replacement (Greg) why I was not given proper info he told me to be quiet and listen and said that is the contract and I should have known better before I bought it and he would not do anything to help me.
- Deceptive warranty sales
Preferred solution: I want the warranty mileage extended to cover the 8 years that Mr. Bill Anderson the financial manager promised us when explaining the contract.
