Shady practices I will never buy from them again

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

SHADY SCAM DEALERSHIP. I was pre-approved through GM Financial with an approval number and went into the dealership to do the paperwork on the new Silverado that I wanted. After the sales person Melissa Psencik set an appointment with me for 5:15 on 9/3/17, I bought my 2013 Silverado in to meet with her and she'd apparently decided to go home for the day.

Front desk gives me another sales person named Harvey Prejean and he and I go over the situation, do the test drive, I give him my keys for them to do the appraisal and he goes out to my truck and messes around with the remote start and does something under the steering wheel and now all of a sudden my truck won't start. This was a truck with low mileage, barely 60k on a 5 year old truck and it had never had an issue. But somehow as soon as I'm parked in the lot in front of their building it will no longer start and they have no idea what could be causing it. They say no worries they'll still do the appraisal on it anyway and it won't be an issue. So we go in and do the back and forth of me telling them the price I have quoted from the online transaction on their website plus my pre-approval information with GM Financial and somehow despite that information, they can't find the pre-approval and that the finance department can't get me financed through GM Financial, which means that they won't honor the "labor day" incentives I have quoted on my pre-approval which totaled up to $2,000 with GM Bonus Cash and GM Down Payment Assistance. Instead, they can finance me through Ally, who until 2010 was known as GMAC aka General Motors Acceptance Corporation who was their finance company, and now because of them going through Ally they can't offer me the incentives that I was already pre-qualified for.

Salesman tells me not to worry about it that they'll get it figured out. Faraun Pruitt (finance director) then tells me that he needs to put my wife on the contract and that she's having her be the primary person listed. Now she's not with me, because I wasn't planning on her ever being on the contract so he says no worries she can stop in at lunch tomorrow and sign and that will be it. He has me sit in front of this shiny touch screen table and starts quickly going through pages and has spots color coded to initial and sign. He doesn't say anything about me putting money down as I'm signing the contract and I didn't even think about it until I was almost all the way home with the truck that night.

The next day at lunch my wife comes in and they have her meet with a different finance guy named Spencer Doussan. She is asked to sit in front of another touch screen table and after he rushes her through the document he tells her that he needs her to sign twice on one page, because Faraun "forgot" to get me to sign one of the pages. He tells her that's all that he needs and she leaves as she's got to get back to work. Keep in mind that at this point we have recieved ZERO written or printed documentation on the sale of the vehicle or anything with our initials/signatures on it and nobody has asked for a down payment. We weren't too concerned with it as we were already coming back that evening to buy my wife a 2019 Redline Traverse to match my 2018 Redline Silverado.

We get in around 6 that night and while waiting to meet with a different sales guy, Shawn Babineaux, I ask for the contract on my truck and they finally bring me a sealed envelop while taking us to see the vehicle she was interested in buying. For the 2nd straight night I/we spend the next 3 hours with the financing run around back and forth.

... review too long so long story short 10 days later they call saying they forgot to get a down payment from me and won't pay off my trade-in until I pay them. The new truck has already been set up with Ally and 1st payment scheduled. They won't take new truck back, won't give me my old truck back, and won't pay off my old loan either. Now Faraun is threatening me with legal action. So I'm posting this everywhere I can and meeting with an attorney to discuss the situation.

Long, but worth the read! I am a fair person.

Only one other time have I ever given a bad review online, and that was 7 years ago, and warranted just as much as this bad review. I would never recommend Parkway Chevrolet to anyone after my recent interaction with them. I will try to keep this as short as possible, but want to ensure I am detailed as well so the entire picture is painted as best I can.

Back in mid-January, I purchased a used Yukon with fairly low miles, but had some issues with it that needed to be addressed and repaired before I was comfortable with the purchase. I had a list of 8 items to be fixed.

I knew some items probably wouldn’t, but I figured I would give it a shot. I was told not to worry, and everything would be taken care of. I scheduled a time to drop my car off on Jan 29th with a hand-written list as well as a text of the list of items. I was told to come up there on Jan 31st to get my Yukon.

When I arrived, only one item had been fixed on the list of 8 items. Again, two items were basically fingers crossed, if they didn’t fix them, I was ok with that. Those items were a crack on the plastic portion on the back-passenger seat as well as rust on the tracks underneath the driver and passenger side seats. I was told GMC warranties any rust, so there was hope for that one.

Turns out, that warranty is for exterior paint only, so they did not repair the rusted tracks. I was ok with that, and they didn’t repair the crack on the plastic either. I too was ok with that. The other 6 items, to include the rear passenger side taillight had still not been fixed, and that was the most important item to me, and I was assured THAT particular item would have been repaired or replaced.

Naturally when I showed up to see only one of the 8 items on the list had been repaired after being told not to worry, everything would be taken care of, I became a little upset. A couple of hours later, the maintenance manager I was working with did agree to fix most of the items, to include the taillight. I was told the taillight lamp had gone bad, and they would replace it with a new lamp at no cost to me. After only having the vehicle for less than 2 weeks at this time, I felt this was fair.

I came back the next day and the items I was told they would repair/replace had been completed this time. Fast forward 2.5 months, and the same rear passenger taillight had gone out again. Understanding this is a “wearable item,” I figured my extended warranty would not cover the replacement unless it was an electrical malfunction. I was told it was not electrical, but a faulty lamp; therefore, I was right, and my extended warranty denied the claim, according to my sales rep.

My initial thought was it had NOT been long enough for a wearable item to have gone out (LESS than 3 months). I was also only 2,000 miles outside of my initial manufactures bumper to bumper warranty, so I had a good feeling this would be a simple conversation. I expected the Parkway Chevrolet management team would agree with me and decide to replace it again since it was an obvious issue with a faulty lamp that they had put in during the original replacement. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

It appeared my sales rep was trying everything he could to assist me with the right customer service, but unfortunately this was not his call to approve. I received a call from maintenance telling me it would be $954 to replace the lamp they had put in my vehicle less than 3 months ago. The maintenance tech did tell me it was a faulty lamp. Again, I was certain the management team would understand that they put a faulty lamp in my vehicle that did not last and they would make things right for their customer and replace it for me.

Keep in mind, I am not one who ever looks for free handouts on anything. I have worked hard my whole life and have gotten to where I am today by being honest and fair throughout my military time and professional career. I decided it was time to get with the General Sales Manager (GSM), Mike Richey. After a couple of days, I was finally able to speak to Mike on the phone.

His attitude throughout the entire conversation was a “too bad” type of demeanor. He told me, and I am paraphrasing, “this is a pre-owned vehicle with a wearable item that has gone out. I can’t do anything for you.” At this point, I am still calm, and just figured he did not understand the entire situation. Therefore, I detailed out everything that had occurred prior to this 2nd taillight going bad and made it very clear that the “wearable item” didn’t last 3 months and only a couple of thousands of miles.

It’s not like I put 100,000 miles on it, or else I would completely understand and pay for the replacement, but that is not the case. In my mind, it was clear that they had replaced my previous lamp with a faulty lamp, and surely, Mike would understand where their customer was coming from and make the situation right by getting me a lamp that was not faulty. Mike’s attitude never changed. At this point, I am furious.

There is absolutely no way I should be responsible for nearly a $1,000 repair on a replacement where they clearly either replaced it with a malfunctioned product, or didn’t replace the lamp in the first place. It is not the money I am concerned with, even though a $954 taillight replacement is steep, it is the situation I am distraught over. Mike, the GSM, again, didn’t care, and never once apologized for the situation, and definitely never thought about Parkway Chevrolet replacing it again. Mike told me he did reach out to GMC to see if they would cover it.

GMC did not, so I am a little upset about that too, but then again, why would GMC cover a replacement light when Parkway Chevrolet put the faulty lamp in to begin with? So now I am making it a point to ensure I reach out to as many people as possible. Hopefully they read this detailed review and decide not to get screwed over by this same company/management team that I did. I will get my taillight replaced, if needed, but it will be done somewhere else.

I will never give any money to Parkway Chevrolet again, even if I have to pay more by going to a third party.

Note to Parkway Chevrolet and Mike Richey… If my review deters just one buyer from you, then what was probably only $400, or less, for the dealership, will now have cost you several thousands of dollars from that individual choosing not to purchase from classless people.

In my eyes, that is not good business. You should have taken care of your customer, especially since this is so black and white.

My 13 year old Chevy Malibu started having problems as I was driving past Parkway Chevrolet. I got the diagnostic test done and they determined it was the alternator.

The estimate was WAY over priced, had it towed elsewhere. I couldn’t get the service guy to call me back for two days so I could pay for it over the phone. Went in to pay and told the assistant manager about it, he was uninterested and had no comment.

Not a customer, never will be, and will not recommend to anyone I know. #howdo theystayinbusiness

Parkway Chevrolet - Car Warranty Review from Tomball, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased a MAP Premium bumper to bumper Warrantee from the Finance Manager at Parkway Chevrolet so I could have some peace of mind in case my $27,000 dollar truck had any problems, well it died on me when I'm driving and jerks the steering wheel out of my hand and last week it locked my wife and I inside right in front of Houston traffic and I was told by Josh that the Warrantee does not cover replacing the faulty negative battery cable $1750.00 worthless piece of paper.. I'd be ashamed of myself if I had any affiliation.. It makes me wonder if the Owners are aware of these practices?

This place is a rip off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

As an elderly handicap woman, I went in to trade down from a very clean low miles Chevrolet Silverado. The sales manager took my keys for an appraisal then would NOT give my keys back. They hounded me and tried to sell me a couple of *** vehicles with mechanical problems-one had no rear view mirror and rattled a lot. Finally took the Honda CRV after four hours of this and it needs $1200 work to make it safe and driveable which they over valued by more than $2000 dollars if it were in good condition.

The salesman kept saying he was going to take care of me like he does his own mother...he must abuse and disrespect his mother..........WHAT A RIP OFF DEALERSHIP

I CAN NOT stand thier service department, mor3 specific- Rick, Joe and Wade

Avoid taking your car there for repairs, they blow you off. And, if the work is done, it is half-a$$ed... The neglect to call you to let you know the status of your car, as well as, if they can't find the problem you brought it in for, they dont tell you that until you go to pick your car up. Can't say much for their cashiers that work in the service department either, they are just as rude.

I think the only good thing about parkway they offer would be, they offer 14.95 oil changes, if you bought your car from there. Oh, wait, you have to remind them of that too...

Misrepresentation, of the gas mileage they brag about, is not true. my car does not get anywhere near the mileage they sold me on and thier excuse"its just that way, I dont know what you want me to do."

Will not assist customers as promised during the sale

I purchased a truck from here and I dearly regret it. This people will find every excuse in the book to not help you.

First I took the vehicle back because one of the tires had developed a bump on the driver side. I was told to contact the tire manufacture. They didn't even offer to take a look at the tire. Recently, I learned that they also lied about giving me an additional 3 months of onstar service.

I have the msrp window tag that clearly displays the additional 3 months.

Yet they have refused to assist me in this matter as well. my advice is stay away from this place because they will tell you anything to make the sale and ignore you after that.

Parkway Chevroet- Buyer Beware!!

Recently went to Parkway Chevrolet to get new brakes. They were advertising a $99.99 per axle special.

Picked up the car and it was over 600.00. I inquired and was told I needed my rotors machined and the special did not include machining rotors. Most reading this will know, you can buy NEW rotors cheaper then that. For those of you not familiar with auto repair, the going rate at a reputalbe shop is about $40.00 per axle for that service.

I was charged $100 per wheel. Of course if was looking for the cheapest Brake Job, I would not have gone to a Dealer, but $600.00+ for brakes with no extras- just a basic Brake Job.

Save your money and go elsewhere.

Had me sell my vehicle then provided no financing.

I was driving a full sized GMC 4x4 Z71 pickup, probably the most loved vehicle that I have ever owned, and one that I thought I would never have to sell, but I knew that I had to do something about the amount of fuel I was using.

I wasn’t sure if my credit was in good enough shape to purchase a new Chevrolet vehicle, and thought it a good idea to test the water despite the IRS having a lien on my credit, and despite the fact that I was working on the lien and knew that it would be released soon. I was worried about the fact that I was spending way too much on fuel.

I had been spying the Chevrolet HHR, a very similar vehicle to the PT Cruiser, and felt sure that it was a good buy for me since it was so reasonably priced and would get 30 miles per gallon. Additionally, the Chevrolet HHR was roomy enough to accommodate my DJ equipment for my 2nd job.

And since I was spending $600 per month on fuel, I realized that I could afford a small car payment and the fuel for a car like the Chevrolet HHR. But what I would also gain from this purchase is a reliable vehicle with a warranty, and a vehicle that I wouldn't have to worry about reselling in an increasingly fuel conscious economy.

I went on over to Parkway Chevrolet in Tomball, Texas to take a look at the HHR and see if the financing would be a problem. I met with the Internet sales person since I had been looking into the Chevrolet HHR on the Parkway Chevrolet web site and had already taken part in correspondence via the Internet.

I explained to him that I wasn’t sure if he could get me financed, but felt it a good idea to look into getting a new Chevrolet it at this point. He ran my credit and came back to tell me that it would not be a problem.

Next, I let them take a look at my GMC truck as a possible trade in, but of course they came back with an offer that was ridiculous, so I turned them down on trading in my truck. He then told me that I only needed $2,000 down to buy this new vehicle from Parkway Chevrolet, and said that I could easily come up with that if I were to sell my GMC truck.

So, I left the Parkway Chevrolet dealership that day, and spent the entire next day cleaning and detailing my truck to see if I could get it sold. And since it was in such good shape and ran so well, I was hopeful that it would sell… and it did the next day, to the first guy that came along to look at it.

The next day I headed to Parkway Chevrolet to get the new HHR that I had discussed with them in my previous visit. And now I really felt optimistic, because I would now be able to put down twice the money as originally discussed.

Needless to say, I hung out in the Parkway Chevrolet dealership all day long, only to be told at the end of the day that they could not get me financed. I could not believe what I was hearing! I just sold my vehicle and now was being told by Parkway Chevrolet that I could not get financed!

Needless to say, at this point I was pretty upset and not sure what to do about the situation that I was put in by Parkway Chevrolet. I called the dealership back and spoke with the woman that is currently the General Manager and explained that I was lied to by her salesman. Her answer was for me to come back to Parkway Chevrolet and let them try to put me in a 3 or 4 year old vehicle… something that would put me back in the situation I was trying to escape.

I decided to try another dealership, and drove out to Ron Carter Chevrolet after speaking with an older sales person that seemed to be on the ball when it comes to getting me financed. But little did I realized that this was going to be every bit as traumatizing as my visit to Parkway Chevrolet.

My sales person at Ron Carter Chevrolet strung me along for 4 days. That’s 4 days of driving 125 miles round trip! During this time, I only saw my sales person a few times for only a few minutes total, as he was working other deals and fitting mine in when he could. Needless to say, I didn’t feel like a customer at Ron Carter Chevrolet because I certainly wasn’t being treated like one.

Despite the fact that I knew something about car sales and told him that (having been a car salesman at one time), this guy decided that I wouldn’t know the difference if he and his peers at Ron Carter Chevrolet lied to me too. He called me on day 4 and told me that he was going to get me into a Chevy HHR, and to come on down to the dealership.

I took my final drive to Ron Carter Chevrolet only to find out that he was planning to put me in a Chevrolet HHR that was pre-owned. But the real kicker was that he told me that the bank told them to put me in this vehicle, and no other. He actually told me that the bank was telling me what I could drive.

He then told me that I would be paying Ron Carter Chevrolet right at $16,000 plus tax, title & license for this 2 year old HHR (2006) that had 32,000 miles on it.

My first question was how could Ron Carter Chevrolet put me in an HHR that was only a few thousand miles away from having no warranty (since the 2006 model only came with a 36,000 / 36 month warranty) and asking me to pay a price that was almost that of a new Chevrolet HHR.

Again, he told me that the bank was telling them what I was going to be driving and what I was going to be paying. But worse, I had seen this vehicle online on their web site for almost $2,000 less. Additionally, further inspection revealed that the vehicle’s tires were worn out.

I then asked what kind of finance company would set me up with a Chevrolet vehicle that was about to be out of warranty, and send me down the road on a bad set of tires? It was obvious to me that this was a Ron Carter Chevrolet that they badly needed to get rid of before 36 months came around, or they had just had it on the lot too long.

And needless to say, Ron Carter Chevrolet said that even if I bought this vehicle they would not put good tires on it, or give me a warranty.

Ok, now I had been to 2 different Chevrolet dealerships, Ron Carter and Parkway, and they had lied to me, and had no vehicle to drive other than a rent car that I had been in for too long already. Needless to say, I was put out by these antics at Ron Carter Chevrolet and Parkway Chevrolet since I was a long time GM customer that has been driving GM vehicles for 30 years.

I decided to go to one more Chevrolet dealership and give them a chance to get me in the right vehicle. I went to Lone Star Chevrolet the next day, and they were actually honest with me and tried once again to get me financed. Eventually, I found out that it just wasn’t going to happen.

So, here I sit with no vehicle, trying to decide what to do about the situation that Parkway Chevrolet and Ron Carter Chevrolet had put me in. I have been out looking at used vehicles that I can afford for the cash I have out of my truck, but everything is junk at that price, and a risk to buy.

What is the moral of this story? There is still plenty of dishonesty in car sales, and even though I felt some loyalty to Chevrolet and GM, they certainly felt no loyalty to me, a long time Chevrolet / GM customer that will certainly reconsider future Chevrolet purchases.

the dealership was in what way responsible for your poor credit?

being in the business, some finance managers are better than others, i know with 4000 down i could have you financed in minutes ona vehicle that fits your budget according to back ....

my advise, go to a large volume honda dealer and get approved thru honda finance and get a cert pre owned honda, .... better and more reliable than your previous considerations ...

hope helps ...
