Urgent Care Visit

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Urgent care wait time was 45 minutes around 6 pm; I arrived at 6:30.
  • The Plymouth clinic refused check-in due to capacity and escorted us to the door.

Today, I had a medical issue that I didnt believe could wait. I monitored the website, which says that the wait time is regularly updated.

Shortly after 6 pm, the wait time for urgent care was 45 minutes. I headed over and arrived at 6:30 believing I would be seen by 7:15. The Plymouth clinic did not close until 8:00. Before we even got to the check in, the woman behind the desk declined to check us in, saying we needed to leave because they are filled to capacity.

As a longtime patient of yours, being 65 and diabetic this visit is concerning. I was denied medical attention without even asking what my concern was.

This woman escorted us to the door and locked it behind us. It was also disappointing to monitor the website and the estimated wait time, which now appears to be inaccurate or misleading information.

Pros:
  • Quality of care providers
Cons:
  • New appt wait time 3-4 months
  • Trying to communicate with the organization
  • Customer service

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution

User's recommendation: I would not recommend Park Nicollet Plymouth for any medical service. No empathy or compassion.

Very long wait for a phone call to be answered.

AI Highlights
  • Virtual visit times were far out and calls were busy; 45 minutes to reach a nurse.
  • Care at Methodist Hospital was excellent; staff were helpful.

On 10/3/21 I just wanted to speak to someone about my blood pressure.I tried a virtual visit and the appointment times were to far out. I called the appointment line.

3 times it said there.were to many calls and to try later. I finally get on the line and the call would be answered in the order it was received.I suppose I could have left a number and they would have called back. I didnt feel well and thought I would stay on the line. 45 minutes later my call was answered and I was transferred to the nurse.

That is all I wanted. 45 minutes is to long to wait when you dont feel well. The nurse was very helpful. I was told to get in my car and go to the ER.

The care I received at Methodist Hospital was excellent. The nurse, doctor, lab, ekg tech were. great. I received IV meds.

I am a nurse and I hope I would never treat my patients this way. There has to be a more efficient way to get calls answered or a easier way to speak to the nurse. This computer stuff does not make it easier.

This must overwhelm the elderly people that are not computer literate. Thank you for listening.

User's recommendation: Hire more people to answer phones. Easier way to contact the nurse or doctor. Maybe.a text or email or a direct line then to the department you want to speak to.

  • Billing: mis-coded physical; $300 charge; recheck billed as full.
  • Medica says recheck should be recoded to about $60; plan to file complaints.

We have battled Park Nicollet to no avail. We scheduled a physical for my wife (100% covered by my Medica plan), they coded it something else so now we are stuck with $300 Physical.

To add to that, they messed up a blood pressure test, how can you do that so she had to come back in for aas Medica termed it a "recheck", but charged us like the full physical above. She was there 3 minutes. Medica said this should have been recoded and about $60 charge. We got charged another $300.

This is highway robbery and I will be filing a complaint with MN Health and also may contact Channel 5 to followup on a few billing issues with Park Nicollet beyond ours as noted online reviews!

We are done with Park Nicollet and would advise clients to review all billing . Rick

Why would anyone use this company they are crooks, you go for a preventative physical and they charge you for all tests the doctor requests.. such a scam they should be indicted!!

AI Highlights
  • Preventive physical should include cholesterol; tests billed separately.
  • Reviewer calls Park Nicollet a scam.

You would assume a routine preventative physical would include checking your cholesterol when the doctor asks for it? Oh but wait the doctor will ask you to get blood tests only to find they want to charge you out side of your insurance covered routine physical for these.

Great scam Park Nicollet.

Your company should be indicted your crooks!!

They are the payday lenders of HealthCare

AI Highlights
  • Two charges were billed for one visit with unclear disclosure.
  • The $89 lab charge not paid; it went to collections; payments must be on the statement.

I have had so many issues that we left them entirely years ago. The item that caused us to leave them was when Obamacare first came out I had a physical there. At the end of the visit they the doctor asked me if there was anything else and I asked if I could get a refill on my migraine medication. He spent less than 30 seconds typing in an electronic order to the pharmacy below. When the bill came it included 2 appointments. One for the physical and another full visit since he gave me migraine medication. I called in and found out this was somehow legal despite this never being disclosed during the visit.

Several years later after we left them my wife gets hospitalized. This is outside of Park Nicolet, but let me share the full story to give you their piece in it.

As bills came in we started paying them. Then we discovered that they were not getting processed through insurance correctly as our total bills owed exceeded our deductible by many thousands of dollars. Once we got it processed through insurance correctly we found out we had paid the same parties as the insurance and are still working with many of them to get money back.

Park Nicolet had a piece in this for an $89 lab work. This ended up not getting paid by insurance so I went online to pay it. After several unsuccessful attempts over many days, I started calling them. The calls would either not go through or I get ahold of someone and they end up dropping my calls. I would even give the attendant my number in case we got disconnected, but they would never call me back. Today I got a letter saying they are sending it to collections with a different number so I call that number. During the conversation, she tells me that this specific segment of the business that the lab work went through only accept checks, money orders, or credit cards written down on the statement and sent back to them. This seems absolutely crazy to me, but if true why wasn't I told before today.

Worst customer service and dishonest billing practices

  • Billed $300 for an unsolicited diabetes visit.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BILLING PRACTICES EVER!

On May 18 I received a message via "my chart" reminding me I had to schedule my diabetes visit. I was surprised because just 4 months ago I had a physical and all was fine.

In past years there was a diabetes management program at PN (Plymouth, MN) I was part of and I remember there used to be appointments every 6 months, at no charge.

So I though this was the same program again. I scheduled, went in and even my PCP was surprised to see me again so soon.

To my surprise I just got a bill for $300 - for an unsolicited and unnecessary visit.

I called your customer service and a representative named Trish was rude and condescending the whole time, acting like I was trying to get away with the cost of the appointment.

This is not the first time I am billed for services or appointments I didn't ask for but ended up scheduling after being misled.

They have the worst customer service and the way they do their coding and billing is truly against the patient.

I would recommend everyone to look for a different clinic that is actually serious about their business practices.

Next time check the nameless faceless recommendations of the computer and contact your provider directly. You must also understand the workings of your insurance policy. But also be aware that diabetes specialists often start ramping up the frequency of patient visits because they are ....

profitable ....

my endocrinologist office is a real pain acting under the guise of patient benefit. Hypocritical at best, usurious greed at worst.

Horrible

AI Highlights
  • Dr. Guyer refused the test after about 5 minutes, saying I didn’t meet her qualifications.
  • She asked if I had tried Pepto-Bismol for my stomach pains.

I was referred by my primary physician to see a food allergy specialist due to years of stomach issues I've encountered. When I arrived I was seen by Dr.

Brenda Guyer. After ~5min of talking she said she wasn't going to do the test on me because I didn't meet her qualifications for the exam and asked if I had tried Pepto-bismol for my stomach pains. I am a 40 year old woman, with children, with several degrees under my belt as well. I wonder if she honestly thought I hadn't tried over the counter medications.

Honestly, is this the type wisdom and recommendations I should expect from Park Nicollet specialists? Unbelievable and truly insulting.

Blocked by gatekeepers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • The reviewer seeks accountability for organizational communication.
  • Gatekeepers and protocols hinder patient contact, despite strong care.

This is third time (in more than 25 years) I have wanted to speak with someone whose responsibility is for communication. Once I ran into a dead end when my concern was about a clinic manager, who also happened to be the only one patient relations could forward my concern to.

I called patient relations back and asked if there were someone else I could speak to, and there wasn't. Here I am again in that same loop, but with a different department. All I want to do is find out where in the organization the buck stops for communication. With all their big corporation protocols and systems between provider and patient, their focus has shifted from patient to productivity consultants and lawyers.

With so many holes in the communication process and gatekeepers at every turn, those responsible and empowered to make change are thoroughly insulated from patient contact. In other words, not accountable.

It's worse than dealing with the military. For the most part, the care providers are top notch; it's their system that ruins the relationship.

Pros:
  • Quality of care providers
Cons:
  • Trying to communicate with the organization

Preferred solution: A sit-down meeting with the person responsible for PN communications.

Billed for Office visit in error

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Question during an annual OB-GYN visit was billed as an office visit.
  • Bottom line: avoid asking questions during a physical to prevent charges.

I saw a doctor for my annual OB-GYN visit and during the visit I asked a question relative to a gynecological issue I have experienced over the last decade. I have asked multiple docs at Park Nicollet the same question over the years and no one has been able to give me a plausible answer as to the cause or treatment for the condition until the doc I saw during my last visit.

Because I asked a question and the doc actually had an answer it was billed out as an office visit (not covered by my insurance) rather than an annual exam (which is covered). I have asked that the coding be reviewed and gave the other docs to whom the question had been raised as well.

Billing still contends it does not fall under an annual exam. Bottom line is if you go for a physical or annual exam DO NOT ASK ANY QUESTIONS or you will be paying for an office visit.

Cons:
  • Inaccurate billing practices

Well, it's common knowledge that your annual exam covers preventive care only. Asking additional question (s) is no longer part of this exam

Issues with billing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • Park Nicollet Clinic billing sent past-due notices.
  • They claimed letters were sent; I paid.
  • A backdated letter followed my complaint; BBB filed.

Please check the 30+ reviews on Yelp filed under the "Not Recommended Reviews" section. Very bad experiences with Park Nicollet Clinic -- specifically with their billing department.

Several times in 2016 I have received collection notices in the mail for "past due" bills. When I ask PNC about the bills, the department says "that the sent out letters and received no response." When I asked why they didn't call, send an email or put a notice on MyChart, the phone went quiet. So I paid the bill in it's entirety. Four months later, another collection letter.

Again, I called Park Nicollet. Again, they said they sent out letters no response. We verified my email address and I paid the bills. Two months ago, I receive ANOTHER collection agency letter.

After filing an official complaint with their management, they send me a BACK DATED LETTER saying that I had a past due bill. Not a copy or facsimile -- a back dated letter with a date stamp of today's date on this.

Wow, that is borderline fraud. I filed a complaint with the BBB.

AI Highlights
  • At 30 weeks I refused 3 tests after researching.
  • Staff treatment grew disrespectful and discriminatory.
  • Only the midwife treated me with respect.

I am an obstetrics patient in the Shakopee office. I am willing to accept care suggestions if I agree they are 1.

Medically necessary and 2. Will do no harm. At now 30 weeks pregnant I have refused 3 teststreatments after obtaining loads of information, both from the clinic and my own personal research and living with my own body for 35 years. With each refusal, their treatment of me became more and more disrepectful, demeaning, and outright discriminitory as far as I'm concerned.

I have seen 3 physicians, tons of nurses, and one midwife in that office. Only the midwife treated me as a human being with rights. And one physician outright lied to me. They far from put patients first; they are clearly much more focused on satisfying their company big-wigs and the insurance companies.

Which reminds me, the billing has never once been correct. I show my insurance cards at every visit, per their request, and each time I am met with "oh, we don't have that one on file".

It's been *** at this clinic during a time of life most women get to enjoy. I feel the've robbed me of something I can never get back.

  • I am facing legal issues due to this medicine.

I was put on a psychotropic drug for hot flashes following a radical hysterectomy. My oncology obgyn never warned me of the horrific adverse effects of effexor.

Mania, panic attacks, risky behaviors, disturbed thought process. Now I am facing legal issues due to this medicine. Prior to my surgery and being put on this med this behavior is out of character for me. Two days prior to being picked up by police for DUI I had addressed my concerns to my surgeon who prescribed me this drug as well as her nurse only to be asked by my surgeon, 'why are you taking that again?' -she was the prescriber.

Then I was told I needed to exercise more and I was dismissed. I also explained to her nurse and my symptoms were ignored again.

Really?!?! The hospital has so much construction that it took me longer than that to find my way around and park. No other provider was able too see me either so my condition went untreated.

True reason she canceled...she had an appointment before me that went longer. One of the other nurses told me.
