Paragon Sports Scam - Fraudulent Return Policy

Paragon professes to be a discount retailer for sports gear and equipment. I recently bought a pair of running shoes from there since they happened to be in the neighborhood where I was shopping. Big mistake (I should have stuck to the running shoe store that I bought my last pair from, where I can return the shoes any time, if there is any issue). The paragon salesman told me that I could return the shoes within 30 days, if there was any issue whatsoever. I was a bit surprised that he wasn't very knowledgeable and didn't seem to put any effort in figuring out the right shoes to suit my running style or gait etc (in fact, I was also a bit surprised that they didn't seem to have much choice). He said "take this pair since it's a good brand and if you don't like it, just bring it back and we'll give you another one." I tried running in them for a couple of weeks and my lower legs (shin area) started hurting during the run. It got worse every day. I tried running in my tennis shoes, to see the difference, and that worked fine. So I decided to take the pair back to Paragon. I was taken to a "manager" - a young guy who looked at me suspiciously and started making noises about the fact that I had used them and they couldn't be returned. I pointed out what the salesman had told me and that was also the standard return policy in most running shoe stores. Him and his supervisor (who joined him) stuck to their point, ignoring me completely. They pointed out that it would be bad for their business if everyone came and returned their purchases. They said they could return the shoe to the manufacturer and see what the manufacturer would be willing to do. That seemed the only option. After I reluctantly agreed, they asked me to wait in a long line and fill out a few forms (even though they could have helped me right there, since they knew I was upset). I didn't have the patience to wait for half an hour in line, just to send the shoes to the manufacturer. I need the shoes now and I have to go buy a new pair anyway. So I gave the shoes to them and left the store. Needless to say, I will not go back there again. My advice to you - avoid this store. You may save a few bucks if you buy shoes from them (maybe these are old rejected models that they're buying from manufacturers) but they're not good quality shoes. And if you need any service from them, forget about it.
