No surprise Palm Harbor Homes went belly up.

While I do not wish for anyone to lose their job, Palm Harbor Homes deserves to be out of business. The showroom in Greensboro NC played the old bait and switch. We were in for a good deal of money so we dealt with it. While we love where we are, I regret ever having walked onto a Palm Harbor lot. The sales manager (who quit before we closed) lied to us. The construction end of the job was shoddy and follow-up customer service was intermittent at best. If anyone needs an example of how not to run a business, Palm Harbor was it.

Leaking roof

We bought our palm harbor home in 1998, when we bought it, it sat on thier site for weeks, because of bad weather, alot of rain. They did not make sure the house was getting soaked, because when we went to see it again before they bought it to our property, the ceilings in several rooms were black, from all the rain that leak through, they claim they fixed it, by replacing the ceiling inside, what we could see, but it has caused mold from all the water damage, and now I am having health problems. I feel something should be done.

what Confused doesn't seem to understand is that a wet mobile home is the best way to win a lawsuit...or maybe he does. You should get the state involved with ANY mold claim right away.

Bleaching and painting does not make mold go away, but it does keep a customer off their backs until the CSI call six months after move in.

Confused probably sells them and lives in an apartment because PH pays for *** and he can't afford one of their homes. That, or he's an overpaid VP that spends a lot of time in arbitration, while his regions bleed money due to wet houses and 21 year old GMs.

Guest

So you bought a home in 1998 and and are just now having problems? Sounds like they did fix the problem.

I think what you may have been looking for when you bought your home was an APARTMENT. Those have maintenance forever, homes have to be taken care of!

Palm Harbor

I agree do not buy from Palm Harbor... They don't listen to a word you say and they don't have good work habits. There work is shabby. If you want a good home buy from some one else NOT PALM HARBOR. A walk through is a joke, walls not finished cabinets stink, the roof lost shingles, screens torn, tile on floor not put together but they say it's ok..The finishings of the house is not satisfactory to me but they don't care. Some of the technicians don't even know how to fix a thing. All they think of is to get a CO so they can get their money. Not happy with them and never will be plus I would never recomend them to any one ever!!!!!

RUN AWAY...FAST!! I had the same experience with "customer service".

They refuse to do most of the things in the contract. From our horrid experience they hire the cheapest of the cheap, just like their "homes". Their set up crew ruined our floors when "they did their job".

So many bad experiences. My advice to all, please avoid at all costs.

Guest

Had construction problems,too...but the sad part was the total lack of caring or concern once PH got its money. My advice is avoid this company!! Had to bring in my own plumber and WOW...really found out how poor the materials and workmanship is...

House falling apart

Since my wife and I bought our palm harbor home, the carpet has rolled in big areas, the cabinets fell of the wall and could have killed my wife; the roof has been repaired twice; the fan on the HVAC has been replaced; the tile had to be replaced and reinstalled 3 times;the fire place leaks after repaired the first time; the Dallas office has not followed through with repairs as well; I have walls that are not square which was put together in a few weeks in Dallas; and these are just a fell of the minor problems. We bought our trap in San Antonio on Austin Highway 5 years ago. If there is an attorney looking at this you may contact me & robert.l.settle@***.army.mil. Palm Harbor Arbitration agreement ???????? they have not honored the conditions in the contract.

We bought our palm harbor home in 2005 in north carolina. the water heater leaked the first year here, and the tiles are cracking.

the carpeting is the cheapest they could install. the framing around the windows, doors, walls, is made out of plastic. the kitchen cabinets are somewhat crooked.

you can't get any help from those bastards. if i could, i would burn this place down to the ground.

Guest

They don't build Palm Harbor homes in Dallas

red flag!!

Guest

you say banks won't finance a "trailer" and that throws a red flag. Take a look at just how many site built homes are in foreclosure and tell me why no one EVER threw up a red flag?

It's been SO easy for consumers to get into homes that they can NOT afford for years with NO money down. But hey, I guess living in a site-built home for a few years and then losing it is better than having a HOME that you can afford, right? Manufactured Housing is AFFORDABLE...and guess what?

Banks actually extend credit to those who can prove income and are credit worthy. When the Fed finally raises the rates and your KBs (Krappy Built) are at 8 and 9%, The Wall Street Journal will once again praise the Manufactured Home.

Guest

What do you expect you bought a cheap trailer and that's what you got. I would never buy any home but stick built.

When banks won't finance a trailer that trows a red flag but it's Texas we are talking about here. I say mess with Texas!

I feel Palm Harbor Homes, Fl lied, cheated, and stole

Palm Harbor Homes in Brooksville, FL, took our money and played bait and switch. We bought one of their 2-story homes and it was to be placed on top of what was to be a custom designed ground floor garage. Before the garage was completed, the Brooksville office where we bought the home was closed. The nice salesman we were working with was no where to be found. We were later told the company was closing their satellite offices in FL due to financial problems. From that point on, Palm Harbor Homes treated us like dirt by the people we now had to deal with in the Plant City office. No one cared about us at all. They refused to come to the jobsite to see our lot or the home they were now making all of the decisions on. We quickly discovered that everything had changed, and that the people in the Plant City office did not intend to give us what we had paid for. I asked them for the phone number of their headquarters in Texas, and they told me that TX wouldn't talk to me and would just refer me back to them. I feel that the people we encountered in the Plant City office are mean, liars and cheats, and they seem to really enjoy being dishonest and hurtful to the good people who trusted Palm Harbor Homes and who paid good money for their homes. These are horrible people; learn from our mistakes and never buy a home from Palm Harbor Homes! Our custom home went from really nice to really cheap once the Plant City office took over. We are in the middle of fighting tooth and nail for everything we originally paid for when we designed our custom first floor garage...things we were told we were getting before we wrote the check. Our building lot is right on the water; we designed and expected the home we were putting on it to be something we could be proud of. The contractors on the job tell us that Palm Harbor is spending as little money as possible on our home, and that we are not getting a quality job. We are completely disgusted. One example: The Palm Harbor Plant City office has cheap $8.00 exterior lights set to go on our waterfront home. We requested and paid for nautical looking motion sensor lights that were originally suggested to us by the salesman who sold us the home. He told us that was what we were getting before we wrote the check. The list goes on and on...every day is more stressful as Palm Harbor Homes continually tries to cheat us. Another example: After a rain storm the middle level was heavily flooded in the center of the house. Palm Harbor Homes said that it couldn't have been the roof, and still hasn't sent anyone out to fix the leak. We had planned to put down wood floors...now we are thinking that ceramic tile is our only choice because we know we have a house that is wet after a rain and we have no idea how long or how many floods it will take to get Palm Harbor Homes to fix it... There are a couple of people with the company who are trying to help us get what we paid for, but they are also fighting an uphill battle. They are disgusted with the people in Plant City as well, but everyone if afraid to rock the boat too much for fear of being fired. Please beware of this company and steer clear. Our home is way behind schedule. We've had to cancel our summer vacation. We would never purchase a home from Palm Harbor Homes, and would never recommend them to anyone.

UPDATE FROM THE BUYER:

It's been three months since my original post, and our Palm Harbor house still isn't completed.

It's a beautiful, sunny day today, and no one bothered to show up to work. In fact, no one shows up to work about 25 percent of the time, and the house sits quiet and unfinished. The projected completion date was the end of April. Another 25 percent of the time, one or two people show up to repair poor quality or incorrect work done by previous trades. Since the beginning June they keep telling us "two more weeks".

We gave the builder a two page list of things that still need to be completed on the house. There seems to be no sense of urgency for our home. There are so many construction workers out of work now, why isn't anyone working at our house? It's unbelievable. It's frustrating. Our neighbors, the city building department and the trades have labeled this job the worst build in our city.

:? :cry

Guest

Extreme Joke? it cost about $250k of company money to "donate" that house for a truly deserving family.

Factory workers even donated free labor the "day" they built the home. Poor saps...probably gonna get laid off soon. Although the actual product built is Nationwide Homes..

NOT the piece of shyte Palm like the one I live in. The Williams home is nice, but when Palm is gone, and no longer bullying the customers into a $500 deposit, their homes will still be out in the field, foreclosed, moldy, and WAY under value.

Guest

Get a lawyer Immediately. These people have no intentions of giving you what you paid for.

This is what they do, promise the world and deliver cheap substandard work. Your house will never be what you dreamed it to be. This will only become your worse nightmare. I know, I lived through my own nightmare with these people.

My roof leaked on and off for six years, and had mold in my home because they sent incompitant repairmen to fix their screwup. They will just put the blame on you, and say you didn't do your home maintenance, even though it leaked from day one.

Hopefully you have everything in writing. Go straight to a lawyer do not take possesion of this house!!!!!

:p

Guest

Hopefully you got everything in writing. If not, you've got a long road ahead. That "nice salesman" may have been saying yes just to get you to sign on the dotted line knowing that promises not in writing are rarely delivered upon. Items like nautical lights are not stocked at the factory so they would not be installed there AND the set up and FTO crew would not have access to them. Staret by going to Mike Draper at the Plant City factory. Give him a list of the items you feel you were promised but did not receive. Let him know you have Larry Keeners contact information and will involve him if necessary. Let him know he is to deal with you directly - not your service department rep. Also, keep in mind that management is paid bonuses based on CSI. Let him know that a favorable resolution will result in a favorable CSI response. DO NOT accept a call from the CSI people until the problems are resolved. Once you give them a response that indicates you are a happy customer, they will forget about helping you. Let him know you are aware how the CSI system works and that if the issues you have are not resolved, you will not respond in a positive manner.

Finally, if you call Larry, I doubt he will actually help you. He does not resolve customer issues. He actually fines the people that should have resolved the issue and prevented the call to him in the first place.

Remember, don't expect that every promise made will be kept unless you got it in writting.

If you are persistant enough, you'll get what you want....he hates talking to customers.

Shoddy Workmanship

My Palm Harbor Home was purchased in SE Portland, OR back in 2001. Most of the cupboards in the kitchen have some problem - the shelves have fall because the cheap nails holding them in place came out. The nails are so small that no weight could be placed on the shelves. Further, there is a lower corner shelf, cut on an angle and the back wall of the curpboard has fallen away into the back abscess - the only way to get it back into position will be with suction cups, which I have no idea how to find. Plus, it will be an additional cost to me for a tool I'd never use again. The company has gone out of business in the Portland area. Also, I have nonworking electrical outlets in the living room and bedroom. Mold in the closet ceiling. The kitchen floor rides high in the middle, too. Called main company in the Corvallis area and they refused to fix the problems. Don't do business with these people!

Get what you pay for

PH homes are inexpensive. My 2001 model came with low grade options which I changed later.

Sinks, tiolets, windows, water heater, doors, flooring, lighting, etc all upgraded later and makes it a nice home now. However, They did a big mistake of using copper connected to steel in the water heater causing instant corrosion then leaking thoughout the home, warping floors. Window caulking was only put in the corners and wind comes through...windows very hard to open and close...thus all new windows installed recently. All faucets replaced as the cheap parts corrode and seals go out...leaks everywhere.

Also had leaks in roof...had to seal up several. Even the fireplace leaked water. Floors bounce like a child's jumper gym, even on perm foundation. Had to place concrete board down before adding tile flooring.

Replaced exterior doors as they are cheaper than an RV..you could see gaps of light all the way around and punch through it with a screwdriver. Cabinetry falls apart constantly. Basically, buy one stripped down to nothing then add quality products. The base construction is good but the interior fixtures etc are plastic and junk.

Hopefully they have come a long way since I bought mine. But...why are we complaining...you get what you pay for.

These homes are affordable for those on a budget. If you want quality...pay for it.

Would NEVER buy another. If you are not over 65-70 yrs old, your house may not last your lifetime.

Within a few years;

- Cabinets fall apart

- Sinks, Faucets and toilets will need replaced. - "Moen" Faucets are plastic.

- Poor roofing, siding will cause rotting. Siding will need to be replaced.

- Counter tops are not standard even in high end, large homes. Therefore, the kitchen sink is not standard size.

- Exterior doors do not have 2 x 4 studs to support door. Most of the screws they use are very tiny.

- Walls are not straight and replacing CARD BOARD baseboards may mean using RUBBER materials that can bend with the wall. And the base boards WILL need replacing because the will crumble.

- Shingles do not overhang adequately and fascia boards will begin to rot.

- Don't even THINK about not installing gutters.

- We found a whole cut in a ROOF truss for the stove vent. Then finding it was in the wrong spot, they cut another whole and covered the first with a metal sheet of scrap.

- THERE is NO WAY the factory could possibly have had a quality assurance manager on staff during construction. If they did, he should be strung up by his toe nails!

- There is NO REASON a HIGH END manufactured home can not be built with the same quality and STANDARD materials of a stick built house. And no matter what the sales person tells you, IT IS NOT built with quality materials. Everything that can possibly be made of plastic or card board.... is.

It's so obviouse, Slim shady works for Palm Harbor. Only a brainwashed *** would defend a ripoff company like Palm Harbor.

As far as Cavco Industries paying $55 million for Palm Harbor, you know what they say, there's a sucker born every day. Hope they enjoy having a reputation for building substandard houses.

Good luck with that Cavco!!! :p

Guest

Palm Harbor's BK filing is only restructuring. CAVCO industries has written a $55 million dollar check to purchase their debt and assets.

Quite a large check to write for a builder that is apparently soo bad. I think you all should have paid attention when the Palm Harbor Rep walked you through the state disclosures, which are read and signed upon the point of purchase.

Zorack M

Better Hurry Kevin, They are about to file BK.

Guest

We all need to get together and make these poeple pay.

Guest

First of all, if you have a problem with your water heater, then call STate, they are the manufacturer of the water heaters PH uses. If you have problems with your windows not opeing and shutting, this is because YOU NEED A RELEVEL, its in the PH contract, they do not control soil conditions on YOUR property that you choose.

Even if you are on a perm foundation, you need a relevel buddy, which can also cause the floors to squeak and the roof to leak. Its all in your paperwork and homeowner manual.

If you didnt read it than thats your negligence!!!If you upgraded your faucets, sinks, etc then you wouldn't have plastic sinks, they're not cheap, you are!

Guest

I'm with you Need help!

I have a modular (not manufactured and not any cheaper than a site built frame home) Palm Harbor home. I chose this route because I have a piece of family property, and was looking for a shorter timeline on the build than I could expect from site built.

I closed my construction loan in April 2009, began paying interest on my construction loan in May 2009, my modular home was set on December 23, 2009, Palm Harbor got the large portion of their construction draw ($80k+) on December 29th and we didn’t received our CO until the first week of March 2010. We received our CO on a Friday, but were not given the keys because PH didn’t have the final draw in hand; as if we were the ones who had been dragging our feet for 11 months. While we were able to move into our home after 11 months of angst, we are still saddled with a leaking garage, cracked interior corners, a leaking master shower, huge lump in the floor at centerline (padding, stem wall settlement...who knows??), cracked grout, cracked exterior concrete (that has never been driven on), awful grading that results in standing water, exterior doors that have leaked so badly the frames are swollen to the point of inoperability, and a multitude of nickel and dime items. This is the worst financial decision I have ever made. As a single mother, I am short on the time, money, and heart to fight this battle. I’m afraid to have another contractor come in because I don’t know what that will do to the “warranty” I have. Palm Harbor floor plans are indeed beautiful and functional. They are as attractive as Palm Harbor's initial marketing. Buyers beware, as I believe satisfied customers with worthy Palm Harbor investments are the exception and not the rule. If you’re looking for an expensive, “whatever” built weekend trailer, PH is the way to go. If you planning on sinking your savings and committing to 30 years in a home, steer clear.

Guest

I don't know about you, but I sure the *** didn't get what I paid for. My home is a palm harbor, I paid $100,000.00 for my leaking lemon lime.

Finally got through mold remediation. These are the pictures of my home.

This is the type of quality you get when you purchase a palm harbor. These ripoff artists told me the interior would be fine, and just sprayed the affected area with bleach water, and painted over the area. We told them we would like someone to come out and inspect behind the walls for mold and as you see, that never happened.

After three attempts to fix the leak, they basicly gave up and told us to contact our insurance company to fix the problem. That's the type of after service you receive once they take your money and run!!!!!!

So glad I did my research on palm harbor homes it was to good to be true...I will build my own home instead ty you to everyone who took the time to warn others. . I'm so very sorry the family's had to go through all this hardship

Guest

Well here's one for you. After doing anything and everything possible to lower my $400+ electric bill (during the summer in Texas), including putting in solar screens and asking 2 contractors to look under my house, my husband just found out we have INCOMPLETE DUCTS.

They didn't put any metal casing duct work in. So all the air from the air conditioner has been cooling the underside of the home. And, because the home is older (13 years) I was asked, "You've had this for 10 years and you're just now contacting us?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What person is going to tear open their belly paper to see if the have duct work.

Yeah Lady. It was visible from the getgo and we just let it go.

Now we have no recourse because the home is obviously not under warranty and PH has filed Chapter 11. Gee, imagine my surprise!

Guest

I love my floor plan....I just want the *** thing to be RIGHT. Why is that so hard to get?

Guest

You obviously have never filed a complaint with the bbb. Beside blogging seems too be working out for me, I've obviously hit a nerve!!! :grin

Guest

If all so bad, how come BBB gives them the top A+ rating? Have you filed a complaint with BBB? If not, you might find that more helpful then bloging.

Guest

HA :p

Guest

Have you ever wondered why the background on the Palm Harbor sign is yellow? Because they sell lemons. :grin

Guest

I too own a PH home and we have had nothing but problems, roof leaking, wall cracking at marriage lines, pantry shelves falling down because the are installed using hot glue instead of nails (this is in all cabinets) you get water the wood finishes and even though you wipe the water off the finish comes off. when we bought the PH Home we were handed the GK and here is your home we asked to do a walk though they said it was already done by them, WE did not have the chance to do a walk through with PH Rep, they gave us the keys and LEFT say if we find anything wrong make a list within 5 days and send it to the service center.

they fixed some of the items but we were left to fix the rest ourselves, and the repair we did ourselves was done better than what they did - some quality. If I had to do it over again I would never NEVER choses a palm harbor to live in or live near a PH :upset

Guest

:grin Well, brad for a former Palm Harbor employee, you sure do sound pretty brain washed. I assure you my porblems with my home have nothing to do with me, and every thing to do with palm harbors incompitants, and *** quality.

If Palm harbor builds such a quality product, then why did my roof leak from day one. Why does only one marriage line in the living room continuously keep cracking. Why do they glue shelves and tile on with hot glue. Your accountable systimatic approach to solving problems, is to blame the customer.

Take responsability for the piece of *** you people build, stop passing the buck to the customer. If you people are not careful, I will pay for a billboard to be put up in town with pictures of this moldy lemon lime peice of *** you sold me, warrning people not to buy Palm Harbor.

Guest

Incidently Brad, did you really ascertain if a customer complaint was real or did you just go with that notion ? You got to be kidding about the GM rite? they have more GM turnover than Burger King has fry cooks.

Palm Harbor Homes

I bought my home in 2005 and had problems from the beginning. I still have 2 areas where the siding is missing. Now I have a leak in the ceiling in the bathroom and after calling service twice I have not gotten a response.

I left the message on voice mail to someone named Lois. I am very disappointed and I would never buy another Palm Harbor home nor would I

recommend this company to any of my neighbors in my mobile home park. The floor still squeeks and I can't get the damp smell out of the bathroom.

The service department is terrible they just don't call back.

Wow, after reading the complaints, I will not be purchasing a Palm Harbor Home. If anyone knows of a good quality manufactured home, please let me know.

We purchased a lovely 1998 Palm Harbor Home and we are the 2nd owners. We have found the master shower does not drain unless we use a plunger.

We have tried Drano etc. Any suggestions.

Also, the floor in our sitting room off our master bedroom is buckling.

Any suggestions to what might be causing that? The ceramic tile is moving in the bathroom and kitchen.

Guest

In response to KM... if you bought the home in Florida, do not call the dealer...

call the factory directly. The person you want to speak to is Don Zeibarth. He is the General Manager. If he does not help you, ask for Mike Draper.

Be honest and accurate...

too often a real issue gets clouded by a customer "piling on" issues that can not be fixed, such as the time it took to get permits, the sales person leaving before your home was done, etc.... just explain what the issue is and request it be fixed under your warranty.

Guest

we have palm harbor home and have all these problems so does my sisters and the plumbing recall we had fix but any other things r going wrong with it who can be contacted about the problems.

Guest

What are you talking about? Palm Harbor Homes has been in business for over 30 years.

It started in Palm Harbor Florida before moving to Plant City and then to Addison Texas. It has never changed its name...

If you are having issues in Florida, contact the General Manager of the Factory. If you are calling Lois, you are calling the retail division, which I admit does tend to treat you poorly. The Factory GM, Don Zeibarth, does not play games and will address the issue.

People assume Palm Harbor does not stand behind behind the product, but it is the dealers that leave you hanging...

call the factory directly! Their number is located at www.palmharbor.net...and yes, I used to work for the company before moving too far from Plant City to commute to work.

Guest

Did you buy your house in FL? That someone named Lois you left a voice mail for is probably the operations manager in Plant City.

Guest

Tom obviously works for palm harbor. *** kisser.

Guest

I found palm harbor to be very helpful and I love my home. Did you do your home owner maintanence? Maybe it was you that was causing some of the issues.

Guest

Palm Harbor is full of ***!!! Stop playing the blame game, and take responsability for the mess you have created.

These contractors are sent out from their facility after being contacted to fix a problem. So don't try to act like they are fraudulant contractors doing business under your name you *** liers.

If you read your contract Ricky Lo, it says the delivery date is an estimated date and can change at any time. Every date given is an estimate, there is never a guaranteed date given, and things can come up beyond control of anyone. Can you tell god to hold off on the rain so they can deliver and set up your home?

Guest

We too were not happy with our Palm Harbor Dealer in Florida. Then we found out that you could buy directly through an internal office called Palm Harbor Marketing.

Ed Hamill runs it for the company and he goes out of his way to make sure issues get resolved... it was not perfect, but it was definately better than what I have read here...

If you buy in Florida, talk to Ed first! He is a straight shooter.

we bought a new home from palm harbor in august 2007,we also paid an extra $15,000 to have extra features put in.from the time they set it up to todays date everything from kitchen sink, toliets, walls, tiles, ect, and more is falling apart.we called them to come and repair things, they would come out look at them and tell us they would be back, they never fixed or came back.this is our retirement home,$80,000 later and it isn't worth ***.we would never recommend them to anyone.they take your money and run,go out of business and nothing gets done.

Palm Harbor Home Sells Termites

I bought a palm harbor home in jax Fl. They delivered the home Jan. 2008. My Wife and I discovered it had termite by walking up on palm harbor sale man try to treat it with a spray from home depot and was not going to tell us. We stop them and told them that we would except a house with termites. Needless to say they made all kind of promise that was not true. Now it is Jan 2010 I still have termites and it seem to be my Promblem. So i would not every buy a home from this company.I wondering if anybody has this issue.

To whom wrote the comment 8-10-2010. First thing why dont you used your name if you know so much about this termite infested home.

Palm harbor still hasnt got a bond and placed in my hands to this day. The home still has termites a year later. Not only does it have termites, they didnt connect the pipe from the upstairs bath to the sewage pipe and I had RAW SEWAGE leaking in my walls for a year, just discovered this and now my home is infested with MOLD!!!!!!!!! My family has stayed sick for months and had no clue MOLD was growing in my home from there *** mistake!!!

So since you know so much about ORKIN and the Bond, tell us your side of the story SUB!!!! I have read all these comments on other peoples home they bought from PHH and I do agree get a Lawyer, cause they will promise you everything and do nothing.

Whats sad they own the mortgage company and thats how they get away with releasing the funds, THEY DONT CARE, they can get away with this cause everything is IN HOUSE!!!!! :(

Guest

it was a model home and termites discovered when home set. PHH purchased a 5 yr.

bond from Orkin for you which you prolonged Orkin from treating your home many times. If you don't let them treat than maybe your part of the problem?

Guest

Termite treatments are a condition of some lenders in order to release funding. That may or may not have been the case.

was your palm harbor home a new home or a used home?

Palm habor lemon

Purchased a palm harbor in Ft Worth Tx in 2003, and shortly after discoverd a leak in the masterbedroom. Six years and three attempts later, we still have a leak. When we contact Palm harbor to fix the problem , they tell us our home is beyond any warranty offered by palm harbor. This strikes me funny, seems how their own technician informed us the leak was a factory defect in the design of our home. If any one out there is looking to buy a palm harbor home, turn and run the other direction. The main goal of palm harbor is maximum profits, and to destroy the hopes and dreams of home ownership.

(not the same person as "take action" who is rude)

I am having similar problems with my PH home. I am wondering if anyone on here knows how a class action works against a company that has filed bankruptcy for restructuring. I'd like to look into one, there are certainly enough of us who have dealt with this, in spite of what the trolls (PH employees) on here write.

I love people who write in defending a company who doesn't give a *** about the customer. We discovered the leak in the initial warranty period, and have been trying to remedy the problem.

The problem was it would only leak with several days of hard rain. If you had two brain cells, you would know we have droughts in texas you *** idiots. That's why it took so long. And yes I did take responsability for my home and fixed it.

That's more than I can say for Palm Under the Harbor. I encourage these idiots to go out and purchase a palm harbor and see what a piece of *** you really get !!!!

I have had spots show up in my roof in the living room and bathrooms and the bedrooms. I figure the roof is leaking everywhere they put staples to hold the plastic on when they transport it. This sucks because it doesn't show up for a while and by then all the wood is rotten in the roof.

Interesting comment. Had not thought of that

you let a leak go for 6 years!!!!!!!! what a ***.

no wonder you people have problems. you are a homeowner!! the same would apply of it was site built.

fix the *** thing yourself!!!!!! stop blaming others

Any one who has had a leak, needs to have it checked. We are finding out the hard way.

Palm harbor never came out to fix the water damage, and we recently discovered we had mold, when our dog was diagnosed with severe allergies to mold. We have been breathing mold, for six years. Here are the signs you may have mold, musty odor, cough, sore throat, sin rash, nasal congestion, shortness of breath, vision problems, headache and fever.

We are about to go through mold remediation. As soon as I get all the pictures, I will be posting them.

I also purchased a Palm Harbor "lemon" in WA state....contact me if you would be interested in class action

My parents purchased a home in Yakima WA over 3 years ago, white glove treatment all the way, until the drive jack knifed in the driveway and cracked the wall in half. There is a crack from the outside into the family room, they can and attempted to patch all of the cracks but apparently they sent a someone in training it looks bad, you can see seams everywhere.

My mother has made over 50 phone calls and written letters and they blow her off. I think it's time to try to discourage people from purchasing from them if they aren't going to provide customer service.

PH got their money and that is all they wanted, it is so sad they they can take advantage of people like this, but their turnover is so bad, every other time we call there is a ne CEO, I guess maybe they know what a pathetic company they are working for so they can't handle the stress of screwing people over. It is so sad when my parents have company it's always by candle light so that nobody notices the cracks.

Mt Everest model

This home has been an absolute nightmare! Constant roof leaks, craking and falling plaster through out as well.

I have a stack of rework orders an inch thick and there will be more to come as the last repairs are failing again!

I have been round and round with corporate, their service department and the village I bought the home home from.....Sales man was nightmare I should have stopped right then and there.....

I recomend you purchase a travel trailer before you buy from this company! I've had it since new in 2003 and its been nothing but under constant repair since the first day I moved in!

My Palm Harbor Home is a 1996 model. It has been nothing but a nightmare. Palm Harbor states...

"When you choose a Palm Harbor home, you own a beautiful home built with the highest quality construction materials and craftsmanship for strength, durability, energy efficiency, value and peace of mind.

We know you want an attractive, comfortable and well-built home that is a good value and provides a lifetime of enjoyment with family and friends. Our SmartPlus Construction is the answer.

Better Built Homes for More Satisfied Customers.

For almost 30 years, Palm Harbor Homes has been committed to creating a building system that delivers strong, durable, attractive, energy efficient factory built homes in a whole new way. SmartPlus Construction, Palm Harbor's unique building system, enables us to deliver home after customized home that completely satisfies each homeowner".

...to which I haven't had 'peace of mind' in years. I would not recommend a Palm Harbor Home to anyone. When you state 'strength and durability' to comsumers...you need to stand by your words. Palm Harbor doesn't stand by anything. I am now waiting on an insurance check to repair my home from water damage. The lines in between the walls...just burst and started leaking. In all 3 bathrooms ... within days of each other. I have $25,000.00 plus dollars worth of damamge to my home. The homes are 'eye candy' when you are shopping around...but deceiving (behind) where you can't see...it's a shame...that they aren't durable... The word durable to me means..'long lasting'. This home has been anything but durable! It's been one issue after another since we bought this place. I wish I had researched on Palm Harbor before buying into their 'deceit'.

I too have a similar story. I bought my home in 2003, it was produced in their medofrd oregon plant.

Aside from the contractor they picked acutlly going out of business and starting an new one right after he finished my install, the house was not leveled properly, and within the first year the master bath shower broke. I called to get warrenty after three weeks they called back to tell me that someone came out while i was not home and determine it wasnt warrenty related damage. How could it not be the shower aside from being a ridiculous piece of garbage was also not installed correctally causing the pan to break because it has no under support.

The salesman told me everything in this house would be code 2x4 beams with 16" centers and electrical and plumbing to code. NOTHING IS ANY FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

I have a contractor out now who came to fix the tub in the other bathroom (thats right it broke too). No access to the drain plumbing, 1.5x 3" studs at 22 inches off center, and the electrical cables run right behind the exterior siding, not through the studs and no moisture barrier of anykind. I am also having an electrician come and add two more circuits to the electrical panel because the cicuits are all very light, and overloaded. There is a printer hookded up and everytime it powers up to print a page lights blink in three rooms.

ASide from this I have also had to replace; 5 light fixtures that the wires fused and burnt out, both toilets as one was cracking, 3 sinks, 50' of duct for the heating, the cheap30 gallon water heater that failed after two years, and over half the doors in the place.

And of course since the studs were not a standard size i had to custom order special door frames from chehalis. My list goes on, if i cant join a class action suite, I may just write a book about my experiance.

Purchased a 2006 model, numerous problems and they told me it was an "Installation problem"

Installation was a major part of the purchase. I am dumb founded how they are still in business.

I have faith a class action suite will arise, even if I have to start it myself! did the ground settle?

wtf? low life pieces of ***.

Your story sounds all too familiar. Our home was purchased in 2003 as well, and has been a nightmare ever since.

My advice to you would be to find a reliable contractor to fix the problem, and wash your hands with ph.

They have no intention of fixing the problem correctly. That's just how they do business.
