Concern RE Certified Pre-Owned Cars & Inspection

AI Highlights
  • - Purchased a CPO 2017 VW Beetle Convertible; issues in first 24h.
  • - Battery died ~12h later; concern about the load test in the inspection.

On 10/6/19, I purchased a CPO 2017 VW Beetle Convertible according to Pacific Volkswagen in Hawthorne. In the first 24 hours, I experienced: 1) Tire pressure light within 10 of driving; 2) Passenger seat belt warning light illuminated and "dinging"; 3) Message indicting key fob and a low batter.

More disturbing, in approximately 12 hours, I had a "dead" battery and was forced to call the Automobile Club for assistance. They ran a quick assessment and the battery results were "replace battery." I'm extremely concerned because I PAID MORE FOR A CPO car and I've already had these problems. On the Certified Vehicle Inspection Report, it is checked off that Pacific VW performed a "load" battery test and it was checked of satisfactory. I've very upset to think what else has been checked satisfactory on this sheet and has not been completed.

If a simple battery load test was skipped, I doubt if more in depth tests were run. PLEASE RESPOND AND LET ME KNOW MY OPTIONS AT THIS POINT. I'm an older woman and I paid to get a CPO car and I feel somewhat mislead to say the least.

Thank you so much. Kathi Albers
