Declining Quality
- - No added Nonsense and wrapper removal reduced taste and freshness.
- - Oatnut flavor and texture changed; it no longer stays fresh.
Since Oroweat went on its "No added Nonsense" initiative (removing preservatives, artificial coloring, high fructose corn syrup, ad nauseum) AND discontinued the inner plastic wrapper, taste and freshness have declined markedly. The flavor and consistency of their Oatnut product (my personal go-to for decades) is quite different and the product no longer stays fresh, even when sealed in multiple plastic bags or even vacuum sealed.
I, for one< have had enough of companies playing the "woke nutrition" game. Oroweat has lost a long-time customer who will no longer purchase or recommend its product.
User's recommendation: Forget it.
Rye is now like wonder bread
- - Packaging has changed shape.
- - It's squishy like white bread and not rye.
- - After decades of buying, we won't buy again and will go to the bakery.
It's changed shape packaging and most of all, it's squishy like white wonder bread. I don't know what this is but it's not rye and after decades my family purchased, we will never ever again.
We're done. Off to the bakery we go.
Preferred solution: The old rye back. I’ve been on message boards, so many people won’t buy any longer.
User's recommendation: Find rye anywhere else, this is not it.
Have bought the multi-grain bread for years. They have eliminated the inner wrapper.
- - Bread tastes worse and molds quickly.
- - The wrapper was removed to cut plastic.
- - They say they will stop buying Oroweat.
The bread does not taste as good and quickly molds. Oroweat says it eliminated the second wrapper to reduce the use of plastic.
Well, it is also going to reduce the sale of their breads because it is we are no longer buying Oroweat. : (
User's recommendation: Don't buy unless you want to be forced to throw out moldy bread.

Verified ReviewerWhat Actually Is This?
- - I've bought Oroweat for decades.
- - Jewish rye was terrible, not due to expiration.
- - Toasting didn't help; wheat bread has a bizarre texture.
I've been buying Oroweat for decades. I have enjoyed all different varieties that they offered.
I recently bought Jewish rye and it was terrible. It was nowhere near the expiration date so that wasn't the problem. I tried toasting it, but there was no improvement. I then bought their wheat bread and it is equally bad.
The texture is bizarre. It feels like they took the inner plastic wrap they previously used and mixed it into the dough.
The shelf life must be infinity. I don't know what they did, but they've lost a loyal customer.
User's recommendation: Avoid Oroweat
Bread quality is decreasing
The past year I have noticed the quality of the Oroweat breads is like that of regular cheap bread. Spongy, lacking any texture, with almost no visible nuts or seeds. It has no flavor.
User's recommendation: If you noticed this too, it's not just your imagination. Something is very different.
I have been buying buttermilk bread for years. But the bread is not fresh , the texture has change. I will mo longer purchase
go back to original wrapping. The bread is no longer fresh. Even though i purchase the loaf 8 days prior to expiration date

Verified ReviewerExtreme Quality Decline
The bread is no longer good. I will no longer purchase this brand. Removing the inner lining was a huge mistake.
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Buy different bread.
Your bread isn't good anymore. I will NOT buy it again.
It used to be the only bread I bought but now it SUCKS. It's doughy and taste different and gets moldy faster.

Verified ReviewerThe quality of Oroweat bread with the green label is completely different
- - The packaging changed; it is deceptive.
- - Bread tastes bland and disintegrates as if GMO additives were added; Franz is the same; I won't buy either.
Recently, the packaging is different. They no longer double wrap, and the lettering is less specific.
The bread taste and quality is depleted to a blah flavor. Worst of all, is the bread doesn't mold. It disintegrates as if they've added some weird GMO chemicals. Franz bread has done the same.
Very deceptive. I will not be buying either brand again
User's recommendation: Don't buy any Oroweat or Franz bread
You didn't have a new phone and I had formated my old phone before i got signed in to facebook

Verified ReviewerStopped production of the Master's Best breads
- - Oroweat no longer produces the Master’s Best Winter Wheat Bread.
- - They will not buy any Oroweat products until the Master’s Best series returns.
So I write this after waiting months (&months) to see if OW was going to change in it's production of Oroweat Master's Best Winter Wheat Bread. And they didn't.
I used to go out of my way to get this bread and specifically the Winter Wheat Master's Blend yet they no longer produce. I have spoken to many who agree with me.
SO my promise to OroWeat is I will no longer purchase ANY products of OW until they return the Master's Best series.
User's recommendation: Support a boycott of ALL Oroweat products

Verified ReviewerWhy did you change 12 Grain bread recipe?
- - I've loved 12 Grains Bread for years, but quality has changed.
- - It is not past best-by date, and next two loaves were the same; it's now coarse.
I've been loving & enjoying 12 Grains Bread for years - truly savoring every bite - until now. About three weeks ago I noticed the change.
At first I thought it must be past its best by date, but on checking - it wasn't. Same with the next two. It's like it's been forced to be stale! There is no softness at all to it - it is coarse!
The mouth feel is not pleasing at all. It's now awful to eat. This is so disappointing!
If this bread does not revert to its previous quality, I will discontinue buying it. Then I'll look for a replacement, but I hope I won't have to.
