I dont want to leave a book for you to read to soIll just get to the point. We bought a 2024 heartland North trail from them in Arlington, all online due to weather and distance.

Clearly we trusted the advertising price and description as they had it listed in multiple places online. The salesman knew we were only interested in a 2024. At my walk thru I noticed some discrepancies in what I expected in the trailer because I was excited and read the online manual for hours. The walk thru agent assured me it was just my mistake because I needed to read the fine print.

My package for the trailer didnt include the things I had read because it was an upgrade option that wasnt on this particular trailer. So I was like okay, we already bought it so thats that. Well in my bag of paper work I couldnt find anything that stated the exact trailer info. We were having a hard time with the amps, and some of the accessories we bought were not correct, we were so confused.

Even the weight and length were different from what the advertised trailer was. So we started looking into what the heck was going on. I found a laminated sheet of paper under the couch with the trailer info on it. They sold us a 2023 trailer NOT a 2024.

Of course we contacted them right away and they blamed us for not knowing. They completely shifted all blame and claimed it was a glitch in the system and they have no control over it. They literally told us verbally and advertised it as a 2024. I took video and screen shots of everything.

The general manager calls us to discuss options and he offered us 1000 dollars in store credit. We took the weekend to figure out what to do, he calls back on sunday and offers us 1,000 in Cash IF we sign a NDA to keep quiet about our experience. They completely scammed us and the 1k is a slap in the face. This company is awful and all kinds of crooked.

Please take your money anywhere but here and do NOT buy online. I am seeking legal advice at this point.

Make sure your not a female first time or (anytime) buyer from open rd

First time buyers sold from Jason Murphy and was miss lead, lied to, and belittled not only sales but service manager Jim as well. First thing I stated was I needed a trailer that was year round ready.

I was told it was and it is not! I wanted to return the same night we received trailer. We paid $30,000 cash including a $2000 warranty.

The first night we froze due to furnace not working properly and long list of others and I sit still with warranty and nothing fixed to date. We received trailer on DEc 17 2019.

Updated by user Apr 01, 2019

Open Road RV has made good on their warranty. Thanks

Original review Mar 28, 2019

(NOTE: MUST LOOK AT DATES) I purchased a new 2018 Aspen Trail from Open Road RV Smokey Point that leaked water when it rained due to a manufacturer defect. I turned the trailer in on 23 Jan 2018 for warranty repair and I've had nothing but problems since.

I contacted the Consumer Protection Division of the Washington State Attorney General to file a formal complaint (available to the public) on 25 May 2018 about the poor service and communication I was receiving from the dealership. On 5 Jan 2019 I removed all of my belongings from inside the trailer and found the trailer inside the service department with a box fan running and the door and window open in an attempt to dry out the trailer (Yes, this was almost a year later and the trailer was still wet inside). While removing my personal belongings I found items kept on the floor, in storage under bed and dining room slide out were wet and showed signs of mold and mildew (see photos). I stopped by 26 Mar 2019 to pick up service records on my way to see a lawyer in Seattle only to find my trailer stuffed in the front corner of their lot with a tarp over the roof.

BUYER BEWARE....as you can tell with by the comments the good ones are people that haven't had a problem yet or had to deal with Open Road RV service and the bad ones are those that have....good luck....I've been waiting over 14 months now for my trailer to be repaired. NOTE: This is only a small sample of what I've had to deal with since buying this trailer. The water leak was so severe you could literally splash water with your foot on the carpet area near dining room slide out, the entire floor in the kitchen area was wet and squishy when walked on and surrounding areas all show signs of water damage. Finally, I know a lot of people like to gripe and complain in reviews but I'm hoping the photos provided will put the 14+ months of frustration I've had dealing with Open Road RV and the manufacturer Dutchman (they are no better) into perspective.

(The photos were taken almost a year after dropping trailer off to Open Road RV for warranty repair due to manufacturer defect causing water leak into trailer. I ended up removing all of my personal items to prevent further damage).

Horrible

We discovered a broken window when we returned from a vacation on July 4th. Our insurance company referred us to Open Rd.

They people we spoke to in the office were rude. The techs were great ! After 4 months we finally got a new window.

I understand it wasnt entirely there fault but I was a customer and they could have been nicer. We will Never do business with them again!

I would never do any business with open road RV ever ever again. I purchased a new RV and before I could see it they processed my loan.

Meanwhile, they left it out in the cold and the waterlines froze. Why was there water in it in the first place? The made an appointment with me after two weeks of purchasing it. The appointment was a week and a half later.

At the last minute, they cancelled. I had to eat a day of vacation. They replaced the water heater but no compensation for compromising the water system. Now that I have the RV home, nothing in the unit works.

Nothing on 110 works.

Open road RV does not care. The trash your purchase, sell crap and do not stand behind the product.

They have had our trailer in their care for "repair" longer then we have and have only owned it for a year.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Where do I start!? Our buying experience went OK...but nothing that I would rant and rave about.

We paid for the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) and an extended warranty and were told that they would get all of that done and we could pick up our brand new 2016 travel trailer in a couple weeks. So we finally got the call to come pick up the trailer and do our walk through. The gentleman that did our walk through was pretty knowledgeable, but there were MANY issues. First the awning was rolled up with what looked to be leaves and twigs on it so it stained the awning.

They told us a new awning was "already on order" (why was that not replaced in the last 2 weeks you had it sitting here!?) There were multiple dents, nicks and scratches on some of the siding that all has to be replaced. The CD/DVD/TV stereo was not screwed in and he had to secure that before we left. The trailer was supposedly "cleaned" in the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection)? What did I pay for because it was not cleaned and inspected well?

There were putty marks throughout the whole trailer and noticeable staples showing. There was dust and finger prints all in the cabinets and on the cabinets’ glass. The gentleman also showed us how the slide worked...well if it didn't blow a fuse almost every time you try to bring the slide in that would have been nice. He put in a new fuse and told us to keep an eye on it to see if it happened again.

Yes it happens almost every time we try to bring the slide in. We knew that we would have to bring the trailer back to get the siding replaced, get the new awning installed, and have the fuse/slide motor or electrical looked at. If those were the only issues, ok no big deal, but that was just the start. We took the trailer out twice and the second time it rained.

I had a sheet on the couch and when I pulled that off when we went to leave the sheet was soaked. We pulled the couch out and the whole floor/carpet in the slide was soaked with water. My husband went out to check the slide and the bottom of the slide side wall where the 2 panels were supposed to be sealed together was wide open just letting any and all water just run into our slide. We already had an appointment to drop the trailer off for the other repairs on 5/31/16 so we just added to the list of repairs needed.

Also on the list of repairs was the rear inside speaker was blown, the rear door lock jams and won’t always lock correctly, inside molding is coming off or damaged. We showed up to drop the trailer off and of course there was no room in the lot to pull in. I went in to ask where we could park since we were blocking the street. They didn't know because they needed to move things first.

It took them a good 20 minutes or so to get something moved so we could pull in. There was no sense of urgency to help us out. We finally got into the service department and got some help. I walked through the whole trailer with the service department manager and front desk service person and gave the list of issues.

Everything was documented and marked in the trailer with blue tape so it could all be addressed. I asked to be called with any and all updates and asked to be called when they had the slide torn open for repairs, because I wanted to see what water damage had been done to the sub floor and carpet and see what they will be fixing before they closed anything back up. I have not received a call with any updates unless I call to check on it first. We were told that everything should be fixed in 4 to 5 weeks max and they would keep me in the loop of how things were going.

I have called multiple times and every time I call I am told that it is still on schedule to be finished 7/5/16. I called 6/15/16 and the service department told me still on schedule to be complete 7/5/16. I called last week on 7/8/16 and was told I would get a call back that day, I never heard a word from them. I called again today 7/12/16 and was told again I would get a call back today.

Got a call back and the trailer has not even been in the shop and looked at! So the trailer has been sitting on the lot for 6+ weeks, with the slide full of water. No heaters or anything were put in the trailer to dry or soak up the water. The other service person has been lying to me when he said "it is still on schedule to be completed on 7/5/16".

If it hasn’t even been in the shop how can it be on schedule to be complete, I have been lied to every time I have called for status. I have now called the manufacturer on 7/25/16 to see if they can help us. They are supposed to get in contact with the dealer. Called the manufacturer again on 8/2/16 because I have not heard anything from them.

I still have no updates on when things will be complete. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s office, File # 488258 and only AFTER I filed, did I get a call from the dealership on 7/27/16 (the general manager called) Steve Shriver stated that he would get to the bottom of things and get a plan of action for me and someone would call me the next day (7/28/16)…well NO phone call the next day or the next 3 days for that matter. I had to call the dealership back on 8/2/16 and talk to Steve the GM. He again said he would get with his service manager to get an action plan in place and they would call me.

I heard back from Jim finally on 8/2/16, he stated that he was looking into things and would call me the next day with a plan. I have told the dealership and manufacturer many times that I don’t want the trailer “fixed” anymore. They are not fixing it correctly and I feel more damage has been done to it since it sat for 6+ weeks with water in it. We feel they are just doing a “patch” job on it to get me off their back.

The dealership “patched” the hole in the slide so we could “use” it for our upcoming summer camping trips and then they told us to bring it back during winter (when they are slow) so they can make the final and permanent repairs. The dealership also damaged the front diamond plate and Jim told us that would be replaced when we brought it back. We were able to use it 2 more times during the summer. The dealership did pay us for 2 months of payments $600 since they had it for so long and were giving us the run around.

They also had me sign a “Held Harmless” paper that I felt I was made to sign IF I wanted any payments back. I was very uncomfortable signing is since I don’t know what it is, but I signed it so we could receive our payment. Trailer was taken back in for repairs on 1/6/17 and we were told they had already ordered everything that was needed for the repairs so it would take 3-4 weeks to get everything complete. We also had issues with the new awning they put on, one side arm would stick and not extend unless you manually pulled on it.

We also asked them to look and adjust the brakes on the trailer because they were not braking like they should be. I was told I would get a call in a week to give me an update on where things were at. I never received ANY calls. I sent e-mails to check on status and never heard a response.

I finally called them and got a response. I was told that they were waiting on some trim pieces and they would arrive in a couple weeks (they had already told us everything was order so what could they be waiting on now) and I would get a call then. I never heard anything back. I called again, finally spoke to Bill and he said that the tech that has the skill to do the metal work had been out for a couple days and once he got back he would get things completed.

I called back again and Bill told me the tech had not “shown up” to work in a couple days (so was he on vacation like I was lead to believed or had he just not shown up to work) and he was not sure where he was, so he would keep me up to date. I have not heard anything back since. I contacted the manufactured again to see if they can help, they stated that it has been way too long in the shop and things should have been completed by now. The manufacture also looked up to see what parts had been ordered and told me that they only have “trim” that has been ordered.

Trim was ordered in Jan and then again on 3/2/17, 3/6/17 and 3/17/17 why was trim ordered In March when we were told everything was ordered way back when they knew the issues and we were told they had all the parts ready to go for when we brought the trailer back. It was also agreed upon with the dealer that the slide side walls would be completely replaced and also the flooring under the couch would be replaced. The manufacture told me they don’t see any “walls” or panels ordered. So now I am wondering if they have NOT replaced the walls like we were told they would and they are just trying to “fix” it and think we won’t notice they may have lied to us.

The manufacture told me they would call and see what was going on, I haven’t heard back. The trailer has been in for repairs a combined total of over 7 months, we have only owned the trailer for 1 year. They promised that the trailer would be done on 4/14/17, wasn’t done. We told them we HAVE to have it back on 4/21/17 because we have a trip the next weekend and need to get the trailer ready to go…NOT done.

They then told us that they trailer will not be done until sometime the week of 5/1/17 because the part that they ordered came in wrong, but I spoke to the manufactured directly and they told me that Open Road ordered the wrong part.

We have a trip this weekend and were promised that the trailer would be done on 4/28/17 for us to use for our trip. So this gives me NO time to clean, pack or get the trailer ready for our trip.

Open Road RV at Smokey Point Arlington, WA

Purchased a used 2011 Tiffin Allegro Motor Home from Open Road RV at Smokey Point. On 11-05-2016.

This experience has been a nightmare and a big disappointment. Open Road RV needs to learn to be more truthful and honest with their customers. No one likes to be ignored and told Oh I'll get back to you and they never do, email with a question never get an answer or reply call on the telephone never get a call back or your told I'll call you right back. When we decided to purchase this used Motor Home also wondering if you’re buying someone else's problems.

We were informed that we could purchase a PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection)performing the final quality checks before turning the RV over to you and it is typically called “PDI". They perform the PDI before you get there and if they find anything faulty or not working, it is supposed to be fixed before you take possession. We decided with the motor home being used the PDI sounded like a good purchase. What a real eye opener and learning experience.

We were charged $3500.00 to have this PDI scheduled to be done. What I’m going to tell you I’m sure your thoughts will be the same as mine. The salesman said that new batteries would be installed the old batteries remained in the motorhome. No new batteries.

The motorhome needed new tires and the agreement was to split the tire expense in half. Open Road RV paid $1000.00 and my half was $1500.00. When the guy was going over some of the systems showing how they work he was not having luck making the heat come on but brushed it off. When the PDI person was done going over the motorhome he had my son sign a document that involves your acceptance.

When my son got moved into the motorhome this winter there was no heat. I called open road RV service department to talk to them. She was very abrupt, snappy and short with me. Oh by the way I found one of the owner’s manual that belong to your motorhome.

Still have not received that owner’s manual. I told her that I would like a copy of the PDI’s paper work. Still haven’t received that paperwork. She told me to have my son call her regarding the heat.

My son did call her and we never heard back from anyone. They didn’t even offer to send someone to check out what was wrong with the heater. Since they already had our money they just didn’t care about making things right with the customer, they just don’t give a dam. My son had to hire a mobile RV serviceman to come and a run a diagnostic for the heater.

When the diagnostic was run he found out that the computer board was out for the heat. Therefore when the PDI was done there was no heat and the heater was not running at that time. The slide outs were not working properly. The slide outs needed a seal conditioner and lubricant.

My son called the service department and told her he had invoices concerning the heat and slide outs. She told my son to email the invoices to her and she would forward them onto the owner. My son has not heard anything back from Open Road RV regarding getting reimbursed for his out of pocket expenses which was about $1000.00. The bathroom and kitchen faucets both leaked and were to be replaced but that didn’t happen either.

My son had to go out and buy new faucets another out of pocket expense. Motorhome was to be cleaned and that didn’t happen.

After paying $3500.00 for the PDI you should not have any out of pocket expenses. Buyer beware!!!!

Open Road Rv Customer Care Review from Redmond, Washington

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They have the worst customer service of any dealer Ihave ever delt with. Upon purchase of my new trailer I was told that I would not be ale to take possession of the unit unti the dealer PDI was performed.

This turned into a 3 week battle trying to schedule a appointment and finnally I stopped in to resolve this issue in person and ended up talking to a nice couple who were just finishing their PDI. It turns out they had just purchased their new unit from the RV show....and I still cant get a appt....thats when I knew this dealer and I were not going to get along. From this point it continued to get worse. On the first camping trip..after the expensive PDI dealer prep we developed a 10 item list for ranging from loose stove connections to doors that dont close, all should have been fixed before delivery.

This started the warrenty repair nightmare. I contacted the service department and scheduled the appt. After 2 to 3 weeks with no word from the dealer I stopped to check progress on the repair just to find my unit unlocked sitting in the back of the lot almost untouched. This turned into a 2 month battle to get it back...unfinished.

We used the unit for 2 trips and i made a new appt for the unit to get repaired along with a few new issues that have popped up. Again I dropped off the trailer and was promised it would be taken care of.....it wasnt. After 2 months of checking with and yelling at them I finally just went and picked it up becuase I needed to use it. Upon returning home I connected the unit to water and power not knowing the service tech had left my sink partially uninstalled and this was not noticed for 2 hrs....completly flooding the unit.

I have just tried again to get the issues fixed at the dealer again and after missing 2 planned family vacation and 2 more months in their shop it is still not done, I AGAIN had to retrieve the unit unfinished to try and use it.

So in total I have owned this unit for a year and a half and it has been in repair for 6 months of that...I am going to have to get a lawyer involved at this point because they have ruined my cabinets and gas range on the last repair attempt and I dont have any faith it will be fixed correctly or in a timely manner...long story short STAY AWAY. I now hate my trailer and want to burn it in their parking lot..

Do not be fooled by the title of the "Service Department"

Purchased 2008 Class A motorhome. Slides worked during sale.

Drove it home (after 2 days waiting for it to be ready for delivery) and the automatic levelers came halfway down and stopped and the slides didn't work. OR said it was my problem. Posted negative review.

Sales called and I was to bring it in on Monday to have it looked at and "made right".

Wednesday had to go in, no call back. Found nothing had been done but the rig was hit with a forklift that dented the side and put the front slide out of alignment. I'm trying to get a call for explanation and resolution.

NOTHING! Do not do business with the company!

Just a heads up about the ethics and integrity of the owner, general manager, and service manager. They fall short in all categories.

I purchased a new 40' 5th wheel ($87,000). We used it twice for a combination of 8 days. The roof failed and had to be replaced. While in their possession a employee backed another large RV into front of mine shattering front nose cone.

This happened the day I was to pick it up. They have had the RV for 7 1/2 months. These are the 2 major items, there are 12 other significant items that had to be repaired. We were promised the RV back on 6 occasions and have cancelled 3 trips.

We bought this for our retirement. They just don't care about you after they get your money. Contact me at mnedennis@***.com for proof of this business lack of professionalism.

I have documentation, many 8x10 pictures and audio of their deceit. Please save yourself the grief, time, and money.

Dog bites and RV breakdowns

Great website and RV selection. Good prices! Nice to give your money to a small business rather than the big companies, right?

---

2 bad dog bites, lost time and money, dead pilot light, dead smoking generator, spoiled food, non-working windshield wipers in Oregon rain, our 6 people put up in a hotel room for 3 days...

---

We lost so much time and money dealing with this nonprofessional rental dealership we should have gone elsewhere.

---

When we brought the RV back complaining bitterly they took no responsibility and sent the RV right back out to the next customer's demise.

WHY IS THERE A REVIEW FOR OPEN ROAD RV IN SAN FRANCISCO CALIFORNIA, THAT LINKS TO OPEN ROADS RV, WWW.OPENROADSRV.CA, A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COMPANY, IN STITTSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA? I'M SORRY BUT THIS JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. PERHAPS IT'S TIME PISSED CONSUMER'S MODS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS.

Do Not Use Open Road RV

What else can we say? We got ripped off at OPEN ROAD RV, RV CENTRAL dot com and AMERICAN RV RENTALS dot com (ALL THE SAME COMPANY). We have rented and owned RVs most of our adult life. Never have we been treated so unfairly and rudely! Our RV was badly damaged and the owner Jeff Collison, claims he doesn't know anything about it. We are talking about thousands of dollars in damages! This experience has ruined our vacation plans and cost us alot of money and time. Why waste yours when you can find other more reputable companies? Our best advice, don't go to Open Road RV! Look somewhere else if you are going to rent an RV. We suggest you find a large reputable dealer with a lease back program. Make sure you take pictures of everything before you leave. Also, any damage that you find should be noted and keep a copy, after they sign it! Ask to see the most recent safety inspection and repairs/service before you rent the vehicle. Make sure they go over the entire vehicle with you when you return it. When you return with the RV, get them to sign off if there are no damages and give you a copy of the RV condition report. Request a disposition report of your deposit, before you leave.

Before you even consider using Open Road RV, and we suggest that you don't, or any other RV rental company, look at their rating on the Better Business Bureau website www.bbb.com

Here is Open Road RV, LLC (they have and "F" rating; the worst): http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=1316****

I had the exact experience! Totally trashed RV.

They even stole my spare tire to put on someone else's RV! They have absolutely no right to be in business.Jeff Collison still won"t return my calls. He literally hangs up on me, when I'm lucky enough to get him on the phone, as soon as he hears my voice.

He has no right to be in business. He is a common THIEF!

Don't use Open Road Honda of Edison. They are greedy and unfair especially with pre-owned cars.

They will sell you a faulty car and not even blink and not even compensate even if you have to take the car back several times to get it fixed. Also a simple oil change may result in needing wheel alignment and brake fluid change and even more unncessary repairs.

The management is the rudest amonst all the dealersships. Avoid them like palgue.

Guest

I just "rescued" my rig from them and the above poster is absoultely correct. I've not seen dime 1 from them, and my rig was completely trashed. (2006 fleetwood jamboree with 16k miles on it)
